Chapter 2228: Hidden surprises

In the first twenty days, Lex had singlehanded found more guests and workers than all of the rest of the Inn combined, including Anita’s countless undead. It wasn’t because the others were slacking off, but because of how unusual his methods were.

During this time, the legend of the devil had taken on a life of its own, and for more reason than one. Lex had severely underestimated the effects of his actions against Chicken Wings. Publicly fighting a Celestial Apex, while being a Heaven Immortal himself, attracted a whole lot of attention on its own. In fact, that is how Lex also learned that the unofficial ranking of Celestial Apex ranked themselves was not based on their individual strength, or fighting record, but based on the bounty on their heads.

Basically, 99% of all Celestial Apex had bounties on their heads for various reasons. When one lived for millions and millions of years, it was almost inevitable that they would gain a bounty. The problem was, unless a Demi-Dao Lord went out to collect the bounty, or other Celestial Apex showed up, there was basically no one who could hunt them down, thus making the bounty just a way to show off.

Well, the Red Moon Devil, despite not actually being a Celestial, joined the ranks of Celestial Apex in the sense that his bounty had been included in their list - mainly because the bounty had been offered by Chicken Wings.

Speaking of, that was the second reason the Devil was attracting so much attention. Naming the Havi Chicken Wings was quite embarrassing, and was surely to be a sore point for her throughout her life. But that was it - it would have no actual, measurable impact on her. Or at least that’s what was supposed to happen.

In truth, Lex was quite vindictive, and he was practicing the art of tormenting his enemies subtly and secretly, which was why although it appeared that he had run away from the fight pretty quickly, he had actually left behind quite a few surprises.

To start with, when he had uttered the name Chicken Wings, he had done so using Supremacy, the Lawcraft Lex had self designed to enact his words. Mixed with Domination, the mere declaration of the name Chicken Wings had left behind a minor imprint on the laws of the Dream realm.

Ordinarily, that imprint would fade quickly, but owing to the fact that many kept using the name after the fact, the imprint slowly became strengthened instead. Thus, Lex had inadvertently actually affected Chicken Wings True Name! While this was not an unsolvable problem, especially for the Havi race which specialised in the use of True Names, it was certainly not something that could be fixed without cost. Moreover, the deeper the name became ingrained in the laws of the Dream realm, the weaker Chicken Wings would become!

This was not something that could be casually replicated, especially now that the Havi race was aware that the Devil could do such a thing. They could protect their True Names, for they weren’t something that could be so easily influenced anyway.

As if that wasn’t enough, the gash in Chicken Wings chest contained the influence of three different Ruling Laws. Although Lex’s command over them was indirect, and thus weak, it was still not something that could be dismissed. Unless something unexpected happened, it would take one hundred years to eliminate the influence of each law, meaning that for the next three hundred years the gash would continue to harm her.

That was convenient, because hidden behind the pain, and easily detectable influence of that gash, Lex had also left behind a hidden, weak karmic plague. The reason it was weak was because if it was strong, it would be easy to detect. However, the weak state also made the plague easy to remove if detected early. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

However, if Chicken Wings failed to detect the plague, then it would slowly fester and grow each time she cursed him, or acted against him, nurturing the negative karma until it was ready to explode, or until Lex triggered it.

Speaking of plague, Lex had already learned that normal cultivators, no matter how strong, could not normally absorb Dao materials, or even safely interact with them. They were the cultivator equivalent of radioactive material. The Amber Chaos resin was one of the few exceptions to this rule. Thus, he had designed an especially potent poison using his own blood!

Ordinarily, Lex’s blood had very powerful healing qualities, but in this case that was the perfect disguise. By using microscopic amounts of blood, Lex could inject a minute amount of Dao material into his enemies body! In this case, considering his 25% Dao Body, the Dao material was his own blood!

As long as the healing quality of his blood wasn’t exhausted, no one would notice the negative impact of the Dao material. By the time the healing quality of the blood was exhausted, the Dao material would have stayed in their body long enough to be absorbed, and would thus act as a poison with a delayed effect! When that effect was finally revealed, it would cause an incalculable amount of damage to the opponent’s body, mind and soul!

Oh right, there was also the fact that as the legend of the Red Moon Devil spread, it would cause a feedback in terms of Divine energy to the Tyrant’s Mask, making it even stronger.

All of this was just the consequence of Lex still holding back. If he truly used all his abilities, then he’d be able to leave behind even more hidden surprises for his enemies. The more he got accustomed to his identity as an all-power Immortal, the more absurd ideas he had, which he then realized could actually be implemented via manipulation of laws.

It was to the point where Lex realized the only thing limiting what he could do was the intensity and complexity of the law manipulation required. If that was the case, he could literally impose his will upon the universe, and begin to properly give shape and form to his tenet of Supremacy.
