Alexander stepped into the executive elevator and hit the button for the lobby while his knees were shaking slightly as the adrenaline finally started to drain from his system. When the metal doors slid open on the ground floor the blaring alarms had stopped but the tension in the room hadn’t changed because the security team was still standing there clustered near the entrance.

The lead guard who was a tall man with a scarred jaw stepped forward to block his path with a small smirk playing on his face "Have fun up there kid?" said the guard.

"What the absolute fuck was all of this?" said Alexander while wiping a layer of cold sweat from his forehead.

The guard chuckled while crossing his arms over his chest "You really don’t know who the young lady is do you?" said the guard.

"No I have no idea who she is, I still don’t understand what just happened here" said Alexander.

"She is Victoria Kingsley daughter of Joseph Kingsley so does that make sense to you now?" said the guard.

Alexander froze with a heart dropping into his stomach as his mind processed the name "Kingsley so don’t tell me it’s those Kingsleys?" said Alexander.

"Yeah so did you just realize where you are standing?" said the guard while gesturing toward the massive wall behind the reception desk.

Alexander turned his head and looked at the corporate logo emblazoned across the polished marble which was a golden lion wearing a crown belonging to The Kingsley Corporation.

They didn’t just own buildings since they practically owned half the country with major shares in luxury automotive brands and elite real estate and logistics giants and private defense contractors so anything that generated real wealth had the shadow of the Kingsley family behind it "Now do you get where you are?" said the guard.

"Jesus, now I am even more confused than before" said Alexander while leaning his back against a stone pillar.

"Don’t worry about it, it’s completely normal" said the guard while letting out a dry laugh "Though I have to admit it was pretty entertaining since you’re the first one to actually act like a real man because usually the guys the young lady brings around either shit themselves in fear or start blind-firing their weapons for real."

Alexander stared at him with eyes wide open "Are you telling me this happens often?" said Alexander.

"Mmm basically every week the young lady comes over and throws a massive tantrum so some shots get fired since it’s the usual stuff you know" said the guard as he reached into his tactical vest to pull out a pack of cigarettes and offered one to Alexander.

Alexander didn’t even smoke but his nerves were so completely shattered that he accepted it anyway to take a long heavy drag letting the harsh smoke burn his throat "Why?" said Alexander.

"Nobody really knows why she does it but you did a hell of a job" said the guard while slapping Alexander hard on the shoulder "That scream of keep going miss I’ll hold them off really touched my heart hahaha!"

Alexander just stared at him with a deadpan miserable expression.

"Don’t look at me like that kid" said the guard while his smile instantly vanished as his voice turned cold and serious "We were only playing along with the young lady’s little game, if we had actually wanted to stop you, you wouldn’t have even taken two steps inside this building before dying."

The leader casually shifted his tactical jacket to the side to reveal a custom sidearm and gave a slight nod toward the rest of the lobby where every single guard moved their coats to show off high-caliber pistols and compact assault rifles tucked tightly against their vests.

Alexander looked around the vast space with a stomach twisting into a hard knot because when he had charged in earlier his eyes had been completely blinded by pure panic and adrenaline but now he could see the reality of the situation.

There were security personnel stationed at every single structural pillar and every exit since in the main hallway alone there were more than forty heavily armed professionals watching the perimeter.

Trying to force his way through a fortress like this was a mathematical impossibility, they hadn’t been losing a gunfight since they had just been playing along to keep the boss’s spoiled daughter amused.
