Hao Jian was holding the notes, baffled about what to say, while Weiwei turned around and went inside the room, doing something unknown. Suddenly, with his head down, Hao Jian heard a "bang" sound out of instinct, and immediately thought something had happened, standing up in a defensive posture.

He paused for a moment, realizing it wasn't anything serious, but rather the light bulb in the room had suddenly gone out and burst with a loud bang. At this moment, the light bulb was broken, exploded, leaving the room in complete darkness. Hao Jian turned on his phone's flashlight and walked inside.

Weiwei was clearly not frightened; she was instead visibly irritated, looking up at the broken light bulb. Perhaps she was thinking about how inconvenient the timing wasโ€”it happened right after she entered the room, which startled her.

Seeing Hao Jian enter with the phone flashlight, she waved and said, "Shine it over there. I remember there's a good bulb. Since you're here, you can change it for me. I'll go outside and get a chair."

Hao Jian followed Weiwei's directions and pulled out a new bulb from a black bag as Weiwei brought a chair inside.

With Hao Jian's height, he didn't need a chair to change the bulb, but it was a bit of a strain to do so without, especially since Weiwei had brought the chair over; he naturally stood on it to change the bulb.

Weiwei placed the chair beneath the bulb, while Hao Jian handed her his phone for lighting. He then stood on the chair, and after Weiwei turned off the power, he adeptly removed the broken bulb and replaced it with the new, functional bulb.

He looked at the broken bulb, noting the wires were burnt, as if they hadn't been used in a long time, eventually causing them to burn out when powered on. It seemed Weiwei hadn't been here for a while or hadn't used the lights in the evenings, leading to the bulb's failure.

If things aren't used for a long time, they break easily; just like relationships, if not maintained, the feelings will fade, and soon, they won't recognize each other anymore.

After Hao Jian finished changing the bulb, Weiwei walked to the switch to turn on the light. As soon as the switch was pressed, the room instantly lit up brightly, almost unbearably bright.

At this moment, Weiwei stood under the light, looking at the replaced bulb with a slight smile on her face, while Hao Jian still stood on the chair. Seeing the bulb was changed, he prepared to get down. But as he lowered his head, he inadvertently saw something he shouldn't have.

At this moment, he was high above, while Weiwei stood beneath him. She was dressed very lightly, especially after taking off her teaching uniform, wearing a loose long sleeve shirt and a short skirt. With her slightly bending over, Hao Jian cautiously lowered his head.

He froze for a moment, nearly having a nosebleed. However, Weiwei suddenly looked up, causing his heart to tighten, his gaze initially fixated on that spot immediately shifting away, as he got off the chair pretending nothing had happened.

Weiwei seemed unaware of anything, and luckily, Hao Jian reacted quicklyโ€”had he been slower, as Weiwei looked up, they would have locked eyes, and Weiwei would instantly realize what he was looking at, where he was looking.

Undoubtedly, she would get angry then; the newly-established relationship and impression would change immediately, turning into disgust, leading to issues like visiting his home, something Hao Jian would never allow.

Fortunately, Hao Jian's quick movement meant he redirected his gaze just as Weiwei lifted her head, getting off the chair. ๐•—๐ซ๐šŽ๐—ฒ๐˜„๐ž๐•“๐ง๐• ๐˜ƒ๐•–๐ฅ.๐œ๐š˜๐š–

Weiwei, noticing Hao Jian's dazed look, asked confusedly, "What, is there something on my face? Why are you staring so intently?"

Hao Jian snapped out of his daze, shaking his head quickly, saying, "No, no."

Weiwei rolled her eyes at Hao Jian's response. However, because of the sudden glimpse, his heart was uneasy; he appeared nonchalant, but internally, his thoughts were racing, and his male hormones were swiftly surging.

Feeling he couldn't stay there any longer, fearing further presence might suffocate him, especially being in such a small dormitory with Weiwei, the atmosphere too ambiguous, the space too small, her scent faintly fragrant and charming, perpetually affecting him.

He wasn't sure he could control himself, particularly in this situation where the discomfort lingered internally, so he thought of leaving immediately.

Luckily, Weiwei had no more tasks for him, and it was over half an hour past school ending, she needed to go home for something. After saying a few words, she let Hao Jian go, and then headed to the school parking area, driving back.

On the way, Hao Jian kept wondering what would happen if Weiwei knew about the glanceโ€”would she get angry, and if so, what then? He dared not think about it, since Weiwei was different from other women; her words carried a certain presence, otherwise she couldn't manage a classroom.

After a while, he walked slowly back home; Xiaohan hadn't slept yet, watching TV in the living room. On the coffee table was what seemed like local snacks. One look, and Hao Jian knew who brought it; since he once stopped the Domestic Abuser, neighbors' attitudes towards him were incredibly favorable, and the woman who was beaten often gifted him things.

He always accepted them with a smile, considering it as a small act, since it was a gesture of goodwill from others, he'd naturally accept it.

"Squeak!" The door opened, and Xiaohan didn't need to turn to know Hao Jian had returned; aside from her, only Hao Jian lived there. So she kept her eyes on the TV, casually remarking, "You're back."

Hao Jian responded, placing his belongings aside, and dropped the precious notes Weiwei gave him on the sofa. These notes were useless to him; among those he knew, only He Qiqi was diligent with studying, so he'd definitely take the chance tomorrow to hand the notes to her, otherwise they'd just gather dust here.

Since Weiwei gave them to him, the initiative was his; feeling the notes had no use for him, it'd be better to give them to a book-loving girl like He Qiqi.

He sat on the sofa, drinking a cup of water. Xiaohan, focused on the TV, suddenly turned and asked, "Are you really going through with the matter regarding Gu Peng?"

Unexpectedly asked by Xiaohan, Hao Jian answered, "Of course, I've already spoken about it."

Xiaohan was puzzled, saying, "That's not like you; based on your character you should avoid troubles, not seek out such situations."

Hao Jian was surprised Xiaohan understood him so well; she was right, that's indeed his nature. However, circumstances changed this time; his intent to engage and bet on a fight with Gu Peng wasn't for himself, and Xiaohan couldn't know Hao Jian was doing it for her.

To protect something, sometimes power is required.

Not wanting Xiaohan to know his true reason, Hao Jian laughed, "Even a cornered dog jumps; being bored here, with a dog barking in my ear, of course I want it silenced once and for all."

Xiaohan evidently wasn't satisfied with Hao Jian's answer.

"Isn't it because of Danlin?" Xiaohan suddenly said.

Hao Jian was stunned, not expecting Xiaohan to suddenly bring up Danlin.

As the saying goes, two women create a drama; Xiaohan's words rang with hostility, causing Hao Jian to feel the deep-seated enmity in her tone.

Though he didn't know why Xiaohan and Danlin were at odds, each seemed like the other's foe, despite no apparent conflict of interest.

Laughing, he said, "Because of her? No way, this matter has nothing to do with her."

Xiaohan wouldn't relent, "No connection? As far as I know, Gu Peng is pursuing her."
