As the light vanished from Gunnarrās eyes, his head landed three times with a thud on the ground before rolling close to Seleneās legs.
The blood from his head poured down his neck and flowed beneath her feet.
Selene stared at the wide eyes of Gunnarr with a solemn expression, and then she shifted her gaze toward Corey who stood in front of Gunnarrās headless corpse with his massive axe by his side.
āItās just like the Capra King⦠He also cut off the head of the Capra King.ā
Selene shook her head with a light smile and approached Corey.
āI canāt believe I no longer have any issue being his slave just because heās a monster⦠Well, as long as he does me no harm, then Iām fine with it.ā
Selene gave herself a mocking smile, and then she stood beside Corey. She glanced at Gunnarās headless corpse for a few seconds before shifting her gaze to Corey.
"So, what are we going to do now?"
She asked, and Corey glanced at her before crouching to touch Gunnarrās corpse. To her slight surprise, the corpse vanished before her very eyes. She felt the space around the corpse getting manipulated so she knew that Corey had transported the corpse to his inventory
āHe also takes human corpses? Not only monsters?ā
Selene did not know why, but she felt disgusted by this thought and Coreyās actions.
āFunny how I didnāt have any problem being his slave before this.ā
Just as Selene had this thought, Pamelaās voice flowed into her ears.
"What do you need the corpse for?"
Pamela approached them while staring at Corey with curiosity. Corey glanced at her, and then he shifted his gaze to Gunnarrās head.
He replied while walking towards it.
"To study it."
Pamela raised her brows slightly, but a second later, she shrugged nonchalantly.
"Iāve not been able to study the body of Dreadkeeper before, but Iāll allow you to keep it since you landed the killing blow."
Seleneās left eye twitched, and she had the urge to comment on Pamelaās words, but she decided to keep shut.
She knew that she had to get used to things like this since she was now Coreyās slave.
Meanwhile, after Corey stored Gunnarrās head inside his Tri-Pupil Eyes, he looked at Selene.
"How many people are coming? What are their numbers,do you know how strong they are, and do you know how long itāll take them to reach us?"
Selene shook her head.
"I donāt know how strong they are since I saw them from afar. I saw at least a hundred and fifty people leaving the city gates."
"The city gates?"
Pamela raised her brows, and Selene nodded.
"When you guys were talking with Gunnarr, I decided to climb a tree to make sure there was no incoming threat, and that was how I saw the army leaving the city gates while coming in our direction."
"As for how long itāll take for them to reach us if they continue with the same movement speed, then it should take them fifteen, ten minutes for them to reach us."
Corey furrowed his brows, and so did Pamela. He looked around, and then he looked back at Selene.
"Well, letās leave⦠If possible, I donāt want to face an entire city just because of one bastard. Although Iām strong, Iām not that strong."
Corey turned, and then he spoke softly.
"Besides, itāll be a hassle battling an entire city. I donāt have the time for that."
Pamela also nodded, and then she approached Corey with Selene by her side.
"Letās clean up this place."
Corey glanced at her, "Can you do it?"
Pamela raised her brows and chuckled, "Of course."
Corey gestured to the front, and Pamela walked in front of him.
Gaze of the Seraph
Her eyes changed, and then she spread out her arms. A second later, the earth beneath them rumbled.
Coreyās eyes became pure white, and then he saw it. He saw the runes in the air and in the ground shift and bend to Pamelaās will.
The ground beneath them moved, and the crater, cracks, Gunnarrās blood, and all the damage done to the ground healed. The ground went back to normal.
The runes in the air also moved, and Corey saw the remnant energies of their battle, the shattered runes in the air, and the remnant aura that remained in the air, vanish.
The environment went back to normal, and only fifteen seconds were used to accomplish this.
āHer control over runes is impeccable.ā
Corey thought with a slightly awed expression before deactivating his Eyes of Omniscience.
āI can do the same thing, but itāll take me a longer time and more energy. Also, to do it so flawlessly would not be easy for me.ā
āRune Sage huh?ā
After their surroundings went back to normal, Pamela slowly lowered her hand and then she exhaled softly with her eyes closed.
She turned towards Corey with a light smile, "If the Ascendant or any Tainted can manipulate time or turn back time, they might be able to revert what Iāve done but trust me, it wonāt be easy for them."
Pamela smiled, and Corey raised his brows before looking around once again. A thought came to his mind, and he furrowed his brows in contemplation.
āShould I?ā
Corey thought for a few seconds, and then he shrugged.
āSure, why not.ā
Corey took a step forward, "Hold on, let me also do something thatāll make our future battle easier."
Pamela and Selene stared at Corey with confused expressions. However, in the next second, their expressions changed to one of shock and a tinge of horror as they saw Corey take out two objects.
One was a vial filled with colorless liquid, and the other was a small dark green round pill that emanated an aura that sent chills down the spine of Pamela and Selene.
"Poison?" They both exclaimed at the same time, and Corey nodded.
