They did not simply fly — those barrages of spear shot forward like a devastating storm, tearing violently through the mist as if trying to destroy everything that existed in their path.

The pallid haze was instantly pierced again and again by the relentless barrage, as the frozen weapons surged toward the invisible spider with unbelievable speed.

TINK! TINK!

TINK!

TINK! TINK! TINK!

TINK!

For a fleeting moment, the entire cavern was filled with loud, unceasing ringing sounds as numerous spears struck the stone walls with frightening force.

Each impact produced a sharp explosion of frost, sending countless ice fragments scattering savagely in every direction.

But something was amiss with her attack.

Calyra felt the ripples in the misty veil dancing in a perfect pattern.

The invisible presence slipped between the paths of her spears with frightening ease, the drifting fog revealing the faint currents of air that curved around a massive shape moving through it.

She realised...

The creature was weaving through her barrage!

Worse still, the ripples in the mist were growing larger with every passing heartbeat.

Calyra’s eyes sharpened as the fog before her twisted turbulently; something enormous had just entered the space directly in front of her.

ln that stretched, rapid moment, she managed to see two crimson eyes suspended in the air, faint and almost transparent within the drifting mist.

And those menacing eyes were getting closer!

Instinctively and calmly, Calyra cast [Blink] again.

The space around her body shifted, and she disappeared from her location, moving out of the way before the invisible attacker could strike.

And yet, as soon as she was moved to a new location....

Shkk! Shkk!

Her arms suddenly halted and her torso jerked slightly as though an invisible string had caught hold of her.

’This is...’

She knew exactly what it was. Yet Calyra remained calm despite the realization that struck her instantly.

’So it used the moment it went invisible to place another web trap inside the chamber.’

’How clever.’

She felt the delicate strands constricting around her arms and torso as she tested the restraint with a measured motion.

These threads did not feel rigid like the previous ones.

This time, the webs were adhesive rather than hardened.

But how could it alter the physical properties of its webs?

When she first arrived, the threads had been invisible, rigid, and razor-sharp. Now, they remained unseen, yet felt pliant and tacky.

Truthfully, she was well aware that Voidspawn could possess more than two Unnatural abilities.

So far, she had already identified cold resistance, invisibility, and the ability to conceal its threads from sight.

So... adhesive webs as well?

Was that not an excessive number of abilities?

Then, she realized the flaw in her reasoning.

No, it was not that the Silk Tyrant possessed multiple distinct web-based abilities.

Rather, it wielded a single capacity: the ability to manipulate the molecular structure and density of its threads, altering their rigidity, elasticity, and adhesion through the precise modulation of mana.

That was its true ability.

To eliminate all concealed traps, only one reliable method remained. She would have to cast [Cryostatic Field] once more. The spell would expand rapidly from her position, creating a frigid domain that would instantly solidify anything caught within its reach.

But there was a problem.

Calyra was still maintaining [Mistwatch Eyes].

The thin frost mist drifting through the chamber was sustained by her mana. It remained light and fluid so it could respond to the slightest movement of that spider in the air. That delicate state was the reason the spell worked so well for detection.

If she released [Cryostatic Field] while the [Mistwatch Eyes] was still active, the freezing pulse would immediately solidify the entire cloud of frost around her.

Instead of drifting freely through the chamber, the mist would instantly crystallize into countless suspended ice particles.

The moment that happened, the detection spell would collapse.

Which meant that if she cast [Cryostatic Field], she would have to deactivate [Mistwatch Eyes] first.

’This is getting more and more troublesome...’

Then, in that crucial instant, Calyra attempted to invoke [Blink], intending to tear through space and escape the immediate danger.

Yet, to her astonishment, the spell refused to answer.

Somehow, the adhesive web had completely interfered with her magic, binding even the surrounding space itself and mercilessly suppressing the very spell she relied upon.

Calyra let out a calm sigh.

’...It can also nullify my space magic?’

After realising that, it seemed like this Voidspawn was far more intelligent than most she had encountered.

It did not rely on brute force alone. Somehow it also observed, adapted, and adjusted its methods. The creature had already seen her manipulate space once, and now this strange webbing seemed designed to limit that advantage, as well.

It even felt as though the monster was studying her, using her as a test subject to measure how far its abnormal webs could evolve.

Then, from afar, she could sense it slowly drawing closer.

Yet it did not rush in to strike, even though she remained caught within its trap.

Why?

Why did it not attack when the chance was there?

Her eyes narrowed slightly as the answer began to form.

"I see... you were not unharmed either."

Calyra exhaled softly, while she analysed the magic behind the creature’s webs.

The previous barrage had not been meaningless. Although the creature had managed to avoid the worst of the storm, it had not escaped completely unscathed.

A few of the ice spears must have struck their mark!

The Voidspawn had endured the assault, but it had still suffered damage.

So, it was recovering.

Just as she was.

Which was fine.

If it needed time to recover, then she would use that same time to restore her mana flow, and consider a more effective approach.

Fighting this creature carelessly would only waste her strength. Its webs were troublesome, its intelligence even more so.

A direct assault would only repeat the same result.

Then, suddenly, a thought flashed across her mind.

Her eyes sharpened faintly.

There was still a way... a way for her to use both [Cryostatic Field] and [Mistwatch Eyes] at the same time.

But first, before she could activate the two spells together, she had to free herself from the web that restrained her.

After she had done analysing the webs, cautiously, she tested her water and ice spells.

From what she could tell, this strange webbing must have limits on what properties it could alter.

Because from her understanding, there was no way its webs could sustain more than three modifications at once.

If the webs nullified her spatial elements...

Then, using water and ice should allow her to break free.

With that in mind, Calyra channeled her mana and cast [Permafrost], allowing the biting cold to slowly creep along the sticky strands, hardening the once-elastic threads into rigid, brittle ice.

Calmly, she shattered the frozen bindings that had restrained her, the fractured fragments falling away like shattered glass.

It seemed her judgement had been correct.

Suddenly, Calyra sensed that the Silk Tyrant was finally on the move.

This time, however, the speed at which it moved was even more absurd than before... far faster than anything she had witnessed moments earlier.

She attempted to follow its movement through the thin veil of mist filling the chamber.

’What... is it trying to do now?’

Yet even with that aid, doing so would have forced her to twist her neck in every direction, as the creature were darting across every angle of the cavern simultaneously.

It was almost as if the beast was deliberately circling her, testing the limits of her perception after realizing that her mist magic could detect its movement.

Even so, the mist still worked just fine. From the peculiar disturbances rippling through it, and the speed at which each ripple appeared and vanished....

Calyra gradually pieced together the creature’s pattern.

The Tyrant Silk was not simply running through the chamber.

It was bouncing!

Using its invisible webs anchored across the cavern walls, the creature was launching itself from one point to another, slingshotting through the air with terrifying momentum.

That was its plan.

"So it’s building up speed... then trying to crush me with the force of its momentum."

Yet, for some reason she couldn’t quite define, a slow-burning anger began to build inside her.

Perhaps it was because of the way the creature continued to play with her, as if it relished the thrill of the hunt.

Perhaps it was the lingering frustration of realizing she had willingly played into this foolish scheme of fighting a Malice-class.

"Haa..." she sighed.

But, whatever the cause, the irritation steadily tightened in her chest until one simple conclusion remained clear in her mind.

She wanted this fight to end right here, and right now.
