The Acolyte of Spirits and Curses
Chapter 13: Good night
Wearing only a pair of loose shorts and a simple t-shirt, Klein quietly walked downstairs.
As he reached the living room, he paused.
Cynthia was lying on the large couch, wearing only her bra and panties that beautifully contrasted against her dark skin.
She has discarded her clothes carelessly on the floor nearby.
The soft glow of the TV illuminated her figure.
One leg was bent lazily while the other leg stretched out along the couch.
Klein stopped a few steps away and Cynthia noticed him immediately.
She turned her head and a slow, seductive smile spread across her lips when she saw him standing there.
"Took you long enough,"
She shifted slightly on the couch, deliberately arching her back just a little, which made her chest push forward enticingly.
Klein exhaled slowly and walked over to her.
He stopped right beside the couch, looking down at her "You’re really pushing it tonight," he said quietly, though there was no real scolding in his tone.
Cynthia reached out and hooked her finger into the waistband of his shorts, gently pulling him closer until he was standing right against the edge of the couch.
With a shake of his head, he gently sat on the couch.
She moved forward and sat on the couch, leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Haa... it feels good to stay with you like this."
---
Meanwhile, on the rooftop of a neighboring building, a lone figure stood silently under the moonlight.
Arwen raised a white mask to her face, securing it over her nose and mouth.
The night wind fluttered her long black hair behind her as she looked down at their house.
"The rats have really followed us," she muttered under her breath in a cold voice.
She wasn’t surprised.
Klein has awakened a Mythic-rank class today.
News like that spread like wildfire in the Awakener underworld.
She knew that within hours, various forces would start moving.
Evil guilds looking for fresh talent to kidnap and brainwash, noble families wanting to recruit or marry him off, underground organizations hungry for rare abilities... and worse.
Without proper protection, Klein would become a walking target.
Arwen crouched at the edge of the rooftop, observing the area around their house.
She sensed them immediately.
Several men in dark clothing were circling the house silently, moving through the shadows with professional stealth.
Arwen’s hand moved toward the hilt of the dagger hidden at her waist.
But then her gaze narrowed.
From the opposite side of the street, more figures emerged from the dark.
In a matter of seconds, they neutralized the black-clothed intruders with ruthless efficiency.
Bodies dropped without a sound. Not a single gunshot or scream broke the quiet night.
Arwen’s frown deepened ’...Hoh. That Evelyne noble is not bad.’
’She sent people here to protect Klein,’
She stayed hidden on the rooftop for a few more minutes, watching as Evelyne’s men cleaned up the scene and vanished back into the shadows, leaving no trace behind.
Arwen relaxed her stance lightly ’At least she’s not an immediate threat.’
She looked down toward their house once more. Through the window, she could faintly see the warm light of the living room where Klein and Cynthia were.
A soft smile appeared behind her mask.
---
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Klein gently moved Cynthia off his lap and stood up.
He walked to the front door, still feeling the faint soreness in his muscles from earlier.
He opened the door to find the delivery guy standing there with two large paper bags filled with food.
"Thank you," Klein said, taking the bags and scanning the QR code on his phone to complete the payment and tip.
The delivery man gave a polite nod and turned to leave.
As he walked back toward his scooter, Klein stepped slightly outside and glanced around at the neighborhood.
The street was quiet under the soft glow of the streetlights.
Feeling the faint traces of mana lingering in the air, he frowned slightly ’Seems like Evelyne’s men are already here.’
He is the one who asked Evelyne for protection on his way back home.
At that moment, he heard a notification on his mobile.
He opened it and saw a message from Evelyne.
[Evelyne: I got everything covered up. No need to worry.]
He smiled and stepped back inside before closing the door and locking it behind him.
Cynthia had already moved to the kitchen island, setting out plates and utensils.
She looked over at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Everything okay?" she asked, noticing the brief frown on his face.
Klein placed the food bags on the counter and gave her a small nod.
"Yeah."
Cynthia looked at him for a moment but didn’t press.
Instead, she opened the bags, letting the delicious smell of warm food fill the kitchen.
"Arwen’s probably knocked out cold by now," she said with a soft chuckle. "She was really tired. Should we save some for her?"
Klein nodded as he helped unpack the containers "Yeah. She’ll be hungry when she wakes up."
They sat down at the small dining table together.
Cynthia pulled her chair right next to his chair until their thighs were touching.
Without saying anything, she picked up a spoon, scooped some creamy green curry with rice, and brought it gently to his mouth.
He opened his mouth and accepted the bite. Cynthia’s eyes lit up with quiet happiness as she watched him chew.
"Is it good?"
Klein nodded, "Yeah. It’s really good."
Encouraged, Cynthia continued feeding him patiently, occasionally taking bites for herself in between.
Klein glanced at her and his gaze softened in affection, though there was a quiet conflict in his heart.
’If I suddenly accepted her out of nowhere, she would definitely get suspicious...’
If he suddenly started treating her like a lover after holding back for so long, she would immediately sense something was different.
’So maybe I should act like usual for a while.’
’And well... I need to talk about it with Arwen too.’
He has always loved Cynthia but he doesn’t know how to approach their relationship since he already has Arwen.
But ever since he awakened his memories, it has given him some confidence.
He doesn’t want another woman to suffer because of him.
Cynthia noticed the distant look in his eyes and pinched his cheek "What are you thinking?"
With a shake of his head, he replied "Nothing much."
He gently took the spoon from her hand "My turn."
H-Huh? Cynthia was surprised but then a slow smile appeared on her lips and she leaned forward.
"Y-Yes, feed me."
Looking at the joy in her eyes, Klein’s gaze grew tender.
’She is just so adorable.’
