As soon as she heard the sound, the dull expression on Lucy’s face suddenly brightened, and she sighed in relief.

When Max heard the multiple siren sounds around the building, he confirmed that they were surrounded.

He looked at Lucy and stopped bothering himself about this matter anymore. His only priority was escaping now.

"Everyone follow me," he gathered his fellow gang members and started to move quickly toward the escape route inside the abandoned building, which led straight to the forest connected to the town.

Nearby, a man shouted while running, "What the hell happened? How could the agency people arrive here now? Was this not our gang’s secret location?"

Max also thought the same, and another thought arose in his mind. This happened just half an hour after they made the threatening call to that person.

Was this really a coincidence?

Could it be that the person was really as powerful as the nurse said? After all, the lazy people from the agency would not act this fast for normal reasons.

From the sound of the sirens, nearly ten vehicles surrounded the factory.

Max said in a confident tone, "Don’t worry, everyone. With this underground secret pathway, we can escape easily."

Meanwhile, Jack arrived at the spot with Alice, Jennifer, and other police officers.

Alice ordered, "Search thoroughly every nook and corner. We must rescue the person from these kidnappers safely."

The search started, and soon they found Lucy in a separate room, bound to a chair with ropes.

Alice’s subordinate started to report the details after the search.

"Chief, the people here have already escaped. The place was empty; only the victim was found."

Alice gave him a nod and ordered,

"Later, investigate who owns this place and which gang members were active here recently."

Jack immediately went forward, started to untie the ropes on Lucy, and lifted her up.

He checked her body to see whether she was okay. When he looked at her face, which had a slap mark and was slightly swollen,

the anger that had just subsided once again exploded in his heart. An extreme killing intent flashed through his eyes.

But he controlled himself from acting rashly.

He looked at Lucy and asked, "Are you okay? Were you injured anywhere else? Let’s go to the hospital."

Lucy watched the worried and angry expression on his face and couldn’t help but feel elated inside her heart.

She hugged him and said, "Don’t worry, nothing happened to me."

Nearby, Jennifer looked at the different side of Jack in front of her and the care he showed for the woman. She thought to herself that this must be one of his women, like Alice and herself.

Her mind automatically compared this scene with her husband. Even though both of them loved each other, her husband had never expressed this kind of protectiveness and care toward her until now.

But she comforted herself— from now on, she would also receive this much care from Jack.

After that, Alice gathered her subordinates and ordered,

"Alright, everything went well. Everyone prepare to return."

After that, everyone first went with Alice to the agency and finished some formalities. Later, everyone arrived at Emily’s house. It was already late at night.

Although Jack wanted to ask for a detailed explanation about what had transpired, he decided against it. After all, Lucy must be mentally affected by this kidnapping.

When Lucy entered the hall, she was about to say something.

Jack interrupted her, "Don’t say anything. We can discuss everything tomorrow. Sleep well."

Then he invited the newly included family member, Jennifer, and went to his regular sleeping area in the big bedroom.

He didn’t disturb anyone. He lay in the empty space on the bed and hugged the three of them together. Then his mind drifted into sleep without thinking about any problems. Everything could be dealt with tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Max, along with his men, escaped through the underground pathway and reached the outskirts of the forest. He called some members of the gang and waited there.

While waiting, he decided to inform Vanessa about the matter. Within a few rings, the call was answered immediately.

"Is everything okay over there? Why are you calling this number now? I already informed you—don’t call this number without any important matter."

"Madam, sometime after you left, the police arrived and surrounded the area. If we hadn’t secured an escape route beforehand, we would have been arrested by the cops."

When Vanessa heard the news, she was somewhat shocked and questioned them,

"How did the police arrive at the location at that exact time? You were the one who said that place was suitable for this kind of operation.

I think there is a mole among your gang members. On my side, this matter was known only to me.

Now this has happened—how are you going to take responsibility? I have paid a lot of money to your people. And what happened to that nurse?"

Max, seeing this woman blaming everything on him, immediately pointed out the crucial detail she had intentionally avoided.

"Madam, don’t forget—after we made the threat call to that person, nearly half of the police force arrived at that location within half an hour.

After hearing everything, Vanessa became silent. She didn’t argue further.

Even though Lucy knew who had kidnapped her, what could she do?

After finishing her part, Vanessa ended the call without waiting for Max to say anything.

Max looked at the screen displaying "call ended." He sighed and thought, what a cunning woman—she was already planning to cut ties with him.

Then he started to plan how to report this failed mission to his leader.
