Chapter 581: 580: You Killed Jorra, Not Me

"Merath!"

Akaza, who was still trying to stand, froze at Sonya’s scream.

When he saw that Simon’s neck was being held by Merath, his eyes widened and he cursed.

"Fuckin drop her!"

He was about to move, and so was Sonya, but they stopped when Merath tightened her grip around Simon’s neck.

"Take one more time or try to attack me, and I’ll fucking kill him in the blink of an eye."

Akaza and Sonya had ugly expressions, but they didn’t move for fear of Simon dying at her hands.

Merath then ignored both of them.

Her fingers tightened around Simon’s neck the more, to show Akaza and Sonya that she meant business and also because she wanted Simon to suffer.

Unfortunately for her, Simon did not even let out a single groan of pain despite the pain he was feeling.

Her blood-red eyes stared straight into Simon’s eyes with pure hatred.

"You..."

Her voice trembled, but not with fear, but with rage.

"You made me kill him."

Simon looked at her silently, his eyes still cold.

His gaze made Merath to tighten her grip.

She clenched her teeth.

"You made me kill Jorra."

The bloody aura around her became thicker, and the grass beneath her feet began to wither slightly.

"I should rip out your eyes. I should crush your head. I should tear your soul out and grind it into dust, then scatter it into a hell hole."

Simon still said nothing, and this made Merath’s expression to become even more twisted.

"Say something!" She shouted.

However, Simon kept on looking at her with the same cold ans indifferent gaze.

But a few seconds later, his eyes flashed with a black light.

A thin black spear formed in his sea of consciousness.

A Mind Spear.

The spear shout out from Simon’s eyes and pierced into Merath’s mind.

Merath’s pupils constricted violently.

"ARGH!"

She released Simon immediately and staggered backward while grabbing her head.

Bam

Simon fell to the ground.

The fall caused pain to explode throughout his body once again, and blood flowed from the corner of his lips. But despite the pain, his gaze remained fixed on Merath.

Merath staggered several steps backward with a pale face. Her breathing was rough and uneven, and her gaze was not as focused as before.

Veins could be seen on her forehead, and she gritted her teeth in pain and anger.

The Mind Spear had not crippled her mind or does excessive damage to it because she was subconsciously wary of Simon using mental techniques, but Simon’s mental energy was too powerful, deadly, and strange.

Even though she was guarding her mind against it, it was not enough.

And why would it?

Her experience and mental fortitude was nothing compared to Simon’s.

The Mind Spear was like a sharp nail that had been driven into her Sea of Consciousness.

Simon slowly opened his mouth.

His voice was cracked, but it was cold.

"Do you think... I’m helpless because I can’t move?"

Merath looked at him with bloodshot eyes. She was trying to alleviate the pain in her mind and completely purge Simon’s mental energy from her mind before it taints her Sea of Consciousness.

Simon continued talking.

"I can’t move my arms. I can’t move my legs. My body is broken. My demonic pathways are almost useless."

He paused briefly, then his eyes became even colder.

"But I can still cripple your mind. You saw what I did to Sunless. Trust me, I can do much worse to you... You’re weaker after all."

Merath’s expression became ugly.

Unfortunately for her, she had no idea that Simon could not use the Eternal Mind Maze on her because he was only able to create one maze.

And she also had no idea that the quantity of Simon’s mental energy was less than half, so he had to be careful with how he used it.

Just as Simon and Merath were staring at one another, Sonya quickly moved and stood in front of Simon.

Akaza also forced himself to his feet and stood beside Sonya while wiping the blood from his lips.

Simon looked at Merath from between them.

"By the way, I don’t know why you want to kill me. You have no proof that I was the reason behind Jorra’s death."

"Tell me. Can I kill anybody in this state? I can barely move."

Merath’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"What?"

Simon stared at her indifferently.

"You held him."

Merath’s breathing became heavier.

"You used him as a shield."

Her bloody aura surged.

"You killed him with your own hands."

"SHUT UP!"

The ground beneath Merath cracked as her aura erupted like a volcano.

Sonya frowned deeply, and the earth around her feet began to rise.

Akaza’s fists clenched, his tattoos glowed faintly, and space began to warp around his fists as they suddenly felt extremely heavy.

Simon calmly looked at Merath.

"You wanted to kill me. You thought you were using me as a shield. You smiled when you thought I was going to die."

Merath’s lips trembled slightly.

"But the one you held was Jorra."

Simon paused, then his lips curled up slightly into a mocking smile.

"So tell me, Merath. Who killed him?"

Merath stared at Simon, and her entire body trembled.

From an outsider’s point of view, Simon was telling the truth.

Even her brain told her that Simon’s words made perfect sense.

If anybody saw the current state of Simon’s body and they also performed an autopsy of Jorra’s corpse, they would not see a single sign of Simon’s aura, demonic energy, mental energy, or even finger print on Jorra’s corpse.

So, how exactly was it Simon that killed Jorra?

The moment these thoughts appeared in Merath’s mind, she unconsciously took a step back and vehemently shook her head.

She knew that if she went back to the abyss, Simon would not be the one in trouble, she would.

However, even if every word Simon said was technically true, she knew he was the reason behind Jorra’s death.

He has used an illusion.

He had twisted her senses.

He had made her see Simon instead of Jorra.

He had made her kill Jorra.

But the worst part was that she could not even prove it.

And Simon knew that.
