Third Person POV

Loc Muinne.

...

...

Madara and Ciri gathered with their closest companions, while Tissaia also came to join them last, at the moment when all the kings were leaving the temple.

"I believe it’s time for us to go. Staying here any longer would be a waste of time," Madara said.

In the end, more and more people were approaching. He could see the greed in their eyes as Madara was studied from head to toe. That was certainly irritating him. He was not a zoo animal for them to simply think they could observe him like that.

Madara wondered whether he should release his Susanoo and scare those people or not. Because of that, he considered the alternative of simply leaving before a layer of blue chakra began to form around him.

Even Ciri was already becoming irritated.

She was talking with the sorceresses, but she still remained constantly aware of her surroundings. She could clearly see that everyone had their eyes on them — especially on her husband.

She was the key to having Cintra, a political piece that many there still did not fully understand. She was not famous for being powerful, she had never stood out in any important event where she could release her power, the forest in the north of Kaedwen was never named as being destroyed by her nor did it become public that the legend of the Wild Hunt was after her...

However, her husband was different. She might be the key to the kingdom in everyone’s eyes, but he was the power that unbalanced the entire North — no, the whole world.

The kings no longer had as much control as they once did after Madara released his true power in the Battle of Sodden. That was far worse than any victory Nilfgaard had over Sodden and Temeria.

Today, they had come face to face with something that their subjects, their armies, their spies and their contacts could not give them: something they simply could not control.

Something that threatened their lives, their wealth and their titles.

They had tried today, in a desperate attempt, to control Madara’s power and influence. His name brought fear to any army...

But her husband did not yield.

He would never be weak in front of those people.

That was why Ciri was cautious about her own pregnancy. Because if their child were capable of doing only ten percent of what Madara could do, the future of the entire North could be set on an uncertain path.

That left them afraid.

Terrified.

And she had no doubt that their child would have far more than ten percent of his father’s power.

No.

He would be far more than that.

And he was her child as well.

Ciri knew the extent of her own powers. She was the only one who could stand face to face with Madara — at least a little, certainly better than anyone in that place.

She considered herself the strongest woman in the world.

Nothing less would be worthy of the most powerful man.

Both of them made all those men and women, with the power their families had possessed for centuries or even millennia, simply seem like nothing compared to what they were capable of doing.

Ciri could not help but imagine her grandmother there as well, watching them, seeing that scene, seeing their political position before all the kings. They were a king and a queen without territory, but they were also a king and a queen that none of them — nor any alliance they could form — would be capable of facing. Would she be proud of Ciri and Madara? The girl wondered.

"Alright, let’s go. I agree with that as well," Yennefer said, interrupting Ciri’s thoughts a little.

"If we can avoid portals..." Geralt murmured carefully.

Madara mocked. "We’ll go with my teleport."

"I’ll return to Novigrad so as not to raise too many suspicions. Later, if Madara can come get me..." Triss said this time.

"You are basically among us and being watched by everyone. Do you really think they won’t already know?" Yennefer retorted.

Triss shrugged. "It’s better to try to avoid as many doubts as possible. Besides, I want to hear what they have to say."

She said this while looking directly at Madara, who nodded.

It was obvious that they would not say anything too explicit in front of Triss, given the way she could communicate with the group. But Madara already had certain clones in the shadows of some of those men, listening to every detail.

Some were still making plans, schemes, raising doubts about how someone could have so much power. They asked if the kings would really allow something like that.

They talked about trying to create alliances, about trying to ally with him and make Madara control the world or even prevent him from reclaiming Cintra.

There were those who still suggested limiting his power, saying that Madara would not be capable of fighting against the entire North.

Some even whispered about assassination.

About killing Madara and Ciri before she became pregnant — or before her pregnancy was confirmed.

Madara marked each of those names.

He would also carry out his silent purge in the kingdoms over the next few days.

He never liked to face wars with assassinations, but he would certainly deal with schemes in the same way. Those people would not even know where the blow would come from, nor would they know that their small whispers had sealed their fate.

Death would come so quickly that they would not even notice.

In any case, Triss left the group.

Madara took Ciri’s hand and touched Geralt’s shoulder. Geralt had his hand on Yennefer, while the black-haired sorceress had Geralt’s and Ciri’s hands on each side.

Everyone saw the strange movement.

Suddenly, Madara and the others disappeared in a flash before everyone’s eyes.

"What?"

"Was that a normal teleport? They didn’t even open a portal!"

"It’s so silent and fast..."

"I’ve never seen magic like that."

"That wasn’t magic."

"Indeed... it was Madara Uchiha who did that. That guy... how far do his abilities go?"

"And no one has any idea what he is really capable of yet?"

Comments began to arise one after another, turning the whispers into a small commotion.

Hiraishin was more than a new concept of teleportation for them, something Madara had developed in the last moons. It showed that Madara was becoming even more dangerous than he appeared.

Since he could teleport instantly in that way, without anyone knowing about the markings, it made him even more lethal.

And that was frightening.

Tissaia soon became the target of questions about Madara and about that ability, since she had come with them. People tried to extract information, asking where they were staying, but she refused to speak, while still looking at the place where the teleportation had happened.

Madara’s teleportation was still as surprising to her as it had been the first time Yennefer and Triss had seen him use it.

Even so, the questions kept coming. Still, as an ally, she refused to answer them. She deflected in an elegant and evasive way, while the name Novigrad began to appear among the whispers.

