The Reincarnator's Inauspicious Route to Finding Love
Chapter 70: It’s Too Much (3)
He had just recently woken up in a body that wasn’t his, in a world that was all too new to him. He then found himself with a father he had never had before– a man who was cold, ruthless, and harsh. His mother, which had also been a new experience since he had never really known his mother when he was living as Seo-jun all that well, had been kind and caring but distant.
Along with all of that, he had to attend school once again, but this time while learning to use magic. And it was at school where he found himself in a fresh and budding relationship with a man who was a prince and who may or may not be his bondmate. He also just found out that he didn’t have that long to finish a full painting, write a brand new song. . .well, rearrange a song from his old world, and perform said song all for the upcoming Festival.
And now he was finding out that his new body’s birth parents may actually be a former Crown Princess of a neighboring Kingdom and his maternal uncle. It had been something he had been suspecting, he just hadn’t been expecting for it to come to light so soon into his newly reincarnated life.
It’s just too much for me to handle.
The bed sank down beside him as Mikyle sat down. "Are you alright? I know it’s a lot to take in, but I’m here if you need me."
Adrien looked up at Mikyle and silently came to a decision. Maybe this will also help me figure out if I’m really Mikyle’s bondmate or if the connection is strictly through Adrien Mallorne’s body.
Adrien looked away, needing a second to gather his thoughts. The curtains surrounding the bed swayed, telling him that there must be an open window somewhere.
Mikyle placed a hand on his shoulder. "Kitten?"
The use of the nickname that Mikyle had fondly given him, was the final piece Adrien needed to collect himself. Adrien slowly turned his face until he was looking into Mikyle’s eyes. "What would you say if I told you that my soul and my body belong to two different people." He then preceded to tell Mikyle about his life as Seo-jun– his family history, life, death, and even the second life that he now found himself in. He told him everything except for the fact that he had read about this world in a book from his old world.
When Adrien was done, trepidation filled him as he hesitantly looked at Mikyle.
Mikyle was staring at him carefully with a thoughtful expression on his face. His red eyes lingered on him, unwavering as they seemed to stare straight through him, piercing his inner core.
Adrien suppressed a shiver at that thought.
Without breaking eye contact, Mikyle brought a hand up and cupped it around Adrien’s lower face. "You possess the memories of both Adrien Mallorne and Seo-jun Kim?"
Adrien licked his lower lip, all too aware of the heat from Mikyle’s hand. "Yes."
"Hmm?" Mikyle’s thumb rubbed slow circles into his skin. "I’m sorry you had to go through all of that."
It was such a simple statement, a sentence that anyone could have said. But hearing that simple statement made Adrien feel choked up.
The rhythmic motions Mikyle’s thumb was rubbing into his face continued. "Is possessing the memories of two individuals the reason you had that look on your face when I confessed that you may be my bondmate? You looked happy then distraught, lost almost."
Adrien’s eyes fluttered closed briefly. "I was afraid that if this thing between us is really because of me being your bondmate, then was it formed from my soul, body, or both? It was a stupid question that I just couldn’t stop myself from asking– for doubting everything, even if it was just for a moment."
A warmth and a soft press of lips against Adrien’s forehead had his eyes fluttering open. Pink dusted his cheeks from embarrassment after admitting his fears out loud.
"You’re right. It was stupid, not for having those kinds of fears or self-doubt, but from keeping it to yourself for so long." Mikyle’s hand slowly moved up until his thumb was brushing the patch of skin underneath Adrien’s eye. "Next time, if you ever have any doubts about what’s between us, then please tell me. I will do everything in my power to assure you of my feelings for you."
Adrien’s heart fluttered at the softly spoken yet reassuring words.
Mikyle’s thumb rubbed a long line underneath Adrien’s eye, coming to a stop at his mole, where he gently rubbed soothing circles into it.
