Ye Chen looked at Uncle Qiang behind him, feeling he had been somewhat careless.

He was so eager to answer the phone just now that he didn’t notice someone was following him.

The words he had just exchanged with Zhou Susu were likely overheard by Uncle Qiang.

Before Ye Chen could say anything, Uncle Qiang spoke, "Mr. Ye, you don’t have to worry. I’ll go to the police station and turn myself in right now."

"Mr. Ye, you can’t fool me. I’ve already heard the conversation between you two." Uncle Qiang directly exposed Ye Chen’s lie.

"I said you don’t have to, and I’ll handle things with Susu." Ye Chen said sternly.

The old lady just had surgery, and this is when she needs family the most. If Uncle Qiang leaves now, it will surely put her in a bad mood, which is not conducive to her recovery.

We’ll just tell her the Group wants me to head to the Kyoto Branch immediately. She won’t suspect anything, and she hopes I can achieve something anyway." Uncle Qiang said with a smile.

"Alright then, Uncle Qiang, make sure you’ve thought this through. Once you’re at the police station, you can’t come back." Ye Chen reminded him.

Uncle Qiang suddenly spoke up, "Mr. Ye, I have one more request."

"Uncle Qiang, don’t be like this. Just say it directly. We’ve known each other for so long, no need to be formal with me." Ye Chen quickly said.

"My mother has only me as her family. After I’m gone, I hope Mr. Ye can help take care of her. After all, she’s old, and she needs someone to look after her. Because of my mistakes, I can’t be there for her or provide her a proper send-off. Please help me fulfill this wish." Uncle Qiang pleaded earnestly.

"Uncle Qiang, rest assured, even if you hadn’t asked, I would have done it. I’ll take care of things for the elder." Ye Chen promised sincerely.

"Thank you, Mr. Ye. I owe you so much. In this life, I have nothing to offer in return. In the next life, I’d be willing to serve you in any capacity." Uncle Qiang said gratefully.

"Boss Ye, you’re too polite. Work is most important, and since my surgery is done, let Ah-Qiang go quickly, by all means, not to delay work." The elder said.

In response, Ye Chen felt apologetic and said, "Ma’am, I’m really sorry. This is a last-minute decision by the Group, and I have no say in it."

The elder knew Ye Chen had gone out to take a call from the Group, so she relaxed.

She saw it as a good thing, nothing to apologize for.

"Boss Ye, no need to say that. I’m grateful to you. Without you, Ah-Qiang wouldn’t have had such a good opportunity." The elder said cheerfully.

Suddenly, Ye Chen felt a tightness in his chest, a wave of pain swept over him.

But he didn’t show it, fearing the elder might notice something.

"Then have a good rest, and let me know if you need anything." Ye Chen said before leaving the room.

He knew the mother and son must have a lot to say, so he left the remaining time for them.

Ye Chen didn’t wait at the door, fearing that eavesdropping on their conversation would make him feel even worse.

After a while, Uncle Qiang finished instructing his mother on some matters and walked out of the room.

"Mr. Ye, let’s go." Uncle Qiang said with a smile.

Ye Chen’s mood was heavy, not understanding why Uncle Qiang was doing this.

The two of them left the hospital in single file, headed to the parking lot, and got into the car.

Throughout the ride, Ye Chen didn’t say a word to Uncle Qiang, and the car’s atmosphere was extremely tense.
