The Curse of Malysora
Chapter 12: The Confrontation
Jin was brushing the dust off his shoulder amid the wreckage of the cars, looking left and right for his opponent.
He muttered to himself
Where did that bastard disappear to?
He was right in front of me a moment ago.
Just a moment ago! Suddenly... The blood ran cold in his veins; a cold breath brushed his neck right behind his ear,
while the smell of his breath reeked of sour milk.
Devi whispered, sweat dripping from him:
“Impossible... how long has he been behind me?!” He tried to turn around.
Jin didn’t give him a chance to turn; he grabbed his hand so hard the veins stood out.
Then he drove his left wrist into Devi’s ribs.
The sound of breaking bones was clear, and he was sent flying several meters, crashing into dented metal trash cans.
The contents of the metal bins scattered in every direction; torn animal skins, soiled diapers, and condoms strewn among the rotting garbage.
Devi coughed up blood as he whispered in pain:
“Damn it!”
Jin didn’t let him catch his breath, but attacked him violently; he enveloped his fist in a dark green aura and launched a direct strike beneath Devi’s jaw,
sending his teeth scattering beneath him.
The blow sent him flying high into the sky like a feather, and Jin leaped after him with astonishing speed, leaving a crack in the ground behind him from the sheer force of the impact.
He grabbed Davey’s feet and began spinning him like a tornado, then hurled him with tremendous force toward the roof of a building.
Devi’s body pierced through one roof after another, shattering the columns and concrete until he came to rest in a deep pit.
Devi felt a sickening wetness beneath him
as a sharp odor, like that of a sheep slaughterhouse, filled the air.
He stood in front of the pit, then advanced toward him with eyes completely devoid of life. He grabbed him by the neck with one hand, lifted him off the ground, and said in a hollow voice:
“Don’t mock me... Is that all you’ve got? We’re still just warming up.”
The corners of Devi’s mouth curled into a sneering smile, then he spat in his face. In a swift motion, he delivered a violent kick to Jin’s groin, forcing him to loosen his grip immediately.
Devi didn’t give him a chance.
He spun his body quickly, then unleashed an elbow strike shrouded in a yellow aura straight at Jin’s face.
A massive shockwave exploded, shaking the floor beneath their feet, and blood spurted from Jin’s mouth, mixed with his saliva.
His body flew violently...
But Devi vanished from where he stood and appeared in front of him in midair, as if he had moved through the void itself, then delivered a crushing punch to his chest.
The first wall shattered.
Then the second.
Then the third.
Jin’s body was smashing through the buildings one after another, while concrete and glass scattered behind him.
Devi landed on his feet, yellow sparks flashing in his eyes. The wind whipped his clothes, and faint electric threads wrapped around his fists, emitting a terrifying crackling sound.
On the other side...
Jin pushed aside a giant boulder that was crushing him from above, then shattered another with his bare fist.
He rose slowly.
Blood was flowing from his head, his eyes, and his mouth. His black hair was matted with dirt and blood, making him look like a beast emerging from the rubble.
He looked up at Davey and said in a broken voice:
“I underestimated your toughness... You’re really strong.”
Devi approached with quiet steps, then muttered clearly:
“You... haven’t seen anything yet.”
Jin slowly raised his fists, while Devi clenched his hands until his veins bulged menacingly.
And in a single second...
The laws of physics vanished.
Devi vanished from his spot, leaving a turbulent void in the air.
Jin’s eyes darted frantically in their sockets, searching through the darkness for that swift phantom.
And suddenly
The air split before his face.
Devi’s fist shot out with terrifying speed, as if it had pierced the air itself.
Jin’s eyes widened, and he shifted his head by just a few millimeters, dodging the punch that tore through the air behind him and sent a sharp explosion rippling through the floor.
But Devi didn’t stop.
He spun his entire body around, then unleashed a lightning-fast back kick.
In that moment, confusion completely overwhelmed Gene’s mind.
His thoughts froze.
He realized too late that his opponent’s speed had surpassed the limits of his perception, and that his own thoughts had become too slow to save him.
Then...
The kick struck his chest like a thunderbolt.
His entire body shook, and blood and saliva spurted from his mouth into the air, before he was hurled violently backward.
The concrete wall behind him shattered as if it were made of paper, and his body pierced through the debris to land in the darkness...
Amid a
terrifying silence.
Devi’s hysterical laughter rang out as he slowly wiped the blood from his face.
“Ugh...”
“Tell me now... did you like that?”
