Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 1139: A new alternative
Chief Lupan stood up. "Dear brothers and sisters. What is the most important aspect of a feast?"
Everyone turned to him. If this was a few months ago, the Tribal Chiefs wouldn’t have even spared him a glance even if he shouted at the top of his lungs. However, his tribe’s win during the Archery Competition basically legitimized his authority for the first time.
And seeing as nobody answered his question, Chief Lupan took this chance to raise his arm to the roof.
"It’s because we worship the moon!" he cried out.
And even if some of these Chiefs weren’t approving of Lupan, they still couldn’t help but howl in agreement with his words. They ate to worship the moon. It was a form of being grateful for her blessings.
"Why is this so? What does the moon benefit from us consuming food? Does anybody here know?"
And even though they were all chiefs themselves, nobody knew what the answer to his question was. After all, they just accepted the fact that eating equaled worshiping. They never actually thought about why this was so.
"Consuming food strengthens us."
Finally, a low growling voice echoed out from the Werewolve’s side. Everyone turned their head to see a man who radiated strength despite the age on his face.
This was none other than the Chief of the Fanged Moon Tribe, the very tribe that was considered to be the very best of the best. And since they were the best, this meant that their Chief held the most influence and power amongst all 12 Chiefs.
Chief Lupan nodded. "You are correct, Lord Chief. Consuming food strengthens us. And in return, this will allow us to show the world how powerful we Werewolves are! We will be able to worship the moon with pride and strength!"
And with his words, the other Werewolf Chiefs finally nodded their heads in agreement.
"The reason why we prefer to hunt our food is not because of tradition. It is because it hones our strength and power, thereby making the moon beam with happiness, hence why we can see her smile at night."
The Zentmeister Patriarch and the other Upper Echelon companies were completely quiet during this part.
Even though this was their presentation, they felt like they were completely sidelined!
And even if they felt as if something wrong was happening, they couldn’t even say anything simply because it was not their place to do so.
"So in conclusion," said Chief Lupan. "What we need to consume is something that actually strengthens us. Not something that only stimulates prey," he said.
It was at this point that the Zentmeister Patriarch knew that they were screwed.
The other Werewolf Chiefs were starting to get influenced by Chief Lupan’s words.
Then finally, he said the killing words.
"What we really need is food that will not only sustain us, but make us powerful as well! I present to you... the Chocolate Ice Cream!"
Chief Lupan took out a tub of chocolate ice cream as well as twenty or so tasting spoons. It was clear he’d been preparing for this since the beginning.
"What is that?"
The Werewolf Chiefs simultaneously expressed their confusion at seeing such a strange food. Where was the blood? Where were the striations of the muscle fibers? Why was it smooth?
They were used to eating only meat. They expect their food to still be half-alive when they take a bite.
This ice cream looked cold as well. They could feel the frost emanating out of it. In Werewolf culture, the hotter the food, the better.
"From which animal did this come from? I’ve never seen such color of blood."
Chief Lupan shook his head. "It is not blood. It is cream. Partly made out of cow’s milk."
The other Werewolf Chiefs thought this was weird. They did drink milk, but only to satiate their parchness. They never ate it simply because solid milk was spoiled and very bad to consume.
Seeing their reactions, Chief Lupan gave them each their own spoon. "I can attest to this myself. This chocolate ice cream will surely make the moon happy."
And with those words, the other Werewolf Chiefs finally relented and took a scoop of ice cream. They wanted nothing more than to prove Chief Lupan wrong.
Once they tasted this chocolate ice cream and disproved his words, then they could finally stop listening to his words.
And so, they took a single scoop.
Immediately, the hairs on their arm started to grow. This wasn’t just their hairs standing on end. It was actually their fur starting to come out!
The Werewolves couldn’t believe this.
"AWOOOO!"
The Zentmeister Patriarch and the other Upper Echelon companies didn’t know what was happening. The Werewolf Chiefs were suddenly starting to transform!
"HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!"
"This... this has the same effect as Moonstone!"
That was right. The chocolate ice cream had the same effect as the very item that all Werewolf need in their daily lives.
Moonstone was the item that allowed Werewolves to safely transform into their wolf form even without the moon present in the skies.
Without the moon and without moonstone, a Werewolf would risk their sanity and their health if they wanted to transform into a wolf for long periods of time.
That was why moonstone was so important. It’s what allowed them to still be active despite the moon hiding in the clouds.
Yet, because of its rarity, Werewolves rarely used it unless it was for emergencies. Usually, it was only reserved for the chiefs and his soldiers.
But now, it seems that they have found an alternative.
"Where did you get this chocolate ice cream?" the Lord Chief asked.
He immediately knew the importance of such food.
"The Reborn company supplies chocolate ice cream for anyone who desires them. You can purchase one for yourself during their Feast!" Chief Lupan enthusiastically said.
The other Werewolf Chiefs began to discuss amongst themselves. They wanted that chocolate ice cream.
