Star Gate
Chapter 1778: Cooperation (II)
“Void and I have absorbed a great deal of Red Moon strength and I’ve even dismantled the Red Moon master’s dao. This sudden sense of danger that both of us feel... probably means that he’s moving nearby. He might be here to visit the Dragon master or on his way out...” Li Hao spoke rapidly, feeling a headache develop as he looked at the world.
An eighth rank powerhouse! They were in trouble now! Would Red Moon pass by this area?
“Go to the world gate and put on a convincing act.” The young man looked at Director General Zhao. “Pretend not to know if he comes, even if he probes you. If he speaks to you... scare him off with the Dragon master!”
Li Hao trusted that the director would know what to do. There was only one issue—they would not be able to hide what they’d done if an eighth rank insisted on investigating.
This was bad! What was he doing here at this time?
Li Hao hesitated, then called out to two people. “Queen of the west and the Great Li king, don’t hide. I’m worried that he’ll be able to sense the existence of faith. If he’s passed by before, he might be able to detect some changes.
“You two... should inflict some injuries on Director General Zhao and vice versa. Make it seem like you’ve just stopped fighting...”
Li Hao didn’t know if this idea would work. His face flickered rapidly through different expressions. They were up against an eighth rank! There wouldn’t even be enough time to flee if they wanted to.
It’d be best if Red Moon was just passing by. But if he insisted on lingering and even entering the world... They would really be in for it. The chaos was so big! Why was he coincidentally here and nearby??
If it wasn’t for Li Hao and Void absorbing significant quantities of Red Moon strength, they’d be completely oblivious to the developing situation. But it was also due to this that they might be detected by the Red Moon master.
Li Hao turned to Void and took a deep breath. “You need to silence both of us and hide near the world origin. If he discovers us, then we need to make a run for it. We’ll send out whoever we can! You and I are no match for an eighth rank. We’ll only be able to hold him back for a split second so the other has an opportunity to get away...”
Void nodded, not saying anything. Would the Red Moon come to them?
Who knew?
But just in case he did, their hopes of escape were nearly zero. The gap between sixth and eighth rank was too big. Even if the two of them could fight a seventh rank, they were no match for Red Moon at the moment.
......
Within the chaos.
The Red Moon master wandered leisurely through the universe. Although the Dragon master was yet to officially agree to his proposal, it was clear that he was considering it. That meant a possibility of agreeing.
However, the Red Moon master couldn’t stay in Dragon major world for long. The Dragon master was constantly on guard against him and wanted nothing more than his visitor to leave as soon as possible.
Red Moon didn’t overstay his welcome either. After a brief conversation, he moved toward Skyward Region. Without a dao universe, he could only travel on foot. It was extremely irritating as when did an overlord have to fly from place to place??
He always traveled through an expansion of the dao universe, an overshadowing of his destination, and spontaneous arrival. Only weaklings and wandering cultivators had to travel in this fashion.
Red Moon looked ahead at a familiar minor world. He’d sensed some power of faith when he passed by a few days ago and offered a word of caution to Dragon major world. However, the world master hadn’t paid any attention.
It was just two half step emperors raising a fuss. Who cared?
The Red Moon master didn’t care either; he was just watching a show.
This location was close to Skyward Region, so he hurried ahead, in no mood to greet a weakling. Not to mention, the weakling in question was a chaos beast. Those were base and crude, and this one was only a first rank.
He casually swept his consciousness over the world and... blinked with surprise.
So fast!
The power of faith had spread so quickly. Only a small portion of the world shows inklings of faith last time, but today, nearly half of the world was gripped by faith. There was a big rat sitting coiled in the void next to the world gate. It seemed to be... injured.
“It can’t fight two half step emperors?” The Red Moon master realized with astonishment. A world master had proven unable to fight two half step emperors and even lost control over half of his world. What was going on here?
Now this was interesting!
He wouldn’t have bothered with a second look if the two half step emperors had been killed and faith snuffed out. But unexpected changes had occurred in this world.
How fun!
At the same time, he frowned slightly. This world was giving him a familiar feeling—a very faint and indistinct power of desire. It seemed very similar to Red Moon strength.
The Red Moon master picked up speed and drew closer to the world. The large rat at the world gate remained unaware of his approach. It wasn’t until the Red Moon master was almost within sight that the large rat looked into the distance with a delayed reaction.
“A two-legged beast...” It jerked with surprise and erupted with mental ripples. “No... a human? A human exalted emperor?? How dare you! How dare a human exalted emperor walk through Dragon Region!!”
It seemed ready to call for reinforcement as it let loose with a surge of chaos dao.
“Are you here to support those two?!” It gnashed its teeth with hatred. “Are you their patron?! Squeak!!”
