Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1104: Fishing
Feifei saw her brother’s expression and burst into laughter. The little guy laughed along too, but his hands didn’t stop moving.
Guodong stood by, watching his younger siblings, happy to see Feifei laugh, just like Jing Chu when she was little.
However, Feifei was much better off than Jing Chu had been, with a happy family and loving parents.
They were much better off than the two of us. Now that we’re older, I think back to when we were young. Our aunt didn’t really like us, she only kept us around to see Dad, right?
The fishing net went into the water again. Jianbin and the other boy ran back. Seeing the younger brother playing with the fish, they crouched down to join him.
But Shi Xian thought they were going to snatch it away, so he started yelling at them, "Aah! Aah! Aah!"
Shang Zhenkun laughed out loud. "This little guy is going to give them headaches in the future."
The children continued to play in the water, but no one took off their clothes. After all, they’ve learned some modesty, and they vaguely understand the differences between boys and girls because Jiang Feifei is here. They remained quite restrained.
The second net brought in a big silver carp, weighing about five or six pounds. This was a big fish.
"Master Shang, Jianbin and I are taking it home. We can have boiled fish today and ask my mom to make it now."
"Alright, you two go ahead."
The big silver carp was directly placed in a crate, which Jianbin carried.
The other kids were envious, but they knew it wasn’t theirs.
Shang Zhenkun, of course, noticed the children’s thoughts. So he didn’t cast the net again because there were many kids here. Catching one or two more fish wouldn’t be enough to share, so he decided to leave it at that.
Brother Hongjun chuckled and asked, "Master Shang, can you give me these remaining three fish?"
"Sure, take them home. One fish at home is enough to eat."
Cheng Lin was overjoyed. Brother Hongjun couldn’t stand his expression. "Cheng Lin, if Master had kept that one, you wouldn’t be able to carry it, so today I could eat a whole fish by myself."
"Brother Hongjun, you’re so bad."
But having fish to eat, with what Master left behind, is just a small deal.
Tao Chunhe saw that there was nothing left for him, so he thought, "Master Shang, could I borrow the net? I also like eating fish."
Shang Zhenkun nodded with a smile, "Okay, but remember to let the village chief know, as these fish belong to the community."
"Alright, I understand. I’ll definitely talk to the village chief tonight.
Guodong, can you help me out?"
"Just wait a bit, I need to take Shi Xian home first."
"Brother-in-law, you don’t need to. I can carry Shi Xian and Ah Bao by myself."
Finally, they left, and Guodong helped Tao Chunhe cast the fishing net.
The two sat by the shore. "Guodong, I really love eating fish, but Xiao Zhen doesn’t. That girl got a fish bone stuck in her throat when she was little, so she hasn’t eaten fish since then."
"Jing Chu also loves fish, but she prefers the boiled fish and sauerkraut fish Aunt Jiang makes. She doesn’t like it stewed."
"I’m really envious of you."
"We siblings are quite lucky."
When two boys are together, they have a lot in common to talk about.
After about an hour, they pulled in the net again. And wouldn’t you know it, it’s unclear whose luck was better, but they caught two big grass carps, each weighing five or six pounds.
"This is just right; we each have one. Let’s go, I’ll go home with you to return the net and also ask Teacher Jiang how to make boiled fish. We can try it ourselves when we get back."
When the two young men got home, they saw Master Shang was already cleaning the fish.
"Master Shang, let me do it."
"No need for you. Is this grass carp also ours?"
"Yeah, the two of us caught two grass carps in total, one for each."
At this time Jiang Xinyu came out.
Tao Chunhe immediately went over, "Hello, Teacher Jiang. I’m Tao Chunhe, a new educated youth."
"Hello, Tao."
Speaking with Jiang Xinyu up close, Tao Chunhe discovered that she had a beauty that grew on you, not as immediately striking as Lv Jingchu’s beauty.
Jiang Xinyu had a beauty in her aura.
"Teacher Jiang, I heard you can make boiled fish. I’d like to learn from you."
"Sure, no problem. Should I just tell you, or do you want to watch me make it? If you go home and try to make it, it might be too late."
"Teacher Jiang, can I be so bold as to ask you to help me make it?"
Jiang Xinyu paused for a moment because people were usually quite reserved, and asking so directly was hard to refuse. Plus, seeing that the young man didn’t seem to be trying to take advantage.
"Alright, but you should go home and let them know first."
"Okay, I’ll be back soon. I feel bad letting the elder do the fish cleaning."
When he got home, his two sisters were sewing shoe soles.
He explained what had just happened.
"Xiao Zhen, stay home and cook rice. I’ll go over with Cousin, just in case he doesn’t get the instructions right, and we end up unable to make it."
Wang Menglin enjoyed cooking, even if her skills were average. But she liked it.
"Okay, I’ll just fry some potatoes for myself."
Jiang Xinyu saw that when one left, another came back, bringing a pretty young lady, but her eyes were quite sincere.
Even if Wang Menglin didn’t talk much, she knew how to be considerate, so she greeted everyone in the yard seriously, "Sorry to disturb you, Teacher Jiang, I’ve come to learn how to cook from you."
"You’re welcome, welcome."
Wang Menglin felt a sense of closeness when she met Jiang Xinyu, so she smiled a bit more.
Sometimes, the connections people have are quite mysterious. Jiang Xinyu also quite liked Wang Menglin. This girl had clean eyes that she appreciated.
Tao Chunhe was already crouching with Guodong, taking care of the fish.
Wei Kaiyun returned from the field and saw two outsiders in the yard. His wife and Zhao Xiaoli were chatting happily with the female educated youth, looking harmonious and sincere without pretense.
"Dad, look, we have two big fish at home."
"Did you go play at the river?"
"Yeah, I even traded chocolate for river shrimp."
Wei Kaiyun smiled and gave his son a pat on the head.
Old Yang also came in, carrying a large watermelon.
"Uncle Yang, can we eat the watermelon?" Shi Jing exclaimed in surprise. With few fruits to eat, such as the hawthorn preserves made by Mom, Shi Jing was thrilled to see a watermelon. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Of course, you can eat it today and have it every day from now on, for every meal."
Shi Jing was delighted. Old Yang also noticed the two people in the yard.
Tao Chunhe came over to greet them, and they exchanged a few polite smiles.
Meanwhile, Shang Zhenkun had started slicing the fish, with Wang Menglin watching attentively, thinking she could probably do it too.
There were no women left in the yard; they had both gone to take a bath.
Jiang Xinyu worked while explaining to Wang Menglin.
"Teacher Jiang, the fish isn’t even cooked yet, but just looking at the spices, I think it already looks delicious."
