Chapter 1049: Chapter 828: Compensation—A Loss Greater Than the Gain (2)

When I got into the car accident, I unexpectedly met Ying Han. She had never mentioned it to Han Yi or me, but it wasn’t until this morning when Ying Han brought some fruit to visit me that I found out.

Lin Wan didn’t expect it to be such a coincidence—the hand she grabbed that night should have been Ying Han’s. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"How many days are you staying in the Capital City? If you have time, come visit my home; my mom came over a few days ago as well."

"Oh, Aunt Liang is here too. Unfortunately, I have to go back early tomorrow morning. Is Sister Xiao Wan staying here for her pregnancy?"

"Yes, the baby will probably be born here. I have to go back in two or three months."

"For the child, it’s the same anywhere. It’s just a matter of a couple of months."

"As true as that is, nowhere feels as comfortable as home." Lin Wan smiled helplessly.

Ying Han stayed for a while and chatted with Lin Wan, but seeing the late hour, she stood up to take her leave.

They agreed that she would visit the compound to see the baby when they returned in a few months.

Lin Wan smiled and nodded, quickly getting out of bed to see her off. Ying Han dared not let her come to see her off and quickly stopped her from getting out of bed.

At this moment, Han Yi came in with water from outside, stopping her from getting out of bed, and went out to see the guest off himself.

As Lin Wan bid farewell to Ying Han, she inadvertently noticed a crescent-shaped blood-red mark behind her right earlobe. Lin Wan was puzzled for a moment—it seemed familiar, but she couldn’t recall where she’d seen it before.

Lin Wan didn’t think much of it and simply found the shape of the mark quite interesting, though it somewhat impacted her appearance.

After seeing Ying Han off, Han Yi returned and saw his wife sitting in bed in a daze. He chuckled and handed her the already cooled hot water, "What are you thinking about?"

Lin Wan held the cup and took a sip of water, shaking her head, "Nothing... Huh, the water tastes pretty sweet today."

"It’s just the same water." Han Yi affectionately ruffled her hair.

"Don’t believe me? Try it," Lin Wan said, placing the cup to Han Yi’s lips. Han Yi obliged and took a sip, raising his eyebrows in agreement, "Maybe the water room cleaned the tank today. I just fetched a pot; if you want some, drink more. Drinking more plain water is good." Han Yi said, taking another sip, feeling refreshed after drinking.

Lin Wan nodded in agreement, knowing plain water was indeed beneficial for health, especially when it tasted sweet and was rich in minerals, making her feel comfortable after drinking it. Her skin felt supple, and the baby in her belly seemed more active.

Lin Wan nodded, "You mentioned that during the accident, Ying Han and her friend helped get us to the hospital promptly, staying until after my surgery. They’ve been so considerate towards us. How should we thank them?" Considering her condition at the time, without a swift hospital transport, both mother and child might have been at risk.

"If it weren’t for Ying Han keeping an eye on you—talking to you, encouraging you, and looking after Little Star—without them, Chen Haichang alone couldn’t have managed. Once you’ve delivered the baby, we should invite them for a meal. You women understand each other best, so you can pick out a gift as a token of thanks."

"Yes, we should definitely think about it. It’s practically a lifesaving grace."

Han Yi had been accompanying Lin Wan in the hospital these past few days. With both moms here, things were more leisurely, usually just helping with meals and household tasks.

Liang Hongmei spent her days chatting with Shen Qing and Liang Qian in the courtyard. They would chat the entire morning or afternoon, then deliver meals when it was time to eat.

The two lawyers hadn’t reached an agreement yet, neither backing down. Finally, Mr. Mei didn’t want them to continue arguing and directly offered eighty thousand to Xiao Yi.

Xiao Chi was resentful; he had painstakingly saved money only to have Ye Qing steal so much, leaving just enough to pay the madwoman’s three-thousand treatment fee and fork over a large sum to Han Yi. He disagreed, but both his father, grandfather, and uncle sided with that jerk Han Yi.

Once the money was handed over, Han Yi took Lin Wan out of the hospital the next day, directly returning to the courtyard to recuperate.

When Xie Lingzhi found out, she became so enraged that her hypertension flared up, and Mei Langchi nearly flipped a table.

Lin Wan wanted to return to Z City, unanimously opposed by both moms, including Han Yi.

Prior to the accident, going back was fine, but now that it happened, they dared not let Lin Wan travel. Besides, the primary doctor knew Lin Wan’s condition, ensuring greater safety during delivery later.

Han Yi had been delayed here for quite some time and needed to return to the squad. After discussing with the two moms, Liang Hongmei agreed to stay here with Lin Wan, while Shen Qing took Lijuan back home first to inform them, bringing more clothes over.

On Lin Wan’s third day post-discharge, Han Yi took Little Star, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law up on the train.

Little Star had already started school for quite some time, and given that she had to stay here for another couple of months, they couldn’t let her fall behind in studies.

Upon return, Han Yi could take her to school, or if he was busy, they could trouble Sister-in-law Jiang and the cousin to look after her.

Planning to stay here for two or three months, Lin Wan thought it convenient to install a phone at home. This way, she could easily contact family, allowing Han Yi to know her situation, easing his worries.

Regarding the restaurant Chen Haichang mentioned earlier, he directly brought the chef to the Capital City these past few days.

With mom around, Chen Haichang didn’t bother Lin Wan anymore, but caught the right person, asking Liang Hongmei to study some dishes and teach the chef. The restaurant in the Capital City was already renovated, just waiting for the chef to take his place.
