The blind villain of the academy
Chapter 56: Find the murderer [1]
Chapter 55

Episode 12 - Find the murderer [1]
─────────────────────────────────
It was already morning. I got ready to go to class, took a shower, put on my uniform, and ran my fingers through my hair.
’I guess I’m handsome.’
It was a sudden thought, and although I couldn’t see myself, I didn’t know how handsome I actually looked in real life, though I did know that Adel was handsome.
But that was through a 3D character modeled in an anime style.
So, if we were talking about a "human," I would have to see him in real life.
Anyway, with Liora’s help, I made breakfast.
Liora raised her tiny hand, and I did the same.
Then we high-fived, although I think I should’ve just used my finger. Liora went flying through the air.
"Oops, sorry, Liora."
I quickly apologized, but she puffed out her cheeks. Smiling, I finished my breakfast shortly afterward.
’Even though Liora is helpful in the kitchen, she’s still clumsy, and cooking is still difficult for me. I should hire one of those assistants who take care of blind people.’
The thought crossed my mind, then my teacher said:
〖Don’t worry, disciple. I’ll have my physical body soon, so endure it until then. I’ll be able to help you with anything.〗
Of course, her physical body would literally be the size of my hand, just like Liora.
I let out a long sigh, then grabbed my things and left my room.
I walked through the campus and soon arrived at Classroom B-1.
After entering, I went directly to my seat.
Today would be the third day of searching for the murderer.
We only had two underground classrooms and the Labyrinth left.
’But I highly doubt we’ll find anything in the Labyrinth.’
It was a place far too large. Its structure changed every single day without fail.
And above all, it was possible to get lost.
’But if we’re talking about an escape, then it would be possible to escape through the Labyrinth.’
In theory, the Academy’s entrance to the Labyrinth was not the only entrance.
There should have been at least several entrances, but searching for them was quite a challenge or simply impossible.
Anyway, while I waited for the professor to arrive at the classroom, someone entered at that moment. She looked at her seat, but walked past it.
Then she looked in my direction and walked toward me.
Soon, she sat down on the other side of where I was sitting, left her things there, and said nothing, but kept staring at me.
’Is this some kind of boldness?’
I shrugged as I turned toward Charlotte.
I formed a smile and said:
"How strange, suddenly you’re sitting next to the blind guy with the Dark attribute."
I said it jokingly, but she did not even understand it and said:
"It’s only because we’re going to be together all day."
"..."
"Shouldn’t you choose your words more carefully? Anyone could misunderstand that."
Charlotte changed her expression to a thoughtful one, then nodded and said:
"We’re only going to work together all day."
"..."
This girl had been strange in her past life. Maybe she still has the same personality she had back then.
’Unlike me, she reincarnated; she didn’t transmigrate like I did.’
A reincarnator was born as a baby in a parallel fantasy world; a transmigrator stole a dead body or, in some cases, vessels of any age.
’Therefore, she knows more about this world than I do.’
She has information about the novel she used to read, since to her this world is a novel, while to me it is a game, and she is one of its characters.
Charlotte’s story and the creation of her character were literally inspired by the story of a novel.
’I don’t remember the name of the novel, but it was Korean.’
Anyway, focusing my attention on her, I tilted my head and said:
"It’s fine, the seats are free anyway."
She nodded.
"Good."
In the end, neither of us said anything during the following minutes.
Time passed quickly, and the first classes had ended.
And break time arrived.
I went to the cafeteria for a few sandwiches and then headed outside.
I walked toward the main building and looked for an empty bench.
Finally, I sat down, then started eating the sandwiches and drinking my coffee.
Soon, footsteps echoed near me. I slightly turned my head. Charlotte was walking in my direction while looking toward the main building.
She sat beside me without saying anything.
Minutes passed, and then a man came out of the main building.
Walking calmly, he headed toward the nearest building.
Charlotte stood up and began following him.
’It was necessary to go in pairs.’
The thought crossed my mind, but I stood up and followed Charlotte.
The man entered the building. Charlotte and I did as well. Inside, there was a receptionist.
The man named Marcus went behind the reception area. We followed him, and soon he entered an office.
Charlotte and I took seats near the office, waiting for the man to come out.
I used my senses to gather information from inside the office.
Marcus was talking with some woman. Her strength was only one star.
She seemed to be delivering some kind of report, and when she finished, the woman suddenly stood up, walked toward Marcus, and then Marcus grabbed her by the waist.