"My Little Kitten, you are the one I came to know and love. It doesn’t matter to me if the Soulbond is connected to your soul or your body because the soul that is uniquely yours, and the current body you are residing in belong solely to you in my mind."
Adrien’s eyes closed as he listened to the sweet words flowing from Mikyle’s sensuous mouth. His head dipped lower, pressing into Mikyle’s hand.
He really had been stupid. His worries seemed silly and uncalled for in the face of the man before him.
"I’m sorry for not saying anything sooner, and. . .thank you."
Mikyle chuckled softly as he continued his ministrations. "No need for thanks, Kitten. I fear I’ve been too physically attentive which may have led to your current fears." He released a sigh, his thumb pausing briefly. "But I fear it is just too hard not to ravish you when you make those delectable sounds."
Adrien’s eyes snapped open and his face instantly felt warm. "Milyle!" His cheeks were flushed a brilliant red and his heart thumped loudly within his chest.
Milyle leaned back while releasing unrestrained laughter. His eyes curved up into beautiful crescents, and those red orbs sparkled in delight.
Adrien felt his heart thump painfully against his ribcage. Adrien had seen many sides to Mikyle, but he still found Mikyle breathless like a piece of art or a work of God when he laughed so joyously.
He looked away while tucking a strand of his already long hair behind his ear as he suddenly felt shy.
Mikyle’s hand dropped from Adrien’s face and slowly snaked itself around his waist. In one fluid motion, Mikyle lifted Adrien up until he was situated on his lap. Mikyle then leaned his chin on Adrien’s shoulder. "Will you draw me a picture of yourself as Seo-jun Kim?"
Draw myself as Seo-jun? Can I? Should I? I looked drastically different in my old life. What if Mikyle doesn’t like how I looked as Seo-jun? And then Adrien realized that he was losing himself in his fears again. "I might be able to draw you one, but I have to warn you that I looked completely different from what I do now. You might not be pleased with how I used to look."
Mikyle’s arms tightened around Adrien’s waist. "You could have been male, female, old, young, overweight, or even on the thin side and it would not matter to me. No matter what you looked like before, I will still love even that version of you. No, I can guarantee that I would have fallen for you just the same if we had met in that world instead of this one. Though the unfortunate truth that I hate to admit is that the reason I was originally curious about you was because I thought that you may have been a disgraced noble’s daughter dressed as a boy."
"You thought I was a girl?!" Actually, that’s not even that outlandish since I do possess slightly feminine looks.
"I did. Though I was infinitely pleased to learn that you weren’t. And even more pleased that you were like a fiery kitten with its fur raised."
Adrien found himself laughing along to Mikyle’s words. Mikyle smiled that small, lopsided smirk of his as he watched Adrien.
Adrien found himself relaxing into Mikyle’s arms as he finally calmed down. "You know, it’s gonna be strange to see myself with black hair again." Adrien raised a hand to his hair and twisted a piece nervously between his fingers.
"Oh? So you as Seo-jun had black hair? That’s nice to know." Mikyle nuzzled Adrien’s neck with his nose, causing Adrien to feel rather ticklish. "Unfortunately you won’t be able to let it show. That’s why I had Meredith bring a potion to dye your hair blonde."
Adrien decided to reveal some more of his secrets, he just hoped that Mikyle wouldn’t become angry at him, or worse, suspicious.
He tapped Mikyle’s arm with a finger. "Isn’t Meredith Howell Henry Howell’s wife? The same Henry who is the so-called guild master of Dor-Shey Da’at."
Mikyle paused in his nuzzling. Then warm breath spanned across Adrien’s skin as Mikyle started chuckling. "If what you’re hinting at is that I’m the true owner of the information guild, then you are correct. I am the owner. But how– no, when did you figure it out."
"I started having my suspicions when you showed me the Portal Communicator," admitted Adrien.
Mikyle’s small chuckle became full-blown laughter as he raised his head from Adrien’s shoulder. "That’s my Kitten! You can be very observant at times."
I’m not that observant, I just happened to read about it.
