Return of Black Lotus system:Taming Cheating Male Leads
Chapter 320 --
She stopped that train of thought before it got too dark.
The point was: of COURSE the old Master was having a heart attack. It was the most predictable plot development possible.
Heena was standing in the old Master’s study now, along with Samuel, Maya, the household physician, and various concerned servants.
She had her hand covering her mouth, her shoulders shaking slightly, her eyes closed as if overcome with emotion.
To any observer, it would look like she was crying—devastated by her father-in-law’s medical emergency, struggling to contain her grief.
But the reality was completely different.
Heena was actually struggling to CONTROL HERSELF from laughing out loud.
She desperately wanted to throw her head back and cackle with glee and shout: "THAT’S WHAT YOU DESERVE, you disgusting old pervert!"
But she couldn’t do that in public.
So instead, she pretended to cry while internally celebrating.
However, there WAS some disappointing news in all of this:
The old bastard didn’t even actually DIE.
He was still ALIVE.
The physician was explaining to the gathered family: "It was a minor cardiac episode. Not a full heart attack, just severe chest pain and temporary loss of consciousness. With proper rest and reduced stress, he should recover fully within a few weeks."
’MINOR?!’ Heena thought with outrage. ’What do you MEAN ’minor’?! If a heart attack is going to happen, let it be PROPER! Let it be DRAMATIC!’
’A real heart attack should be like an EXPLOSION—devastating, complete, final!’
’What’s this nonsense about ’chest pain and temporary unconsciousness’?!’
She mentally composed a complaint letter to the universe:
’Dear Plot Gods,’
’If you’re going to give someone a heart attack, COMMIT to it!’
’Put him in a coma for five to six months! Let people CRY properly! Let the family fight over inheritance! Let lawyers get involved! Let everyone reveal their true natures while dividing up his wealth!’
’But NO. Instead, you give him a MINOR episode and he just WAKES UP again like nothing happened!’
’This is terrible dramatic structure! I demand better!’
’Sincerely,’
’A Disappointed Transmigrator’
Heena sighed internally with frustration.
’This old guy has clearly decided that he’s ONLY going to die by the female lead’s hand,’ she thought grimly. ’He’s saving his actual death for Maya to orchestrate properly according to the original plot. How considerate of him.’
’God bless his stubborn, evil heart for being so DIFFICULT to stop.’
She felt Samuel lean closer and whisper near her ear: "At least stop crying so dramatically. It looks like you’re HIS wife more than my stepmother is."
Hearing that observation, Heena looked up at Samuel with a brilliant smile—her "crying" immediately transforming into cheerful amusement.
"Don’t worry, dear husband," she whispered back sweetly. "If YOU die tomorrow, I promise to cry even BIGGER than this. Even louder. Even more dramatically. And believe me, at that time, everyone will definitely be able to tell that I’m YOUR devoted wife."
Hearing that disturbing promise, Samuel looked at her with mock horror and said, "Even in this moment—while my father is lying there unconscious—you’re already wishing for MY death?"
Heena looked at him with wide, innocent eyes and said, "No, no! I’m not wishing for your death at all! I’m just saying that IF you ever cheated on me—you know, the way some men do—then a wife should handle it properly."
She continued in a thoughtful tone: "Divorce is good, of course. But it’s not the BEST solution. Widowhood is MUCH better than divorce in terms of social status and financial security."
She patted his arm reassuringly.
"So don’t worry! If you ever REALLY cheat on me or betray me, I won’t bother with messy divorce proceedings. I’ll just conveniently become a widow instead. Much cleaner, much simpler."
Hearing that absolutely TERRIFYING statement delivered in such a sweet tone, Samuel looked at her and said in a lower voice:
"So you—who were just a lowly SERVANT a few weeks ago—now that you’ve become my wife, don’t you think your ego has grown a bit TOO large? Threatening to murder your husband so casually?"
Heena looked at him with raised eyebrows and said, "YOU—who KNEW I was a servant—still chose to marry me anyway. And now, after EVERYTHING that happened last night and this morning—after ALL of THAT—you’re suddenly bringing up my servant origins again and talking nonsense about my ego?"
She crossed her arms.
"Have you gone NUTS or what?"
Samuel looked at her seriously and said, "Sometimes I really think I HAVE gone completely insane. The moment I agreed to marry you was probably when my sanity officially departed."
Heena snorted and said, "Well, you ARE nuts. But at least TRY to look sad—your father just collapsed from a heart attack."
Samuel scoffed quietly and said, "Oh PLEASE. I would literally lick the God of Death’s SHOES if this old bastard would just die easily and stop causing problems."
He glanced at his still-unconscious father with clear disdain.
"But he’s a really strong one. Evil and stubborn. He’s not going to die easily at all. You know what they say—evil people live for THOUSANDS of years. It’s us pure, innocent, kind people who die young and tragically."
Hearing Samuel describe himself as "pure, innocent, and kind," Heena looked at him from head to toe with an expression of complete disbelief.
Her eyes were clearly saying: ’Pure? Innocent? KIND? YOU?’
But then she hurriedly turned her head around because Maya was approaching.
And oh God. OH GOD.
Maya was crying.
Like, REALLY crying.
Miraculously, beautifully, dramatically SOBBING with tears streaming down her face in picturesque rivulets.
Heena had honestly never seen someone cry so much, so easily, so BEAUTIFULLY in her entire existence across multiple worlds.
’This woman could give professional actresses LESSONS,’ Heena thought with grudging admiration. ’She’s better than those movie drama stars who cry on command! She’s producing tears like she has an internal faucet!’
The irony was absolutely delicious:
Maya had literally been outside having a romantic, potentially affair-planning meeting with Chen Yifan just MINUTES ago.
And now here she was, crying over her husband like she was the most devoted, loving wife in the entire world.
’What beautiful acting,’ Heena thought sarcastically. ’What DEDICATION to the role.’
But then, while looking at this elaborate performance, something occurred to Heena.
Something that made her pause.
She slowly turned her head to look at the System, who was floating invisibly beside her.
And she thought very deliberately in her mind: ’Wait. There’s something wrong with this world.’
Hearing that sudden observation, the System visibly FROZE.
Sweat immediately began forming on his little lion forehead.
Heena continued thinking, analyzing the situation: ’Why is there something so off about this world? My original mission assignment was supposed to be dealing and overcoming the most difficult and abandoned worlds or the most nonsensical world that no host agrees to take, right?’
She mentally reviewed everything that had happened so far.
’But the LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY in this world... until now, I don’t think it matches a basic punishment mission AT ALL.’
’Like, even a White Lotus villainess—even a SIMPLE supporting character transmigrator—could have dealt with Maya and this household situation easily.’ 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
’So why the HELL am I even in this world? What’s the actual mission complexity that required sending ME specifically?’
She looked directly at the System, who was now DRENCHED in metaphorical sweat.
