Chapter 1540 - 1044: This Is a Logic Problem
After several rounds of meeting discussions, going back and forth, it was finally decided to establish the Medical Science Academy according to Yang Pingās suggestion. šš»šš®ššššš¤š«š®š.š¬šš¢
According to the post-establishment arrangement, Yang Ping is the president and chief scientist of the Southern Medical Science Academy. Tang Shun serves as the secretary in charge of managing the daily operations of the academy. The laboratories affiliated with the academy do not have hierarchical relationships, as they are parallel independent research units. They are administratively led by the academy but enjoy complete independence and freedom in academic pursuits. This ensures the laboratories connect into a cohesive whole while maintaining their independence, preventing academic rigidity.
After the establishment of the Southern Medical Science Academy was completed, the personnel remained the same, as did the equipment. It was merely an organizational restructuring, and everyoneās confidence and enthusiasm for work immediately soared, with the laboratories all rolling up their sleeves, ready to tackle big projects.
The directors of these laboratories never imagined that after the reform, their original rights would remain unchanged, yet the resources available to them increased significantly, whether it be funding or equipment, all thanks to the academyās strong support.
However, they also understood that post-reform, if someone was incapable of being a laboratory director, the new system would be unsustainable for them. Such individuals must give way to capable ones, so these directors began to dedicate all their efforts to research, demonstrating their abilities to avoid being replaced.
Actually, forming the Medical Science Academy according to this model was not a whim of Yang Pingās; it was the result of careful consideration, with the articles of the academyās basic law already clear in his mind.
For Yang Ping, it is better to have the Super Research Institute, but without this major hardware, there is no impact. The most essential aspect of forming the Medical Science Academy is the change in ideology and management to attract a large number of talented individuals, not merely building a few buildings and adding equipment, which are additional embellishments.
Even if no hardware is added, based on the current dozen laboratories, Yang Ping is completely confident in establishing an entirely new research institution.
After the overall plan is finalized, the remaining detailed issues are handed over to Tang Shun for handling, as he is the secretary of the Medical Science Academy and the organizing committee, a job at which he excels.
Inspired by Yang Ping, Dean Xia began contemplating using Yang Pingās approach to establish the Clinical Medical College, even if it meant starting his plan from scratch.
Originally, he planned to consolidate several affiliated hospitals into a powerful group under his absolute control, with all affiliated hospitals forming a whole, each of their positions equivalent to branches, and the hospital directors equivalent to branch directors under his unified leadership, marching in step.
After hearing Yang Pingās comments, he realized his thinking exemplified the "elephant mentality" that Yang Ping described, which indeed tends to lead to stagnation. He decided to adopt Yang Pingās "wolf pack mentality" to form the Clinical Academy, fully unleashing each hospitalās initiative, allowing them to become a pack of independent wolves.

Zhang Lin and Little Five brought more bad newsāa comparison of Tong Yongqianās motherās genes with her grandfatherās confirmed that the disease-carrying X gene of his mother did not come from her grandfather. It likely came from her grandmother, nullifying the initial exciting possibility of gene recombination, bringing everything back to normal.
Zhang Lin and Little Five drooped like frost-stricken eggplants, thoroughly dejected.
"What happened?" Yang Ping asked.
Little Five sighed and said, "After genetic testing and comparison, the similarity between Tong Yongqianās motherās diseased X chromosome and her grandfatherās diseased X chromosome did not meet the standard, negating the possibility that her motherās X chromosome came from her grandfather. Since it didnāt come from him, it must be from her grandmother. Following this inference, his grandparentsā chromosomes might carry the same diseased gene, possibly due to consanguineous marriage. We also investigated further, and Tong Yongqianās grandfather admitted in person they were indeed closely related."
"In this case, everything is normal. Tong Yongqianās grandfatherās Y chromosome carries this diseased gene, and his grandmotherās X chromosome carries the same diseased gene. Although rare, this situation aligns with inheritance patterns. Tong Yongqianās motherās diseased chromosome came from her grandmother and was then inherited by Tong Yongqian."
Little Five was somewhat deflated, having put in so much work, initially filled with hope, only for it to end in vain.
"Hereās the reconstructed genetic pedigree. Please have a look. The complete genetic pedigree now has no issues, fully complies with inheritance patterns, presenting no doubts or logical loopholes at all."
Zhang Lin handed over a genetic pedigree.
Yang Ping received it and reviewed it carefully. Indeed, from this perspective, the genetic pedigree had no defects. All previous doubts were resolved clearly, and the loopholes had been patched.
Clearly, scientific research is not easy, and the Nobel Prize remains far out of reach, almost akin to dreaming.
Little Five and Zhang Lin lost all confidence, finding their previous thoughts laughable.
"Where is the genetic testing report?"
Yang Ping extended his hand.
Little Five immediately took out two thick testing reports placed in the backpack beside him.
Yang Ping said nothing as he opened both reports simultaneously, comparing page by page, with Zhang Lin and Little Five helping to hold down the pages to prevent them from springing back.
After a full twenty minutes, Yang Ping finished a rough review and said, "Tong Yongqianās motherās diseased X chromosome has been confirmed not to come from her grandfather. This is supported by genetic chromosome comparison. But I ask you, can this prove that Tong Yongqianās motherās X chromosome indeed came from her grandmother?"
How could Professor Yang ask such a silly question?
Little Five and Zhang Lin stared at Yang Ping. If it were someone else, they wouldnāt want to answer such a simple question, as it was as straightforward as asking, āDoes 1+1 equal 1?ā Is it true?
However, since Professor Yang posed the question, they had to reply.
"Of course, itās a non-A-or-B issue. Tong Yongqianās motherās genes have been verified as normal XX, with one chromosome from her grandfather and the other from her grandmother. No doubt, right?"
Little Five reasoned.
Yang Ping nodded, "Correct!"
"Then Iāll continue. Itās proven the diseased chromosome didnāt come from her grandfather. Since it didnāt come from him, it must have come from her grandmother. Are there other possibilities?" Little Five was confident his reasoning had no flaws.
Yang Ping put away the genetic testing report and said, "Let me ask you a questionāif an X-rays show a fracture, and the fracture is very evident with obvious separation at the fracture end, does that definitely mean the patient has a fracture?"
Little Five and Zhang Lin scratched their heads together, hesitating to answer.
No need to ask: if it shows a fracture, with separation at the fracture end, how can the patient not have a fracture? Surely there is a fracture, right?
"Go back and think carefully about the question I just asked, and come back to me once youāve figured it out."
"Itās a simple yet profoundly logical question!"
Yang Ping said.
