Chapter 434: What happened to Demon Emperor

Amon and Selena came to the other side of the portal.

The same kind of gate station came into view. It was made up of white marble.

Both of them exited the building. A white noble car was standing ready for them. A man wearing a black suit stood outside.

Watching Selena, he knelt on one knee respectfully before her. One hand rested on his chest. "Greetings, Your Highness. I’m honored to be able to meet you and escort you."

"Stand up."

The man stood up and bowed to Amon. "Welcome, sir," he said, then he opened the door of the car’s backseat.

Selena gave him a nod and entered the car.

"Thank you, sir," Amon thanked the man and entered inside, sitting beside Selena.

The man sat in the driver’s seat and started the engine.

Amon was surprised to see no one here except one driver. After all, Selena was a princess—a royal princess, not some normal noble. He had thought that Duke Luminous might personally come here to escort them. But he was wrong.

"Hey, Senior. Why is there no one? I mean, you are a princess! There should be more people to welcome you here," he asked with a puzzled expression.

Selena’s lips twitched, and she looked at Amon with a calm gaze. "It’s not that they didn’t want to come. Rather, I strictly told them not to come and to send only a driver."

"Ohhk! Fair enough. I know you don’t like much attention," Amon replied, nodding understandingly.

"By the way, does Seraphina’s house have a teleportation gate at their house?"

"They have one. But they use it strictly for important matters."

Amon saw the city from the window as the car moved through the wide road.

Just as he expected, it was grand and beautiful, just like the capital city. But it looked more vibrant and warm.

"So, Senior, has Sir Alistair Luminous done something great recently while I was stuck on the island?" he asked while turning his attention back to Selena, his eyes showing clear curiosity.

Her lips curved upward slightly. "I forgot to tell you this. You might not know, but we are in a peace treaty with the Demon Kingdom."

"Oh yes, I heard about it! Damn, but I forgot. Can you tell me why that happened? How did we come to friendly terms?" Amon asked curiously, his tone excited and eager.

"Actually, when you were away, some things happened out of nowhere. The Demon Emperor Xalvorn—he was killed."

"What? Damn, that’s really crazy. How did he die? Who killed him? Who is the current emperor then?" Amon’s eyes widened in shock as he spoke.

"Hah... well, the one who killed him was none other than Alistair Luminous, younger brother of my grandfather."

Amon was really shocked. The strongest being in the world, whom Amon would meet soon, had actually killed the Demon Emperor Xalvorn.

He remained silent for a while, trying to digest the information. "Why did he do that? How did he come back like nothing happened, nor did the Demon Kingdom try to attack us?" His face showed deep astonishment.

A smile formed on her usually indifferent face. "He was on the Abyssal Continent Nerathis for some reason. Mother didn’t tell me why. But it was for something important. And then he entered the Demon Kingdom, Morvanyr, while traveling. As you know, he was respected and feared throughout all nations. When the Demon Emperor got to know about him roaming in his kingdom, he set a meeting with him. Just a normal meet-up to be on friendly terms with him even if being from an enemy kingdom."

Amon nodded, listening to her words carefully, his expression focused.

While the driver was not paying much attention—not because he was not interested, rather he was already aware of it.

"And during that meeting, Grandpa Alistair killed him."

"So... nothing happened after that? No reaction from them?" Amon inquired, his brows furrowed in confusion.

"No... because it was already planned. He is not someone who would sneak in somewhere and let others know about it. If Grandpa wanted no one to know about him being in that kingdom, then no one would have ever found out about him."

"Then why? Why did he do this?" Amon pressed, leaning slightly forward with interest.

"Someone approached him. No, not when he entered the Demon Kingdom. But even before he went to the Abyssal Continent, someone had contacted him. That person wanted to have friendly terms with human kingdoms and wanted to be the next Demon ruler."

"Ohh, so who was it?" His eyes lit up with intrigue.

"Grand Duchess Nyxariel Noctyra. She is the current ruler of the Demon Kingdom Morvanyr. Now she is the Demon Empress."

"Crazy!!! So basically she had already huge support from many noble factions. So it didn’t grow into something chaotic? Even the Demon’s royal family was subdued?" Amon exclaimed, his face reflecting amazement.

"Yes. You catch on to it."

"No wonder Duchess Elizabeth allowed demons in her territory."

"Well, enough talking. We are at our destination," Selena said, her voice carrying a note of finality.

Amon turned to look at the palace.

It stood tall with ivory walls. They rose proudly beneath the morning sky. Wide balconies, arch windows, and carefully carved details gave the structure a noble presence. Without unnecessary extravagance, it was a palace built not to intimidate, but to endure.

The huge gates at the entrance slid open by guards outside.

The car slowly entered inside. It continued forward, stopping at the entrance of the palace.

Servants were gathered for the welcome.

One of the servants walked forward and opened the door for Amon and Selena to step out.

She got off first. Her high heels clicked against the surface made up of ivory stones.

There at the huge, luxurious door stood a few individuals.

There stood an extremely handsome man. He looked in his thirties but stood tall with broad shoulders and a gentle expression. His eyes were gold like twin suns. His face was clean without any spot or mark. He was none other than Alistair Luminous. He wore a black and golden tailored suit.

On his left side stood a man who looked like Alistair. A man who also appeared to be in his thirties. Short blonde hair and a beard framed his face. His eyes were golden in color. He was Bertram Luminous, son of Alistair Luminous and father of Seraphina.

Beside him stood a beautiful lady, looking like she was in her early thirties. Her dark auburn hair waved down beautifully. She wore an emerald-colored gown that matched her eye color.

Amon observed them with awe. Then his eyes fell on the charming young woman standing beside the lady. She was wearing a plain black t-shirt matching black pants. Her long golden blonde hair was tied in a high ponytail. Sweat dripped from her forehead as if she was training and had come directly from there to welcome her princess.

Her golden eyes widened in pure shock. Her mouth opened slightly as she looked at Amon without blinking her eyes. Even in such a normal outfit, she really looked beautiful and cute.

"Welcome, my dear niece Selena! How are—" Before Bertram could welcome Selena with a gentle smile on his face.

Seraphina dashed forward. Her long ponytail waved behind as she closed the distance between Amon and her.

Amon blinked his eyes. ’Wait, why is she coming here???’ Before he could react, Seraphina was already in front of him at an insane speed. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Her arms opened wide as she wrapped them around Amon. She took him in a hug. Not just a light one, but she held him tightly against her.

She buried her face in the crook of his neck. Her chest pressed against his. Amon nearly lost his balance because of her hug. But somehow he controlled it.

He could smell the scent of her hard work. But he didn’t mind it. He was shocked as well but only for a moment.

’She must be worried about me.’ He wrapped his arms back, giving her a hug.

"Hey Sera~ I’m back. And I came to meet you," he said playfully while forgetting that there were many pairs of eyes looking at them.

One of them was looking at him with pure rage.

While Selena watched them with amusement, with some flicker of worry. "I didn’t think something like this would happen," she muttered in a voice audible only to her.

Already wondering what trouble this would bring upon her, especially on Amon.

Alistair Luminous maintained his composed stance, his golden eyes observing the scene with quiet depth.

Bertram Luminous had begun his welcoming words with warmth, only to be interrupted by his daughter’s impulsive action. His eyes were furious.

The beautiful lady beside him held a poised demeanor, her emerald gown shimmering lightly in the light.

Seraphina’s sudden movement created a brief stir in the otherwise orderly arrival. Amon felt the firmness of her embrace, the warmth contrasting the cool morning air around them.
