The moment she saw Mei Ruyan in this state, Bai Shishi’s strong-woman facade dissipated, and worry filled her eyes.

"Don’t you trust my medical skills? It’s really just exhaustion, she needs to rest. I just wanted Wu Yong to update you, didn’t expect you’d come over."

Bai Shishi touched Mei Ruyan’s forehead and checked her complexion before feeling a bit relieved. "Let’s move her to the bed so she doesn’t catch a cold here."

Bai Shishi was visibly startled by his move, as no one had ever held her hand so willingly.

Lin Tian rubbed her hand and said, "Listen to you! If I were to elope, I would definitely take you along; your dad agreed to marry you to me, after all."

Bai Shishi, already flushed from drinking, blushed even more, making her face look like a ripe peach. Seeing this made Lin Tian’s mouth dry, and he just wanted to pull her onto the sofa and kiss her hard.

Hearing about Mei Ruyan’s background, Bai Shishi was moved. She had never heard Mei Ruyan talk about her past before, nor asked about it. Now that she knew, she found it similar to her own experience. Genuinely empathetic.
