"Does that mean you want to kill me to keep it quiet?"

Hearing Alice Turner say such cheeky words, Thomas Fisher couldn’t help but laugh. If she could still say something like that, it must mean nothing serious happened on her end, so he casually joked with her.

Without missing a beat, Alice replied, "You can seal your own lips."

The person on the other end of the line didn’t press further, which made Alice feel much more at ease.

"Alice! You’re so cruel to me, I’m heartbroken." Thomas knew Alice was joking and wasn’t the least bit angry. He pretended to be heartbroken over the phone.

Even though she couldn’t see him, Alice could just imagine the man putting on an act, and her lips curled into a smile. "Haven’t you heard the saying ’the most venomous is a woman’s heart’? You better watch out in the future."

The curve of her smile was in stark contrast to her harsh words, yet somehow, it didn’t seem out of place at all.

"I’m so scared!" Thomas jokingly played along, pretending to be terrified on the other end of the line.

At that moment, Alice suddenly saw Alexander Shaw’s car driving out of the hospital. She wanted to hide, but the area was wide open with nowhere to take cover.

Beep beep beep!

Driving by, Alexander also spotted Alice and honked to signal her. He slowly pulled up not far from her and lowered the window, calling her to get in the car. "Alice! Get in, I’ll give you a ride home."

He tilted his head to look at the back seat, gesturing for her to get in.

"I’ll call a cab myself..."

"Why call a cab when there’s a car right here? Don’t be so formal, just get in already."

Alice wanted to call a cab, but before she could finish speaking, Alexander cut her off and insisted she get in his car.

After hesitating for a moment, Alice glanced at the two people in the car and finally opened the back door and climbed inside.

Once in the car, she suddenly remembered she was still on the phone. Not knowing what the person on the other side heard, she didn’t think further and discreetly hung up the call.

Seeing Alice settle in, Alexander released the brake and hit the gas, driving the car onto the road.

"Uncle! Auntie! It’s all my fault for dragging you to the hospital this late." After driving a short distance, Alice hesitated repeatedly before mustering up the courage to apologize to the two in front, even though the man was really annoying, she hadn’t meant to disturb them.

This past half year, she had gotten used to calling him Dad, so when Alexander Shus wasn’t expecting her to call him Uncle, he was momentarily confused before realizing she meant him.

She was no longer his daughter-in-law. Sigh! It was all that brat’s fault for not knowing how to cherish her.

"Don’t blame yourself too much. This couldn’t all be your fault." Although he hadn’t figured out exactly what happened, Alexander knew Benjamin must have done something inappropriate to Alice at the Turner Family’s place; otherwise, she wouldn’t have pushed him.

Because the conversation in the hospital safety passageway hadn’t been too pleasant, Isla Lane hadn’t uttered a word since Alice got in the car, nor did she turn to look back.

Alice had a vague feeling of Isla Lane’s cold attitude before getting in but had no intention of asking for trouble. She played mute, sitting quietly in the back seat.
