The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 433 - 284: Seeing Mother Divination Again, How About Submitting to the Senior?
The scene before him was strangely familiar: a vast river, its waters surging with tumultuous power.
Standing on the bank, he couldn’t see where it ended; the river seemed to stretch all the way to the horizon. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
The trees on both banks grew thick and lush, while in the distance, colossal peaks stood tall, as if connecting with the very heavens.
This was not the She Long Crossing that Yang An had once visited; the current here was even more rapid.
Enough time had passed that Yang An had long forgotten what the Xiyue River looked like, yet he was certain this was it.
For he could sense it. A kilometer away, hidden beneath a placid patch of water, was an array designed to fool the senses. And within that array lay a solitary island.
At his current Cultivation Level, the array had no effect on him whatsoever. The island was as conspicuous as a lantern in the dead of night.
That was the sanctum of Mother Divination True Master, called Golden Egg Jade Island.
Merely two breaths after he appeared, several figures flew out from Golden Egg Jade Island one after another, approaching him.
He looked at the leader, a graceful and charming beauty. She wore a long, light-gray robe embroidered with gold thread that perfectly accentuated her exquisite figure.
Of course, that was assuming one didn’t look at her lower body—a wide skirt formed from countless interwoven fleshy tumors. Still, it did nothing to detract from her beautiful face.
’An old acquaintance.’ It was Mother Divination True Master, her captivating aura utterly unchanged.
The only difference was that compared to the last time he had seen Mother Divination True Master, her Cultivation Level had now reached the Late Stage of Corpse Transformation, not far from the Zombie God realm.
Yang An could sense that the Glue Insect Children on Golden Egg Jade Island had grown more numerous. They hid in every corner of the island, even beneath the soil, like a dense swarm of termites that had already formed a massive nest.
This was all Mother Divination True Master’s handiwork, and Yang An could guess why her Cultivation Level had advanced so quickly.
Speaking of Mother Divination True Master, Yang An held a slight fondness for her. After all, back before he had his Visceral Stone, he had drunk a great deal of her Yolk Tea to prolong his life.
’As the saying goes, whoever gives you milk is your mother.’ At the very least, Mother Divination had never harmed him, though that was likely due to the respect she had for that old fellow, Life Crane.
So, Yang An didn’t rush to the riverbed. He saw Mother Divination True Master approaching and waited a moment.
Soon, Mother Divination True Master arrived with several Children of respectable Cultivation Levels. Hovering above the river’s surface, she gave Yang An a slight bow.
"This servant is a Cultivator of the Xiyue River, by the Daoist name of Mother Divination. I was unaware of Elder’s arrival and have been remiss in my welcome. I pray you forgive me."
Yang An wore the Light Wheel He Tou mask, so Mother Divination naturally couldn’t discern his features. When a Great Power at the Zombie God level suddenly appeared on the Xiyue River with unknown intentions, she naturally had to come and investigate.
"True Master, it’s been a while. Have you been well?"
Yang An had no intention of hiding his identity, nor did he plan to waste any time.
Hearing Yang An’s words, Mother Divination lifted her beautiful face, momentarily taken aback.
’That voice... It sounds familiar.’
A Cultivator’s memory, so long as it wasn’t affected by the price of some technique, was generally quite excellent.
In the next instant, Mother Divination recalled who the voice belonged to. Her gaze fell upon Yang An, her eyes filled with unconcealable astonishment.
’It was the disciple Elder Life Crane accepted on her Golden Egg Jade Island!’
’How could he have grown so powerful, so quickly?’
"Yang... Elder! What brings you here, Elder? Does Elder Life Crane have some instructions? Or is there something this servant can help you with?"
A look of delight appeared on Mother Divination’s face, whether genuine or not. She had subconsciously been about to say Yang An’s name but was quick enough to correct herself.
The Yang An of today was no longer that young disciple with a meager Cultivation Level. Standing before her was a Great Power at the Zombie God level, and she had to maintain a sufficiently humble posture.
"You’re too kind, True Master. I have come here on business, but I’m afraid I cannot discuss the details with you. I only hope you can do me the favor of making sure no one disturbs me."
Yang An had no intention of explaining that he had already killed Life Crane. There was no need for deep conversations with a casual acquaintance like Mother Divination True Master. A simple warning would suffice. After all, this was ultimately her territory.
Hearing Yang An’s words, Mother Divination’s beautiful eyes glanced down at the river’s surface, and she immediately understood why he was here. She nodded at once.
"Rest assured, Elder. This servant will certainly not allow anyone to disturb you."
"Then I thank you in advance, True Master."
Yang An gave a deep bow and, without another word, swiftly dropped into the river.
She watched Yang An’s bald head, which seemed to glint in the river like a prism as he descended, shrinking until it became a mere speck of light. That, however, was not the important part. Mother Divination’s biggest question was what, exactly, Yang An intended to do.
Deciding not to dwell on it for now, she waited quietly for a while. A smile suddenly appeared on Mother Divination’s face, and she dismissed the few Children behind her.
"You all may return for now. I will remain here alone. Do not allow anyone to disturb the Elder."
These Children were completely obedient to her, never defying her orders, and they left at once.
Soon, Mother Divination True Master descended onto the surface of the river. Her jade-like feet, peeking from beneath her skirt of flesh, lightly touched the water. The once-turbulent current instantly grew calm, with ripples spreading out in concentric circles.
She prepared to wait there for as long as it took for Yang An to emerge.
