Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate
Chapter 914: Naturally Impressive
Mason Wilson suddenly felt as if an arrow had pierced his heart. Is this what Sophie meant just now?
Being too accustomed leads to being overlooked... This feeling is really unpleasant.
Seems like he needs to learn a thing or two from Charles Seymour.
"Brother, this is Sophie and her fiancé Charles Seymour," Clarissa Taylor formally introduced them. After the incident exposing Ophelia Wilson, her brother had left on a business trip and hadn’t officially been introduced.
"Uncle," Sophie Wilson called out happily.
Charles Seymour’s face remained expressionless, but he also said, "Uncle."
"Charles is quite reserved," Clarissa explained with a smile, ensuring her brother didn’t misunderstand.
Charles glanced at Clarissa, feeling a gentle warmth in his heart; she was protecting him.
Jerry Taylor smiled; perhaps due to teaching at the university, he carried an elegant scholarly aura in his every move.
It felt different from Jim Perry’s refined aura, which was the aristocratic grace of a family scion, easily distinguishable.
"Brother, you’ve been on this business trip for so long—perhaps you should take a break. We’re getting older day by day, and continuing like this might be too much for your body," Clarissa felt concerned for her brother; constantly traveling isn’t an ideal situation.
"Yes, this time upon returning, I won’t be heading out much in the future," Jerry Taylor said.
"Really?" Clarissa was delighted to hear this. "That’s great! You’ll be home more, and we can go out more often. My gallery isn’t busy, Sophie is at home, and we can gather often."
"Alright," Jerry nodded with a smile, knowing his sister worried about him.
"Sophie and Charles are already engaged, and I missed it while away," Jerry said apologetically. "I promise to give you both a big red envelope for your wedding."
With a laugh, Sophie looked at Jerry, saying, "I won’t hold back then."
"You child..." Clarissa scolded with a hint of reproach, "Not going to be a little polite? Do you think your uncle earns money easily?"
Her brother was just an ordinary university professor. Although his income was better than average, it couldn’t compare to that of a businessman.
"Why be polite? He’s my uncle!" Sophie stuck out her tongue playfully, making everyone in the room laugh.
In an instant, the atmosphere in the private room improved considerably, reducing the slight unfamiliarity between Jerry Taylor, Sophie Wilson, and Charles Seymour.
"Clarissa, you have a wonderful daughter," Jerry remarked. Given his age, he understood that Sophie was deliberately trying to lighten the mood.
"Yes," Clarissa nodded, but she didn’t pursue the topic further, knowing Ophelia Wilson was still in jail.
The dinner atmosphere was quite pleasant, with time passing quickly amid laughter and conversation.
Sophie marveled at Jerry’s knowledge on the ride home, saying, "My uncle is really impressive, so knowledgeable, like he understands everything."
Charles glanced at Sophie’s sparkling eyes and remarked, "Well, your uncle has been a university professor his whole life; naturally, he’s impressive."
Sophie poked Charles and said, "Mr. Seymour, did you really need to emphasize ’his whole life’? I know you have great potential too, but you really don’t need to compare yourself to everyone else. Everyone has their strengths."
Charles’s lips curled into a soft smile as he asked, "Was I being roundabout in what I said earlier?"
