Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Supreme Reaper (2)

"Adonis Kingsbane," the entity spoke. Its voice sounded like grinding gravestones and dying breaths. It echoed inside their minds, completely bypassing their ears.

"The Architect of the Chaos Order. The mortal who defied the fate of this realm. You have grown far too loud."

Sapphira, Claudia, and Millia burst into the courtyard from the grand hall, their weapons drawn and their battle auras blazing. They instantly formed a protective circle around Mariana, Isabella, and the children.

"Step away from the Emperor!" Claudia shouted, leveling her glowing broadsword at the skeletal giant.

"Your parlor tricks do not frighten us," Sapphira snarled. Her dragon scales thickened, ready to unleash a breath of pure destruction. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

The Supreme Reaper slowly turned its hooded head toward the heroic maidens. It did not raise its weapon.

It simply released a single, heavy breath.

Woosh!

Instantly, wave of grey death-ether swept across the courtyard. The sheer force of the aura hit the wives like a physical mountain.

Sapphira was pushed back several steps. Claudia’s sword dimmed. Millia’s shadows scattered in terror.

"Do not interfere, fragile sparks of life," the Reaper warned coldly. "I am not here to harvest your tiny souls. I am the Supreme Reaper, the First Shadow of the Beyond. I come with a direct mandate."

Adonis stepped forward, placing himself between the Reaper and his family. His violet eyes burned with absolute fury.

"I do not care what titles you hold, skeleton. You have trespassed in my home. You have threatened my wives. Give me one good reason why I should not shatter your bones and scatter your ashes across the sea," Adonis stated, his voice laced with venom.

"Ha ha..." The Supreme Reaper let out a hollow, rattling laugh. It sounded like chains dragging across a dungeon floor.

"You hold power over the dirt, Adonis Kingsbane. You have conquered a tiny rock floating in a boundless sea. But your actions have rippled into the deeper waters. The balance of life and death in your realm has been halted. You have stopped souls from flowing into the afterlife. This cannot be ignored," the Reaper explained.

"I decide who lives and who dies in my empire," Adonis stated firmly, his sword humming louder. "The old cycle is broken. I will not allow your invisible masters to feed on my people."

"Your defiance is irrelevant," the Reaper replied, raising its massive scythe and pointing the curved blade directly at Adonis’s chest. "The Primus of Death, the absolute ruler of the Seven Firmaments of Death, has taken an interest in your anomaly. He commands your presence."

"Commands?" Adonis mocked, a cold smile forming on his lips. "I am the Emperor. Nobody commands me."

"It is not a request, mortal. The Seven Firmaments of Death hold the true power of the cosmos. The gods you claim to have conquered were nothing but minor gardeners. The Primus of Death oversees the end of all worlds. He wishes to meet the mortal who thinks he can write his own rules. You will come with me now, or I will harvest this entire planet and drag your soul by force."

[Objective: Survive the Seven Firmaments of Death]

Mariana reached out, gripping Adonis’s arm tightly. "Husband, no. It is a trap. You cannot go to their realm. They will strip you of your power."

"I will not let them take you!" Isabella shouted, her frost-light glowing brighter as she prepared a massive attack spell.

"We will fight this creature together! We will freeze the gates of death!"

"Stand down, my loves," Adonis said softly. He did not look away from the Reaper, but he reached back to gently squeeze Mariana’s hand.

"If this Primus wants to see me, then fighting his messenger is a waste of energy. If I refuse, they will keep sending these shadows to harass our home. I cannot allow them to threaten Aurelia or our unborn children."

"Adonis, please," Mariana pleaded, tears welling up in her eyes.

Adonis turned his head slightly, giving his wives a reassuring, arrogant smirk.

"Do you truly believe a simple god of death can hold me captive? I conquered the mortal world because they tried to oppress me. If the Primus of Death wants to invite me to his realm, then I will simply conquer the Seven Firmaments as well," Adonis said proudly.

He turned back to the Supreme Reaper, lowering his great sword but not dismissing it.

"Listen to me very carefully, Reaper. I will accompany you to meet your master. But hear my vow. If a single shadow from your realm touches my family or my empire while I am gone, I will not just kill the Primus of Death. I will tear down the Seven Firmaments brick by brick and erase the concept of death from the universe entirely," Adonis threatened.

The Reaper remained silent for a long moment. The green flames studied the Emperor, calculating the raw, chaotic power radiating from his soul.

"Bold words for a creature made of flesh," the Reaper finally said. "Step into the void, Emperor. The Primus is waiting."

The Reaper slammed the butt of its scythe against the marble floor.

Soon, a massive, swirling portal of absolute darkness ripped open behind it. The portal screamed with the voices of a billion lost souls, radiating a freezing chill that threatened to stop the hearts of everyone in the courtyard.

Adonis sheathed his great sword on his back. He turned around and pulled Mariana into a deep, passionate kiss. He then kissed Isabella, Sapphira, Claudia, and Millia, leaving a piece of his violet ether with each of them.

"Defend the empire, my loves" Adonis commanded his wives, "Keep our children safe. I will return before the next season turns. That is a promise."

"We will hold the throne, husband," Sapphira promised, "Make them regret summoning you."

"That I will."

Adonis turned his back on his beautiful family, his black imperial robes billowing in the unnatural wind generated by the portal.

He walked directly toward the Supreme Reaper, his head held high, completely unafraid of the absolute darkness.

"Lead the way, skeleton," Adonis ordered.

The Supreme Reaper turned and stepped into the portal. Adonis Kingsbane followed without a single moment of hesitation.
