Rhain and Seris stepped out of the courtyard together, walking side by side through the quiet pathways of the Azure Cloud Sect.

The moon hung high above the mountain peaks, full and luminous, with a gentle night breeze blowing occasionally.

Everything was peaceful.

The disciples were long asleep, and the only sounds were their own quiet footsteps against the path.

"Do you remember when we used to carry water up these steps?" Rhain asked quietly, breaking the silence as they passed the lower training fields. "Back then, we used to spend hours just trying to avoid drawing any attention."

A soft smile touched Seris’s lips. "I do," she said, "You were always so quiet, keeping your eyes glued to the ground. And I was just the cursed girl with silver hair that everyone avoided."

Rhain let out a low, amused chuckle. "And I remember you sneaking extra portions of cold congee from the cafeteria when Callum wasn’t looking, just to make sure I had something to eat."

"I was not sneaking!" Seris pouted slightly, but her eyes fluttered as she recalled those not so old memories.

Back then, they were the weakest of the weak—disposable labor beneath the title of outer disciples.

But even in those hard moments of their lives, they had each other.

Seris looked at Rhain with her side eye as they walked, he looked confident, there was no trace of the past Rhain anymore, "You have changed so much now, Rhain. Now no one dares to look you in the eyes, you are the Supreme Elder of the sect, and even sect master is deeply respectful of you."

"Yes, I have changed quite a lot," Rhain replied, turning his head to meet her gaze. "But it’s only for others. For you, I am still the same. And no matter how much my status or strength changes, I will always be the same Rhain for you."

Seris suddenly stopped.

Her gaze looking at the bright moon in the distant horizon.

"What happened?" Rhain asked as he also followed her gaze.

"Rhain..." Seris turned around, facing him, but her head was lowered, the silver moonlight catching the tips of her icy-blue hair, "There is... there is something I want to tell you."

Rhain looked at her, sensing the sudden, intense nervousness radiating from her delicate frame. "What is it?"

Seris opened her mouth, then immediately closed it again.

She bit her pink lip, "I will tell you... but you have to promise me something first."

Rhain replied without any thought, "Alright I promise."

"Promise me you won’t laugh," Seris insisted, "And you won’t tease me about it."

Rhain studied her face in the moonlight.

Her cheeks were already flushed a deep pink, and she was biting her lower lip so hard it had turned pale.

She wasn’t just shy, she was really nervous.

Whatever she wanted to say, it was clearly very important to her.

Rhain raised an eyebrow.

But seeing how seriously she was taking this, he gave a solemn nod. "I swear it. I won’t laugh, and I won’t tease you either. Now tell me what you want to say."

Seris took a slow, shaking breath.

She finally raised her head, her pale purple eyes meeting his dark grey ones.

The moonlight illuminated every detail of her flawless face — the slight trembling of her lips, the way her eyelashes fluttered, and the way her hands tightly gripped the fabric of her robes.

Seris opened her mouth, "I... I..."

She stuttered, her voice completely failing her.

Rhain watched her struggle in silence, his brow furrowing slightly.

He had never seen her like this before.

"Seris," Rhain said gently, "whatever it is, just say it. Tell me what’s troubling you so much."

Seris closed her eyes tightly, taking in a deep breath.

"I...I... li—like you."

The three words fell from her lips like petals drifting from a flower — soft, quiet, and extremely sincere.

Rhain went completely still.

Of all the things he had prepared himself to hear tonight, this was the one thing he had not expected.

Not because he was oblivious.

But because Seris had always been so careful, so restrained, always hiding her feelings behind her shy smiles.

She had never once crossed that invisible line, never once allowed her heart to show itself so nakedly.

Until now.

Before Rhain could even formulate a response, Seris continued speaking.

Her voice had steadied, as though the hardest part was already over, and what remained was simply the truth she had been carrying all this time in her heart.

"I know... I know you are amazing, Rhain, No one is better than you, she rushed out, the words tumbling over each other. "In the future... there will be countless women who are much better, much stronger, and way more beautiful than me. Women like Liana, who will fall in love with you."

Tears began to well up in her beautiful purple eyes, glistening under the moonlight

But she pressed on with a stubbornness that was so defining of Seris.

"And maybe... maybe you will love them back. I know I am selfish, to hope that you will be all mine. But I have decided it now. I don’t care if there are others in the future! I don’t care if you have to share your heart!"

A single tear escaped, sliding silently down her cheek.

"I just... I just don’t want you to forget me. No matter how far you go, no matter how many people enter your life... You must always love me, and you must never leave me behind. That is all I want."

Hearing her heartbreaking, utterly selfless words, and the tears falling down her face, Rhain felt his heart aching as if it would break any moment.

Even when facing enemies that could kill him, he was always calm, but right now, his heart was beating so loudly in his chest that he could hear it clearly.

Rhain didn’t say a word.

He closed the remaining distance between them, raising his hands to gently cup her tear-stained face.

With his thumbs, he softly wiped away the tears falling from her eyes.

"You stupid girl, don’t cry," Rhain whispered, his voice incredibly deep and entirely stripped of its usual indifferent facade.

He looked straight into her trembling eyes, his gaze overflowing with all the affection he could muster at that very moment.

"I do not know what the future holds," Rhain spome solemnly. "I don’t know who I will meet, or what the road ahead will bring. But I can tell you one thing with absolute certainty. Even if there are a thousand women in this world, and even if every single one of them is more talented, more beautiful, or more powerful than you... hear me clearly, Seris. Even if the stars fall and the heavens shatter, absolutely no one will ever take your place in my heart."

His voice softened as he whispered with pure love.

"You were the first person in this world who cared whether I lived or died. You stood beside me when I had nothing. You are not just someone I love, Seris. You are the reason I fight, the reason I refuse to lose. You are the most important person in my life, and nothing — no distance, no time, not a single person in this entire world — will ever change that."

Seris stared at him, fresh tears brimming in her eyes, this time though, it was born of overwhelming ecstasy.

"Rhain..." She opened her mouth, her pink lips parting to say something.

But Rhain didn’t let her speak.

He leaned in abruptly, closing the final inch between them, and pressed his lips firmly against hers.

Seris’s eyes flew wide open.

Her mind instantly went blank.

But she didn’t push him away.

A soft, helpless "Mmm..." hummed in her throat as she passively closed her eyes, her slender hands instinctively reaching up to lightly grip the lapels of his dark robes.

The two stood locked together under the vast, starry sky, bathed in the silver glow of the moon.

After a long, breathless moment, Rhain slowly pulled back, breaking the kiss but keeping his face mere inches from hers.

Seris’s face was burning hotter than a furnace, her eyes half-closed and misted with affection, her chest heaving softly.

Rhain looked at her beautiful, flushed face, his lips curving into a tender smile.

He leaned his forehead against hers, his breath mingling with hers in the cool night air.

"I love you too, Seris."

Hearing those words, the last lingering trace of insecurity in her heart was completely eradicated.

She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, burying her face into his chest.
