Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law
Chapter 911 - 12: How Could It Be Her?
Ivan casually replied, "Big brother is at the Valence Hotel, just let her stay there and give her big brother’s phone number, she can contact me if she needs anything."
"Big brother is so busy, she probably won’t dare to bother him even if she needs to, I’ll just send her contact information to big brother, once he’s done with work, he should help me get in touch with my senior, I really, really like her."
"Okay."
Ivan doted on this cousin and younger cousin, Lena, who was over ten years younger. No matter what she asked of him, as long as he could do it, he would agree.
"Thank you, big brother. I won’t disturb you anymore, take care of yourself even if you’re busy."
After reminding her brother, Lena ended the call herself.
Afterward, she sent the phone number she got from Lia to Ivan.
And told Ivan that Lia didn’t have much money and couldn’t possibly stay at the Valence Hotel. She asked her big brother to help get in touch with Lia and then take her to the Valence Hotel so he could take care of her senior. She mentioned that any cost Lia incurred staying at the hotel would be reimbursed by her.
When Ivan received such a message from his sister, he just smiled, curious about what his sister’s senior looked like to cause her so much anxiety and concern.
Three hours later.
Lia got off the plane; it had long been dark. Her trip was rather impromptu, and she wasn’t prepared, so she needed to find a suitable hotel to stay at first.
She pulled out her phone, turned it on, and walked ahead with her simple luggage.
"Ring, ring, ring..."
An unfamiliar number called her phone.
Lia hesitated a bit. Seeing that the caller didn’t intend to give up, she answered the call.
"Hello, are you... Miss Lena’s senior?" the voice on the line asked gently.
Lena hadn’t given Ivan Lia’s name, and Ivan, busy with other matters, only remembered that the person receiving Lia had her phone number and knew she was Lena’s senior.
Lia quickly responded, "Yes, who is this?"
"Miss Lena requested our CEO to help take care of you. The CEO is busy, so he sent me to pick you up. May I ask for your surname, miss?"
"My surname is Aiken."
"Miss Aiken, nice to meet you. I’m waiting for you outside the airport." The caller informed Lia of the car’s license plate number.
Lia thanked the person and, after ending the call, quickly called Lena to confirm. Once confirmed, she believed the person waiting outside was indeed there to pick her up.
"Senior, my big brother happens to be on a business trip there. I thought it wasn’t very safe for a young girl like you to travel alone, so I asked my big brother to look after you. He’s a very nice person, don’t be afraid of him. If he dares treat you badly, let me know, and I’ll talk to him."
Lena Horne still hadn’t told Lia that her big brother was the Ivan she was grateful to.
She was both Ivan’s cousin and his niece because her mother, Ruby Bluen, and Julia Bluen, were sisters.
The Horne Family had more men than women, with Aunt Adele being the only female in the previous generation. In this generation, there were two young ladies; Lena was not only the second young lady but also the youngest of all the cousins.
The youngest often gets the most pampering.
Lena Horne received more doting than her aunt did in her youth.
With her dual relationship with Ivan, he treated her more intimately than a biological sister, raising her given their significant age difference.
"Lena, thank you, your big brother is so busy, how could I impose on him? I’ll take good care of myself, you and your senior don’t need to worry about me." Her life’s circumstances were not favorable, and she learned early on how to protect herself.
Lia didn’t think traveling required her junior to ask her brother to look after her.
"Senior, I’ve asked my big brother, and he’s agreed. Now he’s arranged for someone to pick you up. Just go along with them. I’m sure my big brother will also help arrange a hotel for you. Don’t feel embarrassed. As long as you have fun and stay safe, both Sunny and I can be at ease. Didn’t you say your dad always sends people to catch you? With my big brother around, he wouldn’t dare do anything to you."
Lena had everything arranged, and Lia could only say, "Lena, thank you so much."
Considering her junior’s thoughtfulness, Lia planned to thank Lena’s brother in person once they met and then find another hotel for herself to avoid causing trouble.
Finally, she convinced Lia to accept her goodwill and arrangements.
After ending the call, Lena happily said to her mother beside her, "Mom, I’ve found myself a sister-in-law."
Ruby Bluen chuckled and asked, "You have so many brothers, which one are you talking about?"
Her daughter referred to her biological brother as "big brother" as well as Ivan.
Hence Ruby asked.
"Of course, it’s my eldest cousin. My real brother isn’t in a rush, and I, as his sister, don’t need to worry about him. But my eldest cousin is almost thirty, see how anxious my aunt is, though he isn’t."
Ruby Bluen learned that her daughter had found a girlfriend for Ivan through her words and earlier calls. She lovingly tapped her daughter’s forehead, "You’ve introduced that Lia Aiken senior to your brother? If your brother finds out you’re up to tricks behind his back, careful he won’t dote on you anymore."
"However, Ivan should indeed consider it. Jimmy’s second child is almost walking. Ivan and Jimmy are the same age; Jimmy’s already a father of two, and Ivan doesn’t even have a girlfriend."
Ruby Bluen knew her sister was anxious but couldn’t do anything about Ivan as it’s a lifelong matter, and Ivan must have someone he likes.
Whenever Julia came over to complain, Ruby could only comfort her sister, saying the Horne men’s pattern indicates marrying after thirty isn’t something to worry about. As for why Jimmy married early, well, that’s the Reyes Family’s influence.
"Mom, I just feel my Senior Lia and big brother are quite fateful. Grandpa Yuelao surely tied a red string to their feet. Big brother likes Sister Lia, and Lia feels immense gratitude for him." Lena Horne intuitively sensed that her big brother and Lia had chemistry.
She shared Lia and Ivan’s fateful link with her mother.
Ruby Bluen listened as if it was just a story, not taking it seriously.
As for her daughter’s mischievous arrangement, as the main character, Ivan hadn’t said anything, so she, as a bystander, would say even less.
A girl recognized by her daughter at first sight as her cousin-in-law couldn’t be bad in Ruby’s eyes. Even if her daughter was young, she had excellent taste.
Thinking this, Ruby became increasingly eager to watch this play out.
Lia and Ivan didn’t know they’d been calculated by a young Lena.
Once at the Valence Hotel, Lia just got off the car and saw Ivan coincidentally returning to the hotel. Ivan also saw her.
Lia was surprised yet delighted.
Ivan was momentarily stunned; his sister’s senior was Lia?
