Chapter 661: Now or Never
"My. How impressive...even from this distance, I can feel it, the complexity of the Ritual used to cast this barrier. This Ezel you spoke up is quite impressive, I doubt even I could pull off such an intricate barrier. I must say, I’m grateful for the humans’ sexist policies. If this woman was under the King’s forces, we may have already lost this war," Remarked Reritea, a fascinated gleam in her eyes.
Today’s the day, we’ll end this war and finally go back home. We’re a couple hundred meters outside the border of the Capital, observing the situation.
I can hear the faint sound of commotions echoing out, and there are dust clouds and plumes of smoke rising up. Looks like Revolt has already sprung into action, as planned.
"Alright, link up, everyone. Let’s go," Declared Zelmira, taking out the Ritual Scroll.
As we all linked up, she activated it, our surroundings changing in the blink of an eye. We were back in Revolt’s hideout, which was mostly empty, just a handful of its members inside. The rest must be running wild throughout the city.
"Mira, you’re back!"
"U-Uh, these Demons with you...just to be clear, they’re on our side, r-right?"
"Yes, they are. We wouldn’t be going ahead with the plan if I had failed, after all," She replied with a wry smile, before adding as her expression shifted to a more serious look, "Alright, guys, this is it. Everything we’ve been fighting for has led up to this moment, it’s now or never."
"Yeah, we know. Everything is in place, our preparations are complete."
"Good. Then, without any further ado, let’s bring this to an end and make a change for the better," She nodded with a determined grimace.
"We’re right with you. By the way, one of our scouts spotted the King in the castle a few days ago, just before you sent the initial signal to us. And we haven’t seen anything to indicate that he left, so he should be in the hidden safe room under the castle."
"Perfect, just what we needed," Responded Zelmira.
"Also, we split up our forces in each of the cardinal directions, so hopefully, we’ve split up the forces of the Knights evenly across the city."
"Cool, then let’s get going already," Chimed in Jaden with a thumbs up.
"Agreed. Where’s the Teleport Scroll to take us to the hidden shelter?" Inquired Zelmira, as she nodded at mom and I.
"Right here. And this one will teleport you back here, don’t want you stuck down there, after all."
Zelmira handed the second scroll to me, which I placed in Treasury.
"Thank you, I really appreciate everything all of you have done, everything that you’ve sacrificed and put on the line for our cause. Today, your efforts will come to fruition, I’ll make sure of it," She assured them, before adding as she walked over towards mom and I, linking up with us, "Are the two of you ready?"
"Ready as I’ll ever be, I suppose," Responded mom with a wry smile.
"I’m good to go," I nodded affirmatively.
"Good luck, Kai, I’ll see you when it’s over," Smiled Aria, giving me a small wave.
"We’ll take care of things out here, dude, we’ve got this," Grinned Jaden.
"Mhm, imma explode all over the place," Stated Ciel, an eager gleam in her eyes.
Huh, her expression shifted. Rex is probably responding to that statement.
"Yeah, what they said...uh, well, except Ciel...," Added Cleo sheepishly.
"Mhm, I’ll be counting on you guys. See you in a bit," I smiled, before giving Zelmira a nod.
She paused for a moment, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly to compose herself, before steeling her nerves and tightening her grip on the scroll. She then activated it, our surroundings changing again.
We found ourselves in a large, auditorium-like space. It had a few vents on the walls to let air in, there were a few cupboards and shelves with preserved food, as well as a number of beds set up in a row, with curtains separating each of the beds.
There was a walled-off space in one corner with a door as well, presumably a bathroom. The middle of the room was mostly empty, looks like they’ve essentially got the bare minimum down here.
And more importantly...there were a handful of people in the space, a couple of them quite familiar. The King and the Commander of the Knights, the pair I’d been hoping to see.
Zelmira swiftly took out a Ritual Scroll and activated it, casting a barrier around the room. This barrier has an anti-teleportation effect, which means there’s no escape. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Wha-...?! How-...?!" Blurted out the King in horror, stumbling back as the Knight Commander and a few other Knights rushed out in front of him.
Hm, six of them in total. But only the Commander is noteworthy, the rest are pretty weak. The Commander is also the only one among them who can use Spirit Fusion. Let’s take a look:

He had light green hair slicked back and red eyes, a goatee, a slightly tanned complexion and had a strong build.
"It’s been a long time, father. And the rest of you," Remarked Zelmira as she stepped forward.
Besides the King and Knights, there are seven others down here. They must be other members of the Royal family, maybe some high ranking Nobles too.
"D-Damn you, Zelmira! Wh-Why...why would you betray us like this?! To bring an accursed Demon into our castle, how could you?!" The King snarled furiously.
Huh, based on what I’m seeing through Appraisal, this guy’s got, like...no combat prowess whatsoever. He’s almost embarrassingly weak.
"I’ll deal with him and the other Royals and Nobles. Could I ask the two of you to handle the Knights?" Muttered Zelmira, glancing at us.
"Sure. I’ll take the Commander, you wipe out the rest, mom," I declared, stretching my arms out.
This shelter really is spacious, there’s more than enough room to fight...
"K-Kill them...C-Commander Ferin, I command you to kill them, now!"
"As you wish, my King," He nodded as he stepped forward, drawing out a sword.
