Reborn in the 1980s: Recapture My Devoted Husband
Chapter 1054 - 831: The Child Is Missing (Part 2)
"Alright, I’ll make you nutritious meals that won’t make you gain weight, okay?"
"Mm. Okay."
Han Yi stayed home for two days, taking care of everything related to Lin Wan by himself. Even at night, Han Yi would sleep beside Lin Wan to look after the child.
This left both moms with nothing to do, so they would just help Han Yi buy groceries on the street, not worrying about anything else.
But it was just for two days, as Han Yi had business in the Capital City. On the third day, he went to the army. Still, he came home early every night and didn’t let Lin Wan take care of the child, insisting that she rest well during her confinement. Apart from breastfeeding, drinking water, and changing diapers for the baby, Han Yi did everything.
With her husband, mother, and mother-in-law revolving around her and the baby, and godparents visiting occasionally, Lin Wan’s confinement was quite comfortable.
Mei Shuping would occasionally sneak over to see the child, but every time he came, he got cold faces from the family.
Mei Shuping knew it was improper to secretly have the adjutant handle certain matters. He knew Han Yi wouldn’t agree, so he thought of doing it secretly, something his father had discussed with him before.
He thought that once he changed the child’s surname, Han Yi and the others would have no choice. Even if the Lin Family brought it up, they could argue that Han Yi returned to the Mei Family, making the demands reasonable. Even if they were unsatisfied, they could only talk behind their backs.
He had planned to handle it himself, but Lingzhi watched him too closely. Unexpectedly, she detained him that day, not allowing him to go out. With no choice, he entrusted someone close to him.
Unexpectedly, the matter wasn’t handled well, leading to a big quarrel between Xie Lingzhi and Shen Qing.
Now he’s in a bad position on both sides, not even being able to look at his grandson without facing hostility. He suddenly felt like a failure in life.
Besides, the large pile of family matters at home was a constant source of frustration for him.
But these troubles weren’t even the worst of his worries.
That day, after Xie Lingzhi finished eating, she went out to play cards again. When she came back, a major incident had occurred at home.
After finishing the card game, it was time for dinner, but returning home, she found the stove cold and no sign of the maid.
"Mom, where did Aunt Li go? It’s this late, and she hasn’t cooked yet."
Xie Lingzhi went to ask Old Mrs. Mei in her room, only to find that both the old lady and Mr. Mei were not home. She didn’t know where they went.
She was surprised and didn’t know where everyone had gone. She assumed the maid took the child and the two elders out, so she didn’t pay attention. Unexpectedly, Mei Shuping returned, bringing the two elders with him.
"Hey, why didn’t you tell me you took Mom and Dad out?" Xie Lingzhi said, while helping the old lady into the house.
Mei Shuping replied, "I came back early today to take Mom and Dad for a check-up. I told Aunt Li this morning. Didn’t she tell you?"
"What? Aunt Li? I haven’t seen her since I got back. I thought she took Hua Hua and the parents out for a stroll. I didn’t come back at noon; I went to my mother’s place."
Old Mrs. Mei frowned upon hearing this, "At this hour, where could Aunt Li have taken Hua Hua without cooking?"
"Exactly, I came back to a cold kitchen," Xie Lingzhi said.
The family saw it was getting late, and with no sign of Aunt Li bringing Hua Hua back, Mei Shuping and Xie Lingzhi had no choice but to search in the courtyard.
But after searching the entire courtyard and even the opposite one, they found no trace of anyone.
Only after asking the guard at the gate did Mei Shuping find out that Aunt Li took Hua Hua out after nine and never returned.
Upon hearing this, both Mei Shuping and Xie Lingzhi feared the worst, suspecting that Aunt Li might have abducted Hua Hua. They hurried home to call the police, but upon arrival, they saw Mr. Mei pointing at something on the table, trembling with rage.
Old Mrs. Mei was nearby, slapping her thigh, lamenting, "The heavens have no eyes, bringing disaster upon our family—such a rebellious grandson to deceive us!"
"Dad, Mom, what’s wrong? Don’t be angry now; there’s a big issue. This morning Aunt Li left with Hua Hua and hasn’t come back. Xiao Zhi said she left Hua Hua at the kindergarten this morning."
"Yes, Mom and Dad, I just dropped the child off. How could I have picked the child up again? Moreover, at that time, I had just left and didn’t instruct Aunt Li to pick up the child. Aunt Li must have taken advantage of our absence to abduct Hua Hua. We must call the police quickly; delay any longer, and we might never find my grandson."
"Why bother calling the police? Look at these... look at this stuff. If you’re not ashamed after seeing it, then you may call the police," Old Mrs. Mei said, pointing at the things with a look of pain.
Mei Shuping and Xie Lingzhi had no idea why the elders were so furious. Originally helping Mr. Mei calm down, Mei Shuping furrowed his brows and looked at the things on the table.
Initially looking confused, Mei Shuping, after seeing the items, kicked the table in anger, cursing, "Damn it!"
Frightened and confused, Xie Lingzhi took several steps back, "What is it? Why are you suddenly so angry?"
"Hurry up and find that ungrateful child! I need to see what he’s up to. And Ye Qing, this Ye Qing is definitely a nemesis for our family."
"What is it? What happened?" Xie Lingzhi, still puzzled by their reactions, picked up the items to look closely. Upon seeing the results, she clutched her chest in shock, looking at Mei Langping with disbelief, "This... this... Hua Hua... No way... it’s not possible."