A shrill cry reverberated in the void as the rat snarled, “This king finally understands why they are so cocky! So they have a mid rank behind them... Well well!
“How dare you provoke the Dragon master...” The infuriated rat prepared to escape through the void. “Just you wait! So what if I give this world to you?? Let’s see how long you can strut around for!”
The Red Moon master blinked at the unexpected reaction. He was just passing by and had sensed a somewhat familiar presence. However, the rat lost its temper before he had a chance to say anything!
Judging from its words, it’d gotten off worse for the war against those two half step emperors and mistaken him for being their backer!
The Red Moon master stifled his laughter. He wasn’t afraid of anything, just that chaos beasts of Dragon Region were relatively more united. Antagonizing one was to antagonize them all; the Dragon master was not a magnanimous sort.
He didn’t want a misunderstanding to arise from something minor that had nothing to do with him. The Red Moon master was all by his lonesome. If Dragon Region powerhouses mobbed him, he might suffer greatly for it.
“Little rat!” He landed in front of Director General Zhao, nearly scaring the latter into a heart attack. It was only through his many years of maintaining his composure in Silver Moon that he kept a grip on himself.
“Who are you??” He trembled like a leaf. “If you dare kill me... I am a vassal of the Dragon master...”
With that, he erupted with chaos presence and brandished his claws. “I will give you guys the world, I don’t want it anymore... The Dragon master may not care about losing a world, but the alliance will not let you off the hook if you kill me. I am a chaos beast exalted emperor!
“Are you the master of the Thunder World over at the Thunder Region?!” he shrieked before the Red Moon master had a chance to respond. “You cannot kill me! If you kill me, the alliance will attack you even if it comes at a hefty price...”
“Shut up!” The Red Moon master frowned and suppressed the other with enormous might.
Director General Zhao’s heart pounded so ferociously that it threatened to leap out of his chest. He was only the large rat on the surface, he couldn’t afford to fight. He would immediately expose himself the second he made a move.
Neither could they allow the Red Moon master to venture inside for a look. Everything about him would be revealed once the man broke through the shallow layer of chaos presence on the director general.
Director General Zhao was a paper tiger. Even a fourth rank would shatter his facade with one blow, to say nothing of an eighth rank!
The Red Moon master wasn’t interested in exchanging too many words with a minor character.
“I am Red Moon!” he announced with a frown. “I am just passing by, why are you running?”
“The Exalted Red Moon Emperor...” gasped Director General Zhao. He was immensely shocked while terror filled his eyes, as if sounding the alarm that Red Moon was invading Dragon Region...
The Red Moon master could read the accusation from the rat’s reaction and was all the more resigned for it. It wouldn’t come down to a first rank to discover my invasion if I was really here for that! I’d slap you to death with one palm strike if you weren’t a chaos beast and we weren’t in Dragon Region!
“This seat is not interested in your affairs.” He tamped down his displeasure and addressed the rat with a noncommittal air. “The two half step emperors in your world have nothing to do with this seat. This seat is not interested in seizing a first rank world!”
Director General Zhao nodded furiously and looked around furtively. Given that he was currently a rat, he appeared even more shifty. “Yes yes, understood. This humble one has misunderstood. Does milord require some food?”
“......” Killing intent blazed out of the Red Moon master’s eyes. Although he didn’t care about the humans of this world, he was a human! How dare you offer your food to me?!
Director General Zhao jerked back with renewed horror and trembled like a leaf. “No, no... I mean...”
He was so horrified that he contorted with anguish before a nauseating stench rose behind him.
The dao of ingress!
“......” Red Moon was truly taken aback. Could exalted emperors... still fart at their level of body control? He was seriously astonished!
Fuck! This stinks! It really smells! Has it pissed itself with fear? Is there a need for that?! You’re an exalted emperor!
Red Moon was utterly disgusted. Being an eighth rank, it’d been so long since he didn’t have all control over his body. But right now, there was an exalted emperor terrified into peeing itself in front of him...
He was suddenly concerned about scaring the little rat dead.
All interest in the situation fled, leaving behind only contempt and despise.
“There’s no need for anything, keep it for yourself!” he said faintly before vanishing.
Director General Zhao was still farting—his farts were growing ever more pungent. The nearby chaos seemed to be tainted, causing the distant Red Moon master to shake his head. So even exalted emperors could be scared into peeing themselves.
It seemed that whether it was chaos beasts or humans, they were all the same. Chaos beasts were also the type to fear the strong and bully the weak.
The Red Moon master couldn’t be bothered to think more of the matter; he chose to forget about the faint tendril of desire he’d felt earlier. Perhaps there were also cultivators of desire in this world, or perhaps the little rat’s desires had been strong. Or maybe...
Whatever it was, he was wholly uninterested after that fart. How droll!
