Village Chief Xu mulled it over for a moment and decided his wife had a point.

He took a few hard puffs from his pipe, then tapped it against the table, knocking the ash onto the floor.

At his side, Chen Xiumin immediately exploded.

"You old coot! How many times have I told you? Knock the ash somewhere else! You always tap it onto the floor. Who do you think is going to clean that up!"

Hearing this, Village Chief Xu’s old face twitched.

Yun Hao had just woken up. Hu Ziqiang had just given him some water.

The whole thing was strange.

When Yun Hao had fainted, Hu Ziqiang had called Doctor Liu over. But after an examination, Doctor Liu couldn’t find anything wrong. He sat there silently for a long while before saying they should wait and see. If Yun Hao didn’t wake up by nightfall, they should take him to a major hospital the next day.

Thankfully, Yun Hao had woken up.

Hu Ziqiang could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

But the awakened Yun Hao was acting very strangely. His face was pale, and he sat there in silence, not saying a word.

Hu Ziqiang thought about what had happened during the day. He knew something had occurred between Xu Wenwan and Yun Hao, but he was an outsider in the matter and couldn’t really say much.

Hu Ziqiang was already curious about what had happened between Xu Wenwan and Yun Hao. Now, seeing Village Chief Xu arrive, he felt instinctively nervous.

"Where’s Yun Hao?"

Village Chief Xu cleared his throat.

"Could you all step out for a moment? I need to have a word with Yun Hao."

After saying this, his expression soured even more.

’After all, I’m the girl’s father. The man’s side is supposed to be the one to propose. Having to bring this up with Yun Hao myself... it just feels wrong.’

The others exchanged glances before filing out.

Seeing the village chief’s grim expression, Hu Ziqiang thought he was here to chew Yun Hao out and couldn’t help but try to explain.

Hu Ziqiang’s words trailed off, but Village Chief Xu understood. The boy was afraid he was here to cause trouble for Yun Hao.

His expression grew even colder at the thought.

"Don’t worry," he said. "I’m not here to give him a hard time."
