The Record of Orc Civilization
Chapter 389: Another Fantasy Story
Moku glared at Furfur with narrowed eyes, while Furfur returned the stare with wide eyes.
They remained like this for several seconds until Moku exhaled deeply and sat cross-legged on the ground.
"You’re right, we’re not a new Mana Species previously unknown on this continent. You’re also right that we’re cursed and hated by Mana, just like monsters. A cursed species.
"But you’re wrong to say we aren’t a Mana Species. WE ARE A MANA SPECIES!!!... Or what’s left of what we once were..."
Moku bowed his head for a moment before looking back up at Furfur with eyes filled with hatred.
"Several decades ago, when the war between Humans and Elves began to wane, a period known in history as the Cold War began.
"The Cold War was a time when swords did not clash, cannons were not fired, and spells were not cast, but the warfare that occurred behind the scenes was far more brutal than actual battle.
"All the Mana Species on this continent raced to create new spells or discoveries that could surpass the other two Mana Species. Not just spells to counter the Sound Spell Faction, but also other spell factions were part of this weaponless war.
"Spies from all three sides were sent to uncover each other’s weaknesses, and border skirmishes disguised as ’bandit attacks’ continued. For the first time, Mana Species displayed the art of hypocrisy to a degree that made me sick!
"But more terrifying than that were the underground experiments that used living creatures as test subjects.
"Humans at that time tried to uncover why not a single drop of Mana existed in the bodies of monster species.
"They proposed various theories, one of which suggested a great secret to reaching Level 9 Constellation lay within the bodies of monster species.
"Eventually, mass captures of monster species occurred, nearly driving them to extinction on this continent.
"Yet, no one questioned this.
"After all, what Mana Species doesn’t hate monsters? To us, monsters were nothing more than pests with no purpose in this world. So, by using them as test subjects, at least they contributed to making the human species stronger."
Moku laughed derisively, but the scorn was directed at himself and perhaps all of humanity. Furfur did not interrupt and simply listened in silence.
Moku continued his story after he had laughed enough.
"Over time, the experiments grew larger and larger, eventually involving almost all Level 7 Constellation Mages. The new discoveries excited and delighted the researchers.
"Eventually, they were ready to test their experiments on Mana Species.
"Of course, the researchers had some conscience left and did not test on humans first. They used the prisoners of the First Mana Species War.
"All the warbeast and elf prisoners held at the Military Academy were brought to the research lab. Days passed, and all the prisoners the human alliance held were nearly gone, sacrificed to these bloody experiments.
"When the researchers at the laboratory were confident in their findings, they submitted a proposal to begin testing on humans."
As Moku spoke, his eyes darkened, appearing as if they held an abyss of endless darkness. The dragon prana within him fluctuated, making the aura around him more intense, and the air seemed to freeze, unable to move.
Moku was sure Furfur could feel the chilling bloodlust emanating from his uncontrolled emotions.
"But fortunately, the Human Alliance at that time rejected their request.
"Human morals were still unsettled; the fear of another attack from the other Mana Species kept humanity, usually divided, united.
"The Human Alliance couldn’t risk conducting dangerous experiments using humans as test subjects.
"Yet, how could the researchers simply give up?
"The findings from the monster bodies were astonishing! The monster species, long thought to be cursed and hated by Mana, actually contained a predator gene capable of absorbing Mana from its host.
"If this gene could be transplanted into the bodies of Mana Species, they would no longer need to meditate to get closer to Mana. They would only need to consume creatures containing Mana.
"In this world, every creature except monsters had Mana Flow within their bodies. With this predator gene, humans would only need to eat and drink to grow stronger!
"The authority of Mana to choose which creatures would be stronger than others could be usurped!
"Humans wouldn’t need to bow to Mana anymore—they could take what Mana had denied them.
"This research aimed not only to make humanity stronger than elves or warbeasts but to create new gods!"
Moku’s breath raced as if he could sense what the researchers were thinking at that moment. But it was all replaced with an overwhelming anger that even his bottomless dark black eyes could no longer contain.
"Thus, even though the Human Alliance banned experiments on humans, the researchers defied these orders.
"They continued their experiments in secret, kidnapping humans who lacked strong identities and connections that would compel the Alliance to search for them.
"Initially, they experimented on adults with strong physiques, such as adventurers. But the results were disappointing because adult bodies no longer had sufficient growth genes to accommodate the predator genes from monsters.
"In the end, they resorted to kidnapping babies from their mothers’ arms. To cover their tracks, they killed the mothers too.
"These babies were raised in the laboratory, with predator genes grafted into their bodies daily.
"Although babies had many growth genes, their bodies were too weak to accept such powerful genes as the predator genes.
"Eventually, hundreds, if not thousands, of babies died in the first week, their bodies melting.
"Still, the researchers didn’t give up.
"They continued abducting babies and killing mothers. This went on for not just one or two years but decades.
"Finally, fifteen years ago, the first baby successfully adapted to the predator gene grafted into its body. Soon after, other babies followed, until there were twenty boys who had adapted to the predator gene.
"They called these boys ’Arion’ in honor of the first Human Mana God, Aryan."
Moku paused, his eyes returning to their calm state as he focused on Furfur. He smirked mischievously and said mockingly, "And the rest... I think you can guess how this story ends, can’t you?"
Furfur’s eyes narrowed as he replied,
"The children then rebelled, killing all the researchers in that secret laboratory. Since the Human Alliance was unaware of this research, they were safe from the oversight of human mages.
"Later, when the demon species invaded the continent, these children saw an opportunity to reappear as a new Mana Species.
"They did this, of course, to exact revenge on humanity for their suffering and the murder of their parents. Is that the continuation of your story?"
"Do you not believe it?" Moku retorted.
Hot black smoke puffed from Furfur’s nostrils as he snorted. In a gruff voice, he said, "There are too many loopholes in your story for me to believe it entirely.
"Besides, if you truly are beings capable of overthrowing Mana’s power in this world, then you are also our enemies, as demons.
"Your fantasy won’t save you or your species from us. Surely you realize that? Or are you too foolish to understand?"
"Don’t mock me demon! I never tell you this to spare my life. Do you not know that I do not fear death? Besides, we Arion have never feared demons! Our goal has always been to wipe out all Mana Species from the face of the earth. You are merely one of our four targets!" Moku spoke with such honesty that his eyes seemed to shine.
This time, Moku spoke from his heart, making it impossible for Furfur to detect any deceit.
"FufufufuhahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Furfur laughed heartily, completely disregarding Moku’s words.
Perhaps if Moku were in his position, he too would laugh.
How could a species that had only existed for a few years dare to claim they would annihilate species that had lived for hundreds of thousands of years?
However, Moku knew how quickly the Asura could develop and their limitless potential. He was confident that the Wilwatikta Kingdom wouldn’t need centuries to conquer the world—just a few years.
Within the next five years, Moku believed the monster species could match any Mana Species in number. And in ten years, they could rival all Mana Species together in strength.
Currently, they only needed time to grow and sufficient resources. If those two conditions were met, the monster species would soon dominate the world with their green presence.
"I admire your courage, young Arion. But courage alone is not enough to earn respect in this world. You did manage to defeat Foras in a one-on-one fight. But what about the rest of your species? Do they also deserve respect from us demons?" Furfur stopped laughing and challenged Moku with a defiant look.
Moku lifted his chin and said, "Just say it!" Although his face showed annoyance, his heart was currently soaring with excitement.
Furfur smiled and said, "I want you to annihilate the entire human species from this continent!"
