Chapter 538: Chapter 536: Don’t Work Too Hard

"I get the feeling the boss was deliberately showing off his status in the relationship back there."

As they left Yanbei University, Song Fan made the comment while riding her electric scooter, with Cui Hao still seated behind her.

Cui Hao sat behind Song Fan, arms crossed. He only dared to glance sideways. The sweet fragrance unique to a young woman occasionally wafted to his nose, giving him a strange feeling.

Hearing Song Fan’s words, he responded, "Can’t you think of it another way?"

"Isn’t that what it was?"

"Couldn’t it be that he was indirectly announcing to everyone that Lin Xi is his woman? That you guys should stop hitting on her!?"

Song Fan had a sudden realization. "Oh, that’s right. So that’s how it is. That’s our boss for you. Absolutely savage. That guy must be kicking himself now, right? Haha! Of all the people to pursue, he went after our boss’s lady. Didn’t he do any research before making a move?"

She really liked that, though. Haha!

Song Fan hadn’t expected that delivering milk tea would also come with some juicy gossip.

Those thirty-one cups of milk tea were so worth making. Haha!

"Do all you girls like guys like Xue Yang?" Cui Hao suddenly asked.

"Who wouldn’t like a guy who’s handsome and considerate?"

"Oh."

"Judging by your tone, does that mean no girls like you?"

"..."

"I can’t believe you have that kind of trouble."

"Do you have that kind of trouble, too?"

Cui Hao’s face reddened slightly. "Is that strange?"

Song Fan couldn’t see his expression and just replied, "Yeah."

"How is it strange? Didn’t you just say you like guys who are considerate and handsome like Xue Yang? I’m... not considerate."

"But you’re rich. Most girls also like rich guys."

Anyone who can sit and discuss major business with Xue Yang must be a big shot, too. After all, she knew Ming Yue was the owner of Yonghui Supermarket. Oh, wait, the owner of Yonghui Supermarket has changed. It’s Xue Yang now.

Out of the blue, Cui Hao asked, "So, do you like that?"

"Me? Of course, I do. But I prefer having my own money even more. You can only truly stand tall when you’ve earned your own wealth."

"Oh."

"..."

「Back at the milk tea shop.」

Song Fan immediately told Xue Yang about her innovative idea.

"If you’re confident, you can give it a try," he said.

Receiving Xue Yang’s approval, Song Fan was so happy she almost jumped for joy.

"Boss, you’re the best."

It was clear she genuinely loved making milk tea.

"Don’t just label me as the ’nice guy’."

"Hee hee. I’ll go clean up now."

Song Fan went back to the counter to clean up.

Xue Yang, Cui Hao, and Ming Yue continued to drink the milk tea they hadn’t finished earlier, taking the opportunity to review the day’s handover details.

"Based on how things are going, we should be able to complete the entire handover by tomorrow," Ming Yue said, sighing in relief.

That hot potato had been a source of worry for as long as it was in her hands. Now, she could finally get a good night’s sleep. Ming Yue felt a great weight lift from her shoulders.

"The burden on your shoulders may be lighter, but my ordeal is just beginning," Cui Hao wailed.

He had been somewhat confident about taking over the supermarket, but during the actual handover, he discovered it was a complete mess. A complete disaster, in fact. He had no idea where to start. Absolutely clueless.

"But there are two of you. You have no idea how many times I argued with that turncoat Wang Doudou over this supermarket. He wouldn’t listen to a thing I said. He insisted on doing things his way, made a mess of everything, and still refused to admit he was wrong. If it weren’t for old times’ sake, I would’ve thrashed him long ago."

Cui Hao turned his gaze to Xue Yang. "Godfather, I can’t handle this. I’m relying on you."

As she cleaned, Song Fan listened in on their conversation.

The boss really is powerful. She even suspected her boss might have a System; how else could he dare to take on anything?

Just then, the glass door was pushed open, and a fashionably dressed young woman walked in.

Song Fan recognized her; she was a regular customer who would come in every few days for a cup of milk tea and leave only after she finished it.

Today, however, her timing was off.

"I’m sorry, we’re sold out of milk tea for the day."

Deng Baoling was slightly stunned. "Sold out? So fast!" Disbelieving, she glanced at the time on her phone. "But it’s only a little after three."

"That’s right, we’re all out. Please come earlier tomorrow."

"Oh. I was in a bad mood today and was hoping my favorite milk tea would cheer me up. Now even that simple pleasure is out of reach."

Deng Baoling had no choice but to turn and leave, her disappointment clear.

Song Fan saw her crestfallen expression and, just as she was about to leave, quickly called out, "Wait a moment! While we’re out of our usual milk tea, I’ve been developing a new flavor. It’s quite unique, so it might not be to your taste, but would you like to try it?"

Hearing this, Deng Baoling immediately stopped, her face lighting up as she nodded. "Yes! Any kind of milk tea is fine."

Song Fan put the broom back in its place, washed her hands, and began preparing the drink. Two minutes later, a brand-new cup of milk tea was ready.

"Miss, your milk tea is ready. Give it a try. It’s durian-flavored."

The moment Deng Baoling heard it was durian-flavored, her eyes filled with rejection.

So much for a freebie. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have been tempted.

"Are you sure this is fit for human consumption?"

The very idea of durian-flavored milk tea sounded disgusting to her.

The employee called the flavor ’unique,’ and she wasn’t kidding.

"Of course! I’ve tried it myself, and it’s delicious. Just give it a try!"

She had originally wanted Xue Yang to try it, but then she hesitated. What if the boss didn’t like it and shot down her innovative idea before it even got started?

"Somehow, I find that hard to believe," Deng Baoling muttered.

She held the cup, wanting to drink it but unable to bring herself to take a sip.

Xue Yang and the others had also noticed the situation.

"Your employee certainly has some strange ideas, coming up with durian-flavored milk tea. Is there really a market for that?" Cui Hao mused.

Xue Yang, however, remained noncommittal. "If something like durian exists, there must be a reason for it. For everyone who dislikes it, there will be someone who absolutely loves it."

The disapproval in Ming Yue and Cui Hao’s eyes was obvious. If something like that actually launched, they were sure very few people would drink it.

"Please, miss, just try it," Song Fan pleaded, her eyes sparkling in a way that was hard to refuse.

After hesitating for a long moment, Deng Baoling decided to indulge her. Like a prisoner marching to her execution, she pinched her nose, closed her eyes, and tearfully took a sip.

Song Fan watched her nervously, hoping for a positive review.

After the first sip, Deng Baoling didn’t taste the overwhelming stench she had expected. Instead, she was met with a unique and pleasant flavor. All in all, it was delicious.

She opened her eyes and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, this is actually really good! Is there more?"
