Starting With SSS-rank: I Get A New Skill Every Livestream
Chapter 133: Once again
Amanda was shocked beyond belief at what she had just heard.
"You mean to say... the one who gave you these powers... is..."
"Yes, I know it sounds absurd, Amanda. But trust me, I received my powers through my livestream. And one of the viewers even told me about Melissa." He didn’t go into the full story, only enough to explain the overall situation.
And that explanation led back to Melissa.
"Hmm?" Amanda frowned. "Your viewer knows about her? But how?"
"Because... just like me, Melissa has been blessed by that person as well. And... she’s been using her powers for something destructive. Something that could disrupt the balance of this world."
This was harder than Kyle had expected. As he spoke, even he felt like he was spouting nonsense.
Honestly, anyone would think he was lying just to hold a grudge against Melissa.
He studied Amanda’s expression for a moment, then held her hand. "Amanda... please trust me. I know my viewer isn’t lying. I’ve seen what they can do. Maybe Melissa is doing something unknowingly, something that could cause chaos."
Amanda frowned, her thoughts drifting back to the conversation she had with Melissa last night.
Melissa was a genius, no doubt. But her sudden interest in her father’s company was new.
She had become the driving force behind its growth. As the lead engineer in the workshop, she had pushed her family name to remarkable heights.
She was stunned by the sudden shift in Melissa’s approach and contribution to the company.
At the time, Amanda had been happy to see her sister’s renewed outlook on life and the rapid growth of her father’s business.
But now...
"She mentioned that Ava Klaus has become their frequent buyer. That means her reach has extended to the central government."
Hearing that, Kyle let out a quiet sigh. At least Amanda believed him.
"Yes, Amanda. It has to be connected to something like that. These people don’t just bless anyone. Melissa must have shown the potential to be chosen, but now others are exploiting her talent for their own benefit."
Amanda nodded. "I can see my uncle doing that." He was someone who despised poverty, hated weakness, and chased victory at any cost.
For a man like him, Melissa was the perfect opportunity to climb the ranks and secure an unshakable position in the country.
Pressing her lips together, Amanda fell into thought for a moment before asking, "So, what do you need to do to remove that blessing from her, Kyle?"
Kyle replied calmly, "I just need her to be immobile for a few minutes, and that’s it. I promise she won’t be harmed. She’ll only lose the ability she gained recently. Everything else will remain normal."
Amanda nodded, taking in his words. If Kyle was assuring her like this, then he had to be confident.
After a brief pause, she said, "Kyle... It’s not that I don’t trust you, but if I’m going to go through with tricking Melissa without hesitation, I need to check a few things first."
Kyle gave a small nod. "I understand. Do whatever you think is necessary." He let out a quiet sigh before adding, "Honestly, I don’t know how I would’ve reacted if you had taken Melissa’s side."
Amanda gave a faint smile. "What would you have done then, Kyle?"
Kyle shrugged. "I probably would’ve asked you a few more times. And if it still didn’t work, I would’ve rejected their request."
Amanda lowered her head, her hair falling over her face and hiding her expression.
The quiet realization brought a soft sense of relief, easing the tension she had been holding.
"Alright, let’s head to your house and set things up first. I’ll go back later to check on Melissa... and then I’ll contact you about how to proceed." Amanda said, her voice faltering slightly when she mentioned Melissa.
Kyle chose not to point it out, fully aware of how difficult this must be for her.
Without another word, he started the car and drove off, heading toward his new home.
....
The new place was a bit farther from the university compared to his previous home. Thankfully, it was on the main street, so finding cheap transportation directly to campus wouldn’t be an issue.
After parking the car underground, they headed back up to the ground floor. Kyle placed his finger on the scanner, and once inside, he entered the password Blake had sent earlier to activate the elevator.
Amanda noticed more than five cameras, starting from the parking area to the lobby and even near the elevator entrance.
A thought lingered in her mind. If someone coerced Kyle, they could still use him as the key to get inside. She needed to think about that.
Still, there was some relief in knowing that Kyle would soon reveal his identity to the world. If anyone tried to force their way in, he wouldn’t have to hold back anymore. He could fight without restraint.
The idea of the world seeing just how extraordinary her boyfriend was stirred a mix of pride, jealousy, and unease within her.
There would be countless clans eager to claim him as a husband for their daughters.
No, she couldn’t let that happen.
She knew his parents were the kind who might trade their son for benefits. That was exactly why she had to secure her place in his life, making it firm and impossible to shake.
The elevator soon came to a stop at the seventh floor, and the doors slid open, revealing a large brown door directly across from them.
With the password he had entered, this was the only floor he could access now, one that entirely belonged to him.
Kyle stepped forward and keyed in another set of numbers before the door finally unlocked.
"Haah... I’ll definitely miss the days when a simple key was enough," he muttered under his breath, stepping aside to let Amanda enter first.
She gave a sheepish smile, trying to lift his mood. "On the bright side, you’ll get a great view of the city from here."
Kyle nodded, acknowledging her effort, though he didn’t feel particularly excited about the new place.
Still, security came first.
As they stepped inside, the first thing they noticed was a wide living area, spacious enough for ten people to lie down comfortably side by side.
On the left wall, a TV was mounted, with a comfortable couch placed opposite it.
Further into the room, sofas were arranged in an L-shape, accompanied by a small side table.
Moving ahead, they found a room on the right, and just beside it was an open kitchen with a well-designed dining space. A table stood there with four chairs neatly arranged around it.
Across the dining area was a small gallery. To the left of it was a bathroom, which they didn’t check, continuing further inside until they reached the main bedroom.
The entire width of one wall was covered in glass, offering a sweeping view of the city below.
Both Amanda and Kyle paused at the sight, warmth settling into their expressions.
Amanda leaned into him, wrapping her arms around his as she murmured, "Doesn’t this feel like the love nest we always dreamed of?"
Kyle whispered softly, "Well, I’d definitely feel lonely sleeping on such a big bed alone."
Amanda slowly turned to look at him, her eyes round and slightly lifted.
Kyle held her gaze, the intensity in his eyes making her breath catch.
But just as their lips were about to meet—
"Wait." Kyle stopped her, placing his hands gently on her shoulders. "Search this room," he instructed the system.
Amanda tilted her head in confusion, only to stiffen a moment later when Kyle’s eyes turned a glowing shade of gold.
[Searching the house for surveillance...]
It might have seemed paranoid, but Kyle preferred caution over risking being watched.
And just as he had feared...
[Host, run. Not only cameras, this house is laced with Genesis sensors too!]
Fucked.
