 A yawn escaped Isolde’s lips as she slowly opened her eyes, stretching before sitting upright as she woke from her sleep.
 The first thing that came into her sight was Sasha arguing with Eva. Which was somewhat strange, as she had never seen them argue this fervently.
 Out of curiosity, she decided to cut into their conversation.
 "What’s wrong?"
 At her voice, the two girls—Sasha and Eva—noticed Isolde. While Eva smiled back at her, Sasha rather had a frown carved deep across her face.
 "What happened?" Isolde asked, her gaze turning as she tried to find if something had gone wrong or if something was missing.
 And to her surprise... truly, something was missing.
 There was no sign of Oliver.
 "He’s gone," Sasha said, as though reading Isolde’s thoughts. "He left while we were sleeping, and Eva let him go."
 Isolde lingered for a moment before nodding slowly. "Then why are you both arguing?" she asked, her curiosity only deepening.
 At this, the two girls froze in hesitation.
 Eva stared at Sasha as if begging her not to say a word to Isolde.

 Sasha, however, had no real reason to keep quiet. Yet saying it out loud could shatter the fragile relationship between the three of them.
 Sasha sighed. "I was just telling Eva how we aren’t going to pay him the complete amount of Karma points."
 "Oh? Is that so?" Isolde let out a playful giggle.
 A wrinkled smile formed across Eva’s lips, masking the storm brewing within her.
 Her thoughts drifted back to Oliver’s request, and her fingers slowly folded into her palms in quiet disgust at herself.
 One of his requests had been to heal him.
 And the other... was far worse.
 A slave contract.
 With him.
 She curled into herself slightly as the weight of her decision pressed down on her chest.
 ’How would I ever tell the girls what I have done...? How I went behind their backs... and how I ended up becoming the slave of that madman?’
 To that question, Eva Montclair would come to realize the answer in the nearest, most dreadful future.

 Meanwhile, Oliver Mori moved steadily through the halls of the Dark Castle. In his hands rested Racell, while ahead of him, the Dark Crow flew silently as his scout, its wings cutting through the stale air without a sound.
𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮 After leaving the girls, fully healed. He had only encountered a few monsters. Creatures that, as he remembered, were nowhere near the level of the Void Knight or the giant, horrendous beasts he had faced before.
 As he ventured deeper into the chasms, his mind couldn’t help but wander back to what he had done to Eva Montclair—the supposed love of his life in the future.
 He had bound her in a slave contract.
 And worse...
 He had sown the seed of betrayal between the three girls.
 Would anyone believe him if he said it was all for her own good?
 Oliver chuckled softly.
 Dismissing both blades of Racell, he slid his hands into his warm pockets, his gaze drifting lazily from pillar to pillar—over torn, forgotten tapestries and endless, crumbling corridors.
 The life Eva Montclair lived now was not one she had earned.
 It had been given to her.
 Her two so-called sisters were nothing more than gifts, slaves bought by her father and handed to her as shields, as tools to ensure she would never fall. Hollows who could not expend life points even if killed.
 It was, in truth, as though they lived within a fabricated Realm of Gods.
 A lie.
 And now... Oliver could see through it.
 ’Now that I see it for myself... I finally understand,’ Oliver thought, recalling how Eva had once explained the attack by the Void Knight during their quest to clear the Dark Castle.
 A story.
 A convenient one.
 One that now felt like nothing more than a setup—a carefully orchestrated attempt to have her killed.
 Oliver didn’t know who wanted her dead.
 But recalling how she had been assassinated in the first timeline, how she had died in his arms. He was certain of one thing.
 This wasn’t new.
 This had been set in motion long ago.

 </div> ’It’s a good thing I still have two spare contracts... just in case,’ Oliver thought, a low chuckle escaping him as he turned into another corridor.
 The question remained—
 When would the two beast girls make their move?

 Or would he return after clearing the castle boss, only to find Eva lying in a pool of blood... with her "sisters" dead beside her?
 Or perhaps...
 The opposite.
 Oliver remained unconcerned.
 ’If she truly is the Eva Montclair I know... killing those two fools won’t be an issue.’
 The world of Awakeners was a brutal one.
 A place where trust was a weakness.
 Even slave contracts which were tools that could bend others to one’s will, were not absolute.
 Not against the right person.
 It was a world of destruction and death.
 And the sooner one accepted that truth...
 The longer one lived.
 Oliver’s thoughts came to a halt as he finally reached a set of massive double doors.
 Unlike the rest of the Dark Castle, these doors were pristine.
 Untouched.
 Almost unnatural.
 Not because they didn’t belong...
 But because they stood out too much.
 They were white.
 Blindingly so.
 A stark contrast to the suffocating black that consumed everything else within the castle.
 Without hesitation, Oliver approached and placed his hands against them.
 With a firm push, the doors creaked open, swinging wide to reveal the vast interior of a throne room.
 And seated upon the throne...
 Was the King of the Dark Castle.
 Oliver stepped inside.
 The moment he crossed the threshold—
 Thud!
 The doors slammed shut behind him, the sound echoing like a death sentence.
 Yet Oliver did not flinch.
 That alone seemed to amuse the King.
 The figure lounged lazily upon an obsidian throne, carved from a dark, glass-like gem that reflected faint, distorted light. A grin stretched across his lips, his head resting against his fist as his elbow leaned on the armrest.
 Oliver’s gaze lifted, locking onto the humanoid figure.

 The King sighed.
 Slowly, almost theatrically, he ran a hand through his white hair... before revealing his face.

 "So... of all the faces you could have chosen," he said, his voice low, "you picked mine."
 Seated upon the throne...
 Was a man who looked almost identical to Oliver Mori.
 And he—
