Chapter 653 - 652: The Beauty’s Resentment
Ye Fan said, "I’ve found your weakness!"
"Finding my weakness doesn’t guarantee you’ll win!" Huang Ji retorted coldly.
"At least I’ve succeeded for now. You’ve lost," Ye Fan stated calmly.
"Then kill me!" Huang Ji challenged.
However, Ye Fan shook his head. "I won’t kill you, but I won’t go with you, either. That’s my principle. I think even you would make the same choice if you were in my position," he said, his voice as calm as the wind.
Huang Ji replied coldly, "If you don’t kill me, I will hunt you to the ends of the earth and kill you!"
What intense hatred! The most frustrated one of all was Ye Fan. Was it really such a big deal to remove her veil? People shouldn’t be so unreasonable!
In response, he told Huang Ji, "You can’t kill me, and you won’t be able to find me!" He then sheathed the Yuanhong Sword.
At that moment, a noise came from above. Ye Fan didn’t know its source, but he had to remain wary of Huang Ji. He was at his most vulnerable, and she could strike at any time.
"AAAH!"
Suddenly, Huang Ji let out a piercing scream of agony, and it felt as though everything around them was on the verge of shattering. Ye Fan quickly covered his ears, recognizing the sound as a scream of utter sorrow and desperation—a way to vent the hatred pent up in her heart.
"Ye Fan, I’ll remember you," Huang Ji spoke coldly. "From this day forward, if we ever meet again, we will be eternal enemies!"
"I will not rest until one of us is dead!" she declared vehemently. Then she swiftly flew upward, pushing off the frozen ground and soaring out of the cavern.
After she had left, Ye Fan was left with a multitude of thoughts. She made it seem as if he had done something horribly wrong. He felt there was no need for such an extreme reaction. It was just a veil, after all. Why take it to such extremes?
Just then, two disheveled figures tumbled from above, crashing hard onto the ice. Ye Fan turned and saw it was Mu Chen Dong and Wu Fa.
"Boss!" the two greeted Ye Fan in their sorry state. He didn’t know what to make of these two clowns, but they were his own people, after all.
He pulled Wu Fa off Mu Chen Dong, and the two then struggled to their feet.
"Boss, I came to save you!" Wu Fa stated earnestly.
Ye Fan nearly fainted. How could he, with his sterling reputation, end up with these two clowns as followers?
Then, Mu Chen Dong pulled out the Heart of the Volcano. Ye Fan felt a wave of warmth wash over him. His heart felt warm as well, because these two had clearly gone to great lengths to save him.
"I’m fine now," Ye Fan said.
"Boss, you didn’t... conquer Huang Ji, did you?" Mu Chen Dong asked, a gossipy look on his face.
Wu Fa added, "I think so! That little vixen was so agitated when she flew out of here, she practically knocked us over."
"I bet she was taken down by the Boss!"
Ye Fan was speechless. These two really had wild imaginations. No wonder they landed in such a mess. They must have run right into Huang Ji as she flew out and been knocked aside by her.
"Would you believe me if I said I’m innocent?" Ye Fan asked.
The two immediately shook their heads.
"Boss, we’re all adults here. It’s okay, we get it!" they said, giving him a knowing look.
Ye Fan nearly cried. He couldn’t believe what clowns these two were. He was truly at a loss for words.
"That’s right! Trapped in this frozen wasteland, a man and a woman all alone for a whole day... what a scene!" The two of them shivered at the thought.
Ye Fan gave them each a rap on the head, and they instantly quieted down.
"Pack your things. We’re leaving!" Ye Fan barked.
"Oh!"
The two looked reluctant but did as Ye Fan commanded. The three of them then left the ice cave. Once outside, however, they were shocked.
"Fu Hu’s body is gone," Ye Fan said immediately.
Mu Chen Dong spoke up, "I think I remember now. He was already gone when we came down here."
"Strange. Who would carry a corpse away?" Ye Fan was puzzled. It couldn’t have been Huang Ji, given the timeframe. So who could it be? At this point, a grave possibility occurred to him.
"Perhaps Fu Hu isn’t dead," he said.
"Not dead? Impossible! That vixen ran him through with her sword. There’s no way he could have survived," Wu Fa said immediately.
SMACK!
He received a slap on the head from Mu Chen Dong, who then said, "That’s our sister-in-law you’re talking about. Watch your mouth!"
"Yes!"
Ye Fan shook his head helplessly. "Fu Hu’s strength is not to be underestimated; his overall power isn’t much weaker than mine. I suspect he was in a state of feigned death!
"He must have escaped with his severe injuries. Right now, that seems to be the only possibility. That man is a major problem. If we don’t eliminate him, the consequences will be unimaginable!"
Fu Hu was a man of both courage and cunning, which made him a terrifying opponent.
Mu Chen Dong spoke again, "Could he have been dragged away by the beasts here?"
Ye Fan shook his head. "I’d rather believe he faked his death than that he was dragged away by beasts. If he’s alive, he’s a huge problem for us!"
"It does seem that way!" Wu Fa agreed.
"Search the area. If he’s still alive, kill him!" Ye Fan ordered.
"Alright!"
The three of them set out, searching every corner of the Great Wilderness Space for any sign of Fu Hu. Unfortunately, they found nothing. But Ye Fan was certain that Fu Hu was still alive.
If he was, Ye Fan suddenly had a brilliant idea. His survival would sow even greater discord within the Evil God lineage. The Great Wilderness Main God and the Hu Ben Main God were powerhouses on par with the Red Sand Main God. If those two giants turned on each other, the matter would become much easier to handle. They might even be able to dismantle them from within.
Of course, with his current strength, he was still a long way from being able to do that. However, Ye Fan did have some good news. After absorbing the power of the Ice Soul, he felt much stronger. Perhaps it wouldn’t be long before he could achieve a breakthrough.
The gates to the Great Wilderness Space had been open for some time. The three of them left through an alternate route, as per their agreement with the Red Sand Main God and the Evil Punishment Main God.
The other Main Gods looked on, only to discover that not a single person who had entered had come back out. They grew uneasy. Could their entire force have been decimated?
As they were secretly speculating, Huang Ji emerged. Upon seeing her, they all wanted to press her for information, but she said nothing and left immediately. The Main Gods had an ominous premonition.
Knowing that something was amiss, the Evil Punishment Main God and the Red Sand Main God said nothing and took their leave. They knew Ye Fan’s character and capabilities. There was nothing he couldn’t resolve when he put his mind to it.
On this day, the gods of the Divine Domain were enraged, but their anger couldn’t change the outcome. Too many had died this time; almost all of the geniuses had been wiped out. The hearts of the Main Gods bled. Though they had other geniuses under their command, these were the absolute cream of the crop. They had intended to suppress the Righteous Divine Lineage but never expected the result to be mutual destruction.
