The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 377 - 378: Entering the Police Station
"Who are you?"
Sienna Johnson was genuinely worried that this man was from the group that had just attacked. If so, she and Leanne Andrews were in danger. ššššššš«š£šøš«š®š.ššš¶
The man was equally vigilant, his gaze pausing on the stone in Sienna Johnsonās hand before he said, "Madam, we were sent by Sixth Master to protect you."
The man before her had a short buzz cut and a modest height. He had brown eyes and his Chinese was a bit stiff. He didnāt seem to be a local.
Sienna Johnson spoke to him in the Amwan Language, "Are you from Abyanabad?"
"Yes, Madam!" The manās Amwan Language was much more fluent, but he remained a man of few words; if two words would suffice, he wouldnāt use three.
"Adrian Desmond didnāt mention you."
Sienna Johnson was suspicious of their identities.
"Sixth Master instructed us to protect you discreetly, Madam. We would only show ourselves if you were in danger. If it hadnāt started raining and you didnāt have an umbrella, we still wouldnāt have come out."
Sienna Johnson was pregnant and her constitution was weak. If she caught a cold from the rain, Adrian Desmond would not let them off easily.
"Madam, your umbrella!"
The man handed a black umbrella to Sienna Johnson. She accepted it with a word of thanks, then looked at the woman on the ground and asked, "This woman, can you take her to the hospital?"
The man shook his head. "Iām sorry, Madam. Our duty is solely to protect you. We will not interfere in other matters!" With that, he gave Sienna Johnson a slight bow and turned to leave.
Leanne Andrews couldnāt understand their conversation and asked curiously, "Sienna, whatās going on? Who is that man?"
"Bodyguards Adrian Desmond assigned to protect me," Sienna Johnson explained.
"Sixth Master is so thoughtful, even assigning bodyguards for you..." Leanne Andrews said enviously.
Sienna Johnson also hadnāt expected Adrian Desmond to secretly assign bodyguards to her.
Sienna Johnson couldnāt possibly give the umbrella to the woman on the ground and let herself get wet. She was pregnant; although her pregnancy was now stable, she dared not take risks. She moved closer to the woman, using the umbrella to shield her from some of the rain.
Knowing that Adrian Desmond had sent bodyguards to protect her in secret, Sienna Johnson felt considerably more at ease. At least she was safe for now.
ć ć
The Champagne Coast was located about 20 kilometers from the city center. By the time the ambulance arrived, the womanās face was deathly pale, utterly devoid of color, and she had already entered a state of shock.
Paramedics lifted the woman onto a stretcher and immediately began emergency treatment. Sienna Johnson looked at the womanās condition, unsure if she would survive.
After the ambulance arrived, a police car soon followed. A middle-aged police officer got out. He was balding, had very yellow teeth, and looked like an addict.
The manās gaze swept over Sienna Johnson and Leanne Andrews as he asked, "Are you the ones who called the police?"
"Yes."
"In that case, come with us to the Police Station."
"Alright."
As eyewitnesses, Sienna Johnson and Leanne Andrews were taken to the Police Station. Sienna Johnson, however, had a bad premonition, even though that police officer initially struck her as quite upright.
ćIn the interrogation room.ć
Sienna Johnson and Leanne Andrews were interrogated separately. Sienna Johnsonās mind was clear, and she enunciated clearly, recounting the entire sequence of events to the middle-aged police officer before her, but she held back from presenting the video footage for now.
The man took out a cigarette. Just as he was about to light it, Sienna Johnson interrupted him, "Excuse me, Iām pregnant. Could you please not smoke?"
"Alright." Although he didnāt light it, the man kept the cigarette in his mouth.
"Iāve already explained the course of events clearly. If thereās nothing else, may I leave now?"
The police officer scratched his head and said, "This matter is a bit thorny..."
Sienna Johnson asked, "Because of Master Leland?"
Sabrina Johnsonās backer was the Stewart Family, but they were currently struggling to protect themselves. Sienna didnāt think they still had enough influence to suppress the case. If it wasnāt the Stewart Family, then it had to be that man called Master Leland.
Sileria City, since when did a figure like Master Leland emerge?
The police officer placed both hands on the table, leaned towards Sienna Johnson, and lowered his voice to say, "...Youāve got real guts. Donāt you know how many of Master Lelandās informants are in the Police Station? The moment you walked in, Master Leland knew."
"What kind of background does Master Leland have?"
"Heās the big Boss! Even the Mayor of Sileria City doesnāt dare to provoke him!"
Sienna Johnson gave a cold laugh and asked, "Then this case can only be treated as an unsolvable one and closed?"
"Little girl, youāre still young; youāre thinking too naively about some things."
From the police officerās words, Sienna Johnson understood. Master Lelandās power was too great. Even if she submitted the evidence, this case would inevitably be dropped and left unresolved.
Sienna Johnson was merely curious. When on earth did that woman, Sabrina Johnson, manage to get involved with a figure like Master Leland? She had, after all, underestimated this person, Sabrina Johnson.
"Since thatās the case, Iāll be heading home."
"Where do you live? Let me see you off." The middle-aged police officer also rose, intending to walk her out.
"Thank you, my driver will come to pick me up."
Sienna Johnson walked out of the interrogation room but didnāt see Leanne Andrews. She asked the police officer beside her, "Officer Kent, excuse me, where is my friend who came with me?"
"She should be in another interrogation room. Please wait." Officer Kent asked Sienna to wait and went to find Leanne Andrews.
Taking this opportunity, Sienna Johnson called Adrian Desmond. Unexpectedly, he had already received news and told her he was on his way, asking her to wait for him at the entrance of the Police Station.
"Sienna!" Leanne Andrews saw Sienna Johnson and was somewhat agitated. Sienna Johnson looked Leanne Andrews up and down. Seeing that she hadnāt been subjected to interrogation by torture or anything of the sort, she felt relieved.
"Officer Kent, if thereās nothing else, my friend and I will take our leave."
Officer Kent scratched his bald head, a grin on his face as he said, "Miss Johnson, many troubles arise from a loose tongue. Being so young, you must really watch what you say..."
This was a veiled warning, telling her to keep her mouth shut.
It seemed this Officer Kent was one of Master Lelandās men.
"Goodbye, Officer Kent." Sienna Johnson smiled at Officer Kent, then took Leanne Andrewsās hand and walked out.
Behind her, Officer Kentās gaze felt somewhat scorching. Sienna Johnson endured it and didnāt look back.
Just as she stepped out of the Police Station entrance, a black car suddenly screeched to a halt in front of her. Sienna Johnson took half a step back; the car had nearly hit her.
Once the car steadied, a man got out. It was Adrian Desmond. Seeing Adrian Desmond, Sienna Johnsonās heart, which had been constantly in suspense, finally settled.
"Adrian."
She walked over and took his hand, only then realizing her own was somewhat cold. Adrian Desmond pursed his lips tightly, looked at Sienna Johnson, then his gaze flickered over her shoulder to Officer Kent standing at the Police Station entrance. He then said to Sienna Johnson,
"Get in the car!"
