The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2236 - 2235: Harvest
"You want to die? Not that easy."
Ling Feng let out a cold snort, struck like lightning, and stopped him before the Dagger in his hand could reach his chest.
The man froze on the spot. Ling Feng reached out, took his Dagger and looked it over, then said, "With this thing, even if you stab straight into your own heart you can forget about dying. I can still drag you back!"
But right after he spoke, the guy didn’t react at all! 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Ling Feng tossed the Dagger aside and took a closer look at the man, only to realize his face had already turned ashen, blood seeping from all seven orifices!
Dead!
"Fuck!"
Ling Feng couldn’t help cursing. So pulling out the Dagger had just been a diversion; his real goal was to cover up taking poison!
He must’ve used the same poison that killed the guy with glasses—cyanide.
Watching the man topple to the ground, Ling Feng was speechless for a moment.
Li Fei’er walked over just then. "Uncle, don’t blame yourself. At least we got a name out of him. That’s still something."
"Yeah. I’ll have Ah Min check that name later. Maybe we’ll get a lucky break."
Ling Feng said, then pulled out a Five Elements Fruit and tossed it onto the corpse. A burst of fierce flame instantly Devouring the body.
After cleaning up, the two of them rode the Ghost Dragon back to the city.
The earlier investigation hadn’t turned up much, so getting a name this time counted as a pretty big breakthrough.
So once they were back, Ling Feng reported everything to Chen Zhong, and he immediately had people start looking into that name.
As for the others, the ones who’d been eating at the food stall together had all been rounded up and were currently under interrogation.
The police quickly dug a lot of useful information out of them—not just the doctrine they’d been taught, but also the source of the drugs and so on.
This case was a big one, so Chen Zhong was in a very good mood. He said to Ling Feng, "Mr. Ling, you’ve helped us out in a huge way again this time. I really don’t know how to thank you."
"Don’t say that. We’re all after the same thing."
Ling Feng smiled, then went on, "It’s getting late. We won’t get in the way of your work. We’ll head back first."
Chen Zhong nodded. "Alright. If we find anything, I’ll let you know right away."
Ling Feng and Li Fei’er left the police bureau. It was already past one in the morning. As they were walking down the street, Li Fei’er said, "Uncle, it’s so late already, why don’t we not go back?"
"Not go back? Then where are we going?" Ling Feng asked.
"A hotel, of course. Way more comfortable than that tiny room." Li Fei’er said.
Ling Feng couldn’t help laughing, his tone full of indulgence. "Alright, we’ll do it your way."
"It’s not that I can’t handle hardship, I just think there’s absolutely no need for you to put yourself through that." Li Fei’er said seriously.
"Need it or not, all our leads came through that rental room. If we don’t stay there, are we supposed to just wander the streets asking random strangers questions?" Ling Feng said with a grin.
Li Fei’er thought about it and realized he had a point, then nodded. "True. Everything we dug up today is connected, and it all started with you renting that place."
"Exactly. Which is why I’d say I was pretty wise this time." Ling Feng laughed.
The two of them joked as they rode along the street. After a short distance, they spotted a hotel up ahead. Judging from the exterior it looked fairly high-end, so Ling Feng drove the electric scooter straight into the parking lot.
There was a security guard on duty even this late. Seeing a handsome guy with a cute little beauty on the back, both of them arriving on a food-delivery scooter, the guard was a bit stunned.
He stared, dumbfounded, as the two of them walked into the lobby, then scratched his head. "What the hell... some kind of performance art?"
Ling Feng’s identity might be fake, but his documents were the real deal, so he easily booked a suite and took Li Fei’er upstairs.
As soon as they went in, the little girl ran straight to the window. Looking out at the view, she said, "The view here is great. Way better than your rental place!"
"How about this then: my mission’s not over yet, so we’ll just keep this room. You stay here, and I’ll go back to the rental." Ling Feng said.
"No way."
Li Fei’er immediately shook her head when she heard that, then said, "Even if I don’t like it, I’m still staying with you. Otherwise you’ll just go meet some pretty girl again."
"Uh..."
Ling Feng was speechless. Looking at the playful smile on her face, he chuckled. "Where would I find the energy to mess with other women? You’ve already drained me dry these past two days, okay?"
He said it so bluntly that Li Fei’er’s face flushed red. She shot him a glare. "So cheesy. I’m taking a shower."
She said that, then hurried toward the bathroom. At the door, she couldn’t help glancing back at Ling Feng. "Uncle, get ready. I’m going to drain you again later."
Ling Feng: "..."
...
...
The next morning, Ling Feng was still asleep in Li Fei’er’s arms when the ringing of his phone woke him up.
Half-awake, he picked up, and heard Chen Han’s voice on the other end. "Bro, you didn’t come back last night?"
"Yeah, I was out too late and didn’t want to wake you guys, so I crashed at a hotel." Ling Feng said.
Chen Han sounded a bit exasperated. "You’re something else, man. First day on the job and you’re already out blowing money."
Ling Feng chuckled to himself, thinking this guy was actually pretty thoughtful.
So he laughed and said, "Thanks for worrying about me, Chen."
"As long as you’re fine. Go back to sleep, I’m heading to work."
Chen Han said, then added a reminder, "Oh right, Hu Jian was admitted to the hospital last night. If you’ve got time today, go visit him. You guys are still friends."
"Huh?"
Ling Feng froze. "He was fine when I left last night. How’d he suddenly end up in the hospital?"
"Sigh, long story. He had a fight with He Xue and drank too much. Ended up in the emergency room. The rest of us didn’t get home until dawn." Chen Han said helplessly.
Ling Feng was speechless as well. He asked which hospital it was, then hung up.
Li Fei’er had woken up too and had heard the whole call, so she blinked her big eyes and said, "Uncle, aren’t Hu Jian and He Xue really close? How’d they end up fighting?"
"Who knows. I don’t get young people anymore."
Ling Feng gave a wry smile, then said, "But they’re both good people. Let’s pick up some fruit and go see him later."
"Yeah, okay. I like He Xue too." Li Fei’er nodded.
The sun was already high in the sky. The two of them got up, washed, and tidied themselves up before leaving the hotel, then rode over to the City People’s Hospital.
They bought a fruit basket outside. Ling Feng carried it in one hand and held Li Fei’er’s hand with the other as they headed to the inpatient ward.
After asking around, they found out which room Hu Jian was in and went upstairs. Soon they saw someone squatting at the door of the ward—it was He Xue.
Seeing her red eyes and exhausted face, Li Fei’er hurried over. "Sister Xue, what happened to you?"