The city had changed, and it was not only Redania that knew it. Spies from entire kingdoms were whispering about the weakening of the new religion. The Eternal Fire was being contained, and that explained why the High Septon had refused to leave the capital, seeing the danger established in Novigrad for him and the religion.

Madara and the others would not know anything more about what happened at that meeting until their own informants sent news.

But they did not care.

The environment full of whispers and greedy looks had been left behind.

"So, what do you want to do?" Ciri asked immediately.

She was sitting on the bed with her back slightly turned, while looking at Madara. Madara watched as Ciri’s illusion disappeared, and her belly already at the end of pregnancy appeared again.

"Well... we have the entire continent to travel, my princess," Madara replied. "King Bran invited us to a private dinner... which I think would be good to gather everyone and discuss the meeting among allies." Madara said.

"That’s true. And grandpa already wanted to stay here in the temple for the next few days," Ciri said in reference to Mousesack.

"We can go... But we’re going to be doing nothing until the evening..." she said with a teasing tone, while he ignored her question and knelt in front of her and looked at her belly.

"And how are you?" There was tenderness in his voice.

He was practically asking if that meeting had stressed Ciri. The meeting had not even lasted a day, even though it had been planned to last two or three. But Madara had been quite decisive in the negotiations.

"I’m fine. Hungry, but fine," she replied with her heart softened, while her husband continued to worry about her and their baby.

Madara might seem cold most of the time, but if someone observed his small actions and glances behind that impassive mask, they would understand a lot.

Ciri understood.

She ended up letting out a silly smile.

Perhaps it was in his nature to show indifference toward the world, but unlike the others, she could see through it. He cared.

He always wanted to take care of her.

Of her and the little baby.

"You know, husband..." Ciri said, leaning forward as she held his face with both hands. "You speaking in that firm and decisive way in front of all the kings and queens... was so sexy." She pressed her lips together, teasing.

Madara snorted.

"It’s a shame that I have to wait a few more weeks..." she continued, smiling mischievously. "But soon, I want you all to myself."

She still could not have relations in the last weeks of the pregnancy, but that did not mean her desire for her husband had decreased.

She just needed to endure it for their son. After that, she would have Madara just for herself.

"Besides, did you see how those sorceresses were looking at you? As if they were trying to seduce you. Tell me, husband... you didn’t think about any of them, right?" Ciri asked suspiciously, while already seeming ready to burst out laughing.

Madara simply looked at her as if he were facing an idiot.

That made Ciri start laughing.

"Stop being foolish, Ciri." Madara just said.

"Alright... sorry, sorry." She said cheerfully.

"Now let’s inform the others about our plan. We also need to send a message to Mousesack. By the way..." Madara paused briefly, "...do you want to go for a walk? Like I said, we have the entire continent to visit, wherever you want. But I was thinking about the hot springs. You like that place. We can relax and go out at night."

Hearing that, Ciri’s smile widened. "Of course, husband. As you wish," she replied.

In the end, they changed clothes and went to speak with Yennefer and Geralt, while Ciri updated Yennefer about the plans.

After passing the information directly to Mousesack through Yennefer’s magical mirrors, Madara went to pick up Triss in Novigrad and brought her to the temple.

Ciri opened her own magical mirror and spoke with Isabella, who was studying in Aretuza. During the conversation, she shared the news, saying that no one was talking about anything other than the meeting of the kings. Isabella was eager to know what had happened, since many teachers — and even the headmistress — had gone to the meeting.

The students at Aretuza had no idea what had been discussed, so Ciri shared some of the things that had happened with her friend.

Madara arrived shortly afterward and helped Ciri with the kimono, since she still did not have much practice putting on that type of clothing by herself.

Then both of them disappeared.

They appeared in a somewhat remote region, where there was a volcano and small forests around it. There was a bathhouse built by Madara, made of wood, near the hot springs.

The place was not hot enough to affect Ciri, so they could relax there peacefully.

She loved the hot water.

Even the baby seemed to like it, because she felt small kicks coming from inside her belly.

Ciri laughed.

"Just wait to see your son very soon," she said with a maternal smile.

When night came, everyone went to Kaer Morhen, where a small private banquet was held for Bran.

Ciri could not reveal her pregnancy publicly, so it was only a banquet among trusted friends... Many still thought she was only at the beginning of the pregnancy — or that perhaps she had still not managed to become pregnant by Madara since the wedding.

As soon as she appeared, many tried to analyze her.

But, despite using only an illusion, Ciri used her own Elder Blood power to create a protective layer around herself, preventing her from being studied by any magic.

It was protection against magical eyes and even against mental intrusions.

Magic users tried everything, like a true hornet’s nest trying to uncover secrets — even seeking information directly from their minds.

Obviously, Madara and Ciri were not affected at all.

Not even Geralt, Yennefer, and Triss suffered any successful attempt.

That was because Madara had inscribed a series of fūinjutsus on them, seals that protected them against any attempt of that kind.

And that certainly drew the attention of many there, but no one raised their voice about it. In any case, the meeting and all the discussions among the kings had been left behind.

Especially for Ciri.

Now, she was simply relaxing, as she should be.

Soon, they would have their baby, their heir.

And for Ciri, that was the symbol of the relationship that existed between her and her husband — the love she felt for him would finally give a life.
