Starting Sign-In from a Billionaire God
Chapter 1349 - 1348
Hong Kong.
In the remote mountain forest of an abandoned village, the lost young man Chen Kai spotted a luxury car at the foot of a desolate hill. He had seen this car in the village before; when he was photographing a group of playing children, he saw this car driving past.
Chen Kai was delighted, as he had been lost for some time and couldn’t find his way back. With dusk approaching, he did not want to spend the night in the mountains, fearing the unknown dangers of poisonous insects and wild beasts. He didn’t believe he could survive in such a place.
It was fortunate to encounter people; he adored humanity, never had he felt such fondness for humans as at this moment. Humans were too wonderful.
He approached the luxury car, intending to ask for directions. Hopefully, the owner might even give him a lift—what a generous person that would be! Though the wealthy owner of the luxury car might not pay him any heed, surely they wouldn’t mind pointing him in the right direction.
Upon getting closer, he realized there was no one in the car.
Chen Kai observed the surroundings but saw no one; he was unsure where the occupants had gone.
Chen Kai decided to wait for the car’s owner to return, surmising the owner might be a photography enthusiast just like him, likely here to take pictures, as fellow enthusiasts, they would surely get along.
After waiting for a while, there was still no sign of the owner returning; instead, the surroundings were so quiet that Chen Kai seemed to hear some activity nearby.
Curious, Chen Kai followed the sound.
At the foot of the hill, among grass taller than a person, three individuals were present.
A well-dressed Caucasian man, around thirty years old, with stubble, exceptionally handsome, belonging to the tall and stylish type, with fair skin, appearing to be a privileged sort.
Beside the Caucasian man stood a man in a suit, an Asian, dressed in a suit, wearing sunglasses, very cold in demeanor.
These two men were watching the third person.
The third person was a middle-aged man with yellow skin, short and stout, wearing an expensive suit. He was using an iron shovel to dig the ground, having created a large pit in front of him. Whether due to exhaustion or some other reason, he was sweating profusely, his body and hands trembling.
His expression indicated that it was not merely fatigue.
"It’s getting dark; hurry up!"
The Caucasian man urged impatiently, speaking in pure London-accented English.
The stout middle-aged man wiped away a cold sweat, not daring to say much, bowing his head to continue working hard.
The Caucasian man observed for a moment and said, "That’s enough; I think it’s fine."
He glanced at the man in sunglasses beside him.
The man in sunglasses nodded and walked toward the stout middle-aged man, his hand touching his waist, coldly saying, "Put down the shovel."
The stout middle-aged man seemed aware of what was about to happen, crying out: "Please, don’t kill me, I beg you, I realize my mistake, give me a chance."
The man in sunglasses coldly retorted: "No more nonsense!"
The stout middle-aged man pleaded: "Please, help me plead with young master Smith, I’m willing to donate my entire fortune, I only beg for my life."
The man in sunglasses showed no intention of negotiating, retrieving a gun from his waist, its dark muzzle aimed at the stout middle-aged man: "Move to the edge of the pit."
The stout middle-aged man realized that nothing he said would matter, the man wouldn’t let him go. He dared not say another word, tears in his eyes, he moved to the edge of the pit he had dug.
"Throw the shovel to the side." The man in sunglasses said.
The stout middle-aged man discarded the shovel.
Still attempting to salvage the situation, he said: "I beg you, you really can’t..."
Bam!
Before he could finish, the gunshot rang out, the bullet entering his head, he instantly died, collapsing into the pit he had dug.
The man in sunglasses killed a person, his expression unchanged, indicating that this was not his first time doing such a thing.
The Caucasian man frowned slightly, showing a hint of disgust.
Neither of them noticed that at the moment the man in sunglasses fired at the stout middle-aged man, not far away, young man Chen Kai, had just arrived and witnessed the scene.
Chen Kai was instantly terrified, his mouth wide open, unable to make a sound, his body frozen in fright.
"Hurry up and deal with him, I want to go back for a pineapple bun." The Caucasian man said.
Pineapple buns from Hong Kong are famous; apparently, this foreigner was fond of them, unable to forget even at such a moment.
The man in sunglasses nodded, first bending down to pick up the shell casing from the ground, putting it in his pocket, then going to the side to pick up the iron shovel the stout middle-aged man had just used, beginning to shovel dirt to cover the stout middle-aged man’s body.
At this moment, young man Chen Kai, not far away, finally regained composure, his stiff body finally able to move.
His mind remained blank, with only one thought—escape, quickly escape, flee this horrid place.
However, his feet refused to cooperate, trembling continuously, unable to move. The voice deep within warned him not to move, to avoid discovery by the two men; if discovered, his fate would mirror that of the stout middle-aged man.
Chen Kai considered himself an ordinary person, seldom having heated arguments, always mild-mannered and kind-hearted. Facing even mildly intense scenarios, he would grow so tense that he’d tremble all over, and back pain would ensue.
Indeed, at this moment, Chen Kai felt his back ache as if it were broken, rendering him powerless even to walk.
Standing here wasn’t viable either; soon, they might discover him.
He dared not leave, nor dare to stay, sweating profusely, feeling as though he were enduring Purgatory.
He could only mentally motivate himself: "Chen Kai, calm down, clear your mind; life is singular, if you mishandle it now, you’ll be done for, it’s no joke, you genuinely will die; you must survive, you must live."
The survival instinct strengthened, finally suppressing the nerves; though he dared not walk, he could move his body. He chose to silently squat down, hiding his body in the grass, which was taller than a person, completely enveloping him.
Unbeknownst to Chen Kai, the Caucasian man was surveying the area, his gaze precisely sweeping toward where Chen Kai hid; a second of delay in squatting might have led to discovery.
Coincidentally, at this moment, a breeze stirred the grass, making them sway like waves of grain.
Perfectly concealing any disturbance caused by Chen Kai’s movements.
Chen Kai squatted in the grass, akin to a frightened rabbit, remaining motionless.
After a brief moment, Chen Kai heard the Caucasian man conversing with the man in sunglasses.
"Find some dry grass over there to cover, ensure it’s indistinguishable; though this place is rarely visited, caution is wise." The Caucasian man stated.
Chen Kai understood the Caucasian man’s English, and from the accent, discerned that the Caucasian man was English.
The man in sunglasses nodded, walking toward the direction where Chen Kai hid, the sound of footsteps approaching made Chen Kai’s face grow deathly pale once more.