And the next scene made me stop using my senses.
’Well, I don’t know if having sex in broad daylight is a good idea, but... I’m not someone to judge.’ 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Snapping out of my thoughts, I turned toward Charlotte.
She didn’t seem to be listening to what was happening inside the office, and even though I suppressed my senses, I could still hear the sounds from inside far too clearly.
’Well, I don’t think he’s the killer.’
If he were, he really wouldn’t waste time having sex in broad daylight.
’No way.’
I know enough about villains, and they wouldn’t do something so foolish that it would draw too much attention.
’And those two aren’t aware of the surveillance throughout the entire Academy.’
With a sigh, I finally spoke:
"So, what do we do? I don’t think our target will come out anytime soon."
At my words, Charlotte seemed to realize something.
Then emotions of surprise and embarrassment appeared on her face.
She quickly said:
"Yes, we should leave."
The two of us left the building and returned to the bench where we had been sitting.
We only had one hour of break before we had to return to class.
As the minutes passed.
Neither of us said anything. The seconds felt longer and longer, and not even a single cadet passed through the area.
I noticed that most of the plaza was empty.
And just as the silence was becoming increasingly awkward, Charlotte suddenly asked.
"Who are you?"
***
Lumina and Veronica followed their target to several places.
In the end, there was nothing suspicious, however, Lumina did not care in the slightest.
’The killer is always different in every regression, and besides, Professor Harris’s investigation will continue in two years anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.’
Her attention was focused on Veronica.
Just like Adel, Veronica had appeared completely out of nowhere.
If you think about it carefully, perhaps ever since Adel appeared, it would be safe to assume that unknown people would start appearing in future regressions.
’I’m not sure if that’s the case, but...’
She only trusted Adel. He was the one who saved her in the end and prevented her death.
He completely changed her life and became someone important to Lumina.
Then, suddenly, Veronica appeared.
’Once again, the future is different.’
In any case, the two girls stopped in front of a skewer stand.
"Older Brother should like this. Maybe I should buy some for him."
Lumina listened silently before asking.
"Who are you calling older Brother?"
Veronica blinked a couple of times, as if the question were obvious, and then answered naturally.
"Adel, of course, he’ll be my older brother soon."
Lumina frowned slightly.
"Soon?"
"Yes, soon."
"That doesn’t explain anything."
"Well... it’s complicated."
"Explain it."
Veronica puffed her cheeks slightly.
"You’re very direct."
"Just answer."
"Alright, alright... but I can’t say everything right now."
Lumina stared at Veronica, clearly dissatisfied.
"Then what you’re saying makes no sense."
"Hey! It does make sense, you just don’t know it yet."
"Then there’s no point in saying it."
"How cruel..."
Lumina looked at Veronica in confusion, unable to understand her words.
’As far as I know, Adel doesn’t have any family, and he didn’t have any in the future either.’
As if realizing her mistake, Veronica changed her wording.
"I mean, I thought you would know, since you come from a great family, right?"
"..."
"I still don’t understand."
"Do you really not know, or are you just pretending?"
"There’s no point in pretending something like that."
"Mhm... then it really is more complicated than I thought."
"Then explain."
Veronica searched for the right words, looking away while crossing her arms.
"Ugh, just wait a little longer."
With that, she did not continue the topic.
Soon, both girls finished their skewers and started heading back to the classroom.
There was no further conversation, but Lumina kept thinking about the ridiculous discussion from earlier.
On the way, Veronica suddenly spoke, as if remembering something.
"Hey, I’ve noticed you look at my older brother a lot, could it be..."
Before she could say more, Lumina interrupted her.
"The target did not turn out to be a suspect. We can rule him out and continue the investigation in the underground area."
"..."
Veronica stared blankly at Lumina for a second and muttered,
"Well, my older brother might like you, but you’re really cold, you know?"
Lumina almost stumbled, but she did not look at Veronica and walked even faster.
"Hey, hey, why are you hurrying?"
"I’m not."
"Yes, you are."
"No."
"You’re running away."
"I’m not running away."
"Then look at me."
"..."
"See? You’re running away."
"I just want to keep moving."
"Sure, keep moving... away from the conversation."
"It’s unnecessary."
"For you."
"For both of us."
"That’s what you say."
Seeing this, Veronica scratched her cheek, unsure what to think about it.
Then she murmured while watching Lumina hurriedly walk away.
"Did I do something wrong?"
