 "You don’t have to do this," Ava said.
 "Do what?"
 "Giving me a bath Matthew. I can do it myself." She turned her head away as water cascaded down her body. Matthew insisted they use the tub but she prefers the shower. It was quick and easy.
 But Matthew had other things in mind. She tried her best not to look at his naked body just as a cool breeze from out of nowhere skimmed her skin. Her nipples pebbled. She shivered.
 Despite her three year relationship with her ex, she never bathed with him. Or let him give her a bath before sex, during sex or after sex.
 She found it weird. Washing other people’s bodies is definitely weird.

 She didn’t mean her words that way though.
 "So... how does it really work?" Ava immediately tried to get her mind off his large naked body which was hovering just a few inches away from her.
 "Marking someone?"
 She nodded. She had spent the past few days reading books about it and she had some sort of idea about it. But hearing it from a Lycan would be different.

 It was still five in the afternoon yet the darkness had already started to swallow Anchorage.
 "So Romeo Mclary lost his wife three years ago." Ava stated. She was sitting next to Matthew, holding a tablet with the information that they had so far. "It’s believed that... he was the same person who attacked me when I visited Amelia’s cabin?"
 Staring at the man’s picture, Ava tried to place the man in her memory. It wasn’t long before it clicked and she realized something.
 This man... was the same man who delivered her pizza, when the fake Phil was at her house. The possibility that he was related to whoever it was that’s imitating her brother just increased. She frowned at the information about the man’s past.
 He had a degree in chemistry. He even pursued his masters and got his PhD before he turned thirty. He stayed away from his mother’s business and wasn’t involved in any witchcraft. It has also been confirmed that he wasn’t interested in anything wiccan.
 However, this all changed when his wife died.
 Without kids, Romeo went back home to his mother to try and build a new life. Then the killings started.
 "And her mother has been hiding all of his crimes... we believe she is involved in other covens too. This is why we hadn’t seen any traces of his deeds... Until a year ago."
 She could feel his eyes on her.
 "Do you think he took Amelia too?" Ava asked. Just like her when she was captured, Amelia was inside an iron cage. What are the odds that it was actually the same person who kidnapped them?
 "We didn’t find any traces of Amelia... and again you already mentioned it. The MO is different. Amelia is married and pregnant. The women that he took in the past... were not."
 She nodded. Everything was already in the file.
 "Amore’s influence in the government is huge..." Ava said when she started reading about the Coven Of the Silver Flame. The coven is not just the largest in North America, they also sponsor a few schools and even established a secret school for witches.
 When Ava was still a teenager, Gabriella asked her to join one of those schools too. But she declined. At that time, she didn’t want to use her abilities. So, she enrolled in a normal school and missed a lot of training. Flashbacks of how Gabriella really loved her coven filled her head. It only made her more irritated.

 She heard Matthew growl before she felt his hand close on top of hers.
 "If witches come to know that you are my mate..." Matthew said in a low voice.
 "I know Matthew. I know." People were scared of the things that they didn’t know. The uncertainty about their current condition was enough to frighten a few witches— especially the ones who knew about the first Lycan and Witch.
 Their conversation was interrupted when their car came to a screeching halt.
 The momentum threw her forward but Matthew was quick to catch her in his arms.
 "What the hell was that?" she asked.
 "Witches..." Marko Calida answered. He sounded angry, serious. "They are blocking our way."</div>
