Chapter 75: Chapter 75: The Price of Treason

The heavy Mercedes E 450 had barely come to a complete halt in the designated winner’s circle when Marcus came sprinting over his face split into a massive ecstatic grin.

"That was an absolute movie out there bro!" shouted Marcus slamming his hand against the driver’s side hood "Stealing the win on a stock chassis by scraping the sidewalk?

That was a completely unhinged move!"

The passenger door clicked open and Ivy slowly stepped out onto the asphalt.

Her entire body was visibly trembling from the lingering shock of the high-speed chase her knees slightly bucking but a wild exhilarated smile was plastered across her face.

April quickly jogged over right behind Marcus her eyes shining with newfound admiration as she looked at Alexander "You were incredible out there" said April leaning closer to the car window to offer her congratulations.

Alexander casually stepped out of the sedan completely unfazed by the praise as he adjusted his jacket.

He turned his gaze toward Marcus "So when is your race starting?" asked Alexander.

"It should be at the absolute end of the night" replied Marcus crossing his arms confidently "My bracket is the main headliner event so they save the heavy machinery for last."

He looked Alexander up and down with a smirk "Are you actually planning to stick around for it?"

"Of course I’m staying" stated Alexander a faint challenging smirk playing on his lips "I want to watch that massive monster of yours in actual action."

Marcus blinked a mischievous glint in his eye as he took the comment completely out of context "Whoa bro I’m definitely not showing you my dick you know?" said Marcus.

Alexander went completely blank his expression deadpan while April and Ivy instantly burst into a loud synchronized fit of laughter at the sudden ridiculous banter.

But the lighthearted moment evaporated in an absolute fraction of a second.

WRAAAAAN!

WRAAAAAN!

WRAAAAAN!

The sharp deafening wail of police sirens suddenly pierced the night air echoing violently from the main entrance ramps and the surrounding overpasses.

The neon-lit staging area instantly dissolved into pure unadulterated chaos.

Drivers began screaming tires screeched in panic and the race organizers were frantically shouting into their radios "Holy shit run!" yelled one of the track marshals sprinting past them "The perimeter is blown!

Something went completely wrong get out of here!"

There was absolutely no time for explanations or questions.

Marcus’s instincts kicked in instantly as he aggressively grabbed April by the wrist and the two of them bolted down the concrete lane toward his Corvette which was parked a considerable distance away near the rear exit "Alex!" screamed Ivy her face turning pale as she looked around at the oncoming chaos.

"Get in the car!

Now!" ordered Alexander.

They both scrambled into the Mercedes the engine roaring back to life with a heavy growl just as the first flash of red and blue lights illuminated the warehouse entrance.

Alexander slammed the car into drive and launched forward tearing out into the main avenue just as three heavy police cruisers aggressively swerved into the intersection attempting to form a solid unavoidable blockade "They’re blocking us in!" shrieked Ivy clutching the dashboard as the cruisers converged on their position.

Alexander didn’t panic.

Moving with absolute precision he slammed on the brakes in a dead stop letting the Mercedes’ weight shift perfectly before throwing the steering wheel around.

He aggressively shifted into reverse swung the back end out and slammed it back into drive changing their direction multiple times within a span of mere seconds to dodge the oncoming bumpers.

As he pushed the accelerator to the floor weaving effortlessly through the flashing lights and narrow gaps of the police trap a sudden familiar warmth flooded his chest.

His heart began to hammer violently and a sharp terrifyingly beautiful rush of pure adrenaline surged through his veins.

Looking at the chaotic chaos in his rearview mirror a dark introspective thought crossed Alexander’s mind "Is this really what I am?" thought Alexander a cold genuine smile slowly creeping onto his face as he pushed the luxury sedan to its absolute limit "Do I literally need to be standing on the absolute precipice of death just to feel alive?"

With three police cruisers recovering from his sudden maneuver behind him there was absolutely no time left to think as there was only time to act.

Alexander locked his eyes onto the road ahead completely filtering out the blinding glare of the flashing red and blue lights.

The entire intersection had dissolved into a massive bottleneck of screeching metal and panicking drivers but his sharp gaze instantly picked out a narrow darker opening toward a side avenue where the police presence was noticeably thinner "Hold on!" said Alexander.

He aggressively threw the steering wheel to the right forcing the Mercedes E 450 into a tight high-speed drift that carried them right past the rear bumper of a stationary patrol car.

Ivy let out a muffled gasp burying her face in her hands as the sedan rocketed down the dimly lit side street completely breaking away from the main chaotic cluster.

Utilizing the shadows of the industrial district and his superior top-end power Alexander navigated a rapid sequence of sharp turns until the distant wail of the sirens finally began to fade into nothingness.

They had successfully escaped.

Alexander slowly let off the accelerator bringing the luxury sedan back down to a completely normal law-abiding speed as they merged onto the quiet main highway.

The thick suffocating adrenaline in the cabin slowly began to dissipate leaving only the steady hum of the engine.

He glanced over at the passenger seat where Ivy was slowly lowering her hands her breath still coming in short ragged gasping intervals "Where do you live?" asked Alexander his voice entirely calm and steady as he adjusted his grip on the wheel "I’ll go drop you off at your place right now."

Ivy swallowed hard taking a moment to steady her shaking fingers before tapping frantically on her phone screen to look up her location "I... I live over on Elm Street near the downtown apartments" murmured Ivy her voice still carrying a slight tremor from the absolute thrill of the chase.

She quickly read aloud the exact address and building number.

Alexander nodded quietly reaching over to input the coordinates directly into the central GPS system.

The digital screen instantly illuminated the dashboard mapping out a clean peaceful route through the city streets and he shifted lanes to head straight toward her destination.
