The Incubus System Chapter 867. Tossed Around

Following the agreement, I took Jill to Mrs. Clea's house. Jill remained blissfully oblivious. I gave her my final hug as a goodbye and left.

The night was getting late. Yet I didn't hunt like usual. I decided to go straight to sleep. Instead, Foxy's words lingered.

How much of Puriel's angelic might did they retain?

But on the other hand, wasn't that what I needed to unlock my power? So how did I know if too much is too much?

Tossing around side to side and taking variety sleeping positions, an hour stretched like an eternity. And as my eyes finally succumbed to the heavy embrace of slumber, a peculiar sensation enveloped me.

Instead of the familiar descent into the realm of Puriel's dream spell, it felt as if my very essence was caught in the gravitational pull of opposing forces.

My consciousness became a tethered ball, a plaything tossed haphazardly between the unseen hands of contrasting energies. It was an unsettling experience.

'Let me talk to him, let me talk to him,' the male voice said.

'Who are you?! Let him go!' I knew that voice. It was Puriel's voice, she sounded annoyed.

'I want to talk to him,' the male voice said again.

Wait... that sounded like the colossal eye.

'Get lost!' Puriel shouted in anger.

The air crackled with an otherworldly tension. A scream echoed through the metaphysical corridors of Puriel's dream spell.

In the blink of an eye, my senses surged to life, and I found myself immersed in the familiar ethereal landscape.

Puriel stood beside me, her breaths heavy. In the midst of the dream spell, I rose. "Do you know him?" I queried.

"I thought you knew him," she retorted.

"So, you don't know who he is, but you're still fighting over me with him?"

Her response was a subtle nod. "I thought he was your friend," she admitted.

"Where does that conclusion come from?" I queried.

Puriel met my gaze with a knowing look. "He used the same dream spell as me, but weaker. So he means no harm, but just wants to talk to you," she elucidated.

"He means no harm?" I echoed.

Then... Why did it help Beel?

The mystery deepened.

"Yeah, this is just a dream, remember? We can't hurt each other here," Puriel reassured me.

"I remember that," I replied with a nonchalant huff.

However, a fleeting realization tugged at the edges of my consciousness.

'Oh wait... that means I can't test her strength if she attacks me,' I mused internally.

I leaned back, a wry grin playing on my lips. 'I wonder if I'll turn into dust like the devil in holy water once I get that vaccine,' I thought.

Puriel shot me a curious look.

"Can I ask you something?" I threw at her.

Her brow furrowed as she answered, "What?"

My eyes met hers as I ventured into uncharted territory. "Based on your prediction, how far can I withstand your power? I mean, absorb," I inquired, seeking her estimation.
