This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist
Chapter 1352 Divine Game: Graveyard of Bones 74
Neither Lynx Duke nor the King had truly made things difficult for the successors of their divine relics.
The upgraded Cat’s Ideal was far stronger than Rita had expected. Even though the King’s Burial Time had not yet connected to reality, she could leave through Absolute Freedom whenever she wanted.
The only question was whether she could enter again whenever she wished.
She voiced that guess directly and asked the King for confirmation.
"No," the King said firmly. "Our Graveyard of Bones moves. It is like flowing seawater. It only freezes at fixed moments. Aside from the few minutes when we surface from Order Clock, you cannot find us. Just like you cannot accurately locate one drop of water in the sea."
"And even during the few minutes when we connect to reality, you still need to find us first. Of course, you have the divine relic. If you use the same method you used to find me before, I can sense you. If I want to see you, I will return to find you. But for other divine wills, you will have to search on your own."
"You are the present of Order. The wills buried here are all Order’s past. Unless we allow it, no existence can disturb us."
Rita was not disappointed by that answer.
The ones buried here were all powerful beings from the past. If she wanted to visit, she would naturally have to knock first.
Thinking of the five-minute bell toll when QM Rita fully ignited her soul fire, Rita asked, "Those few minutes when you surface from Order Clock, are they the same time period when you fully ignited your soul fire?"
"Yes. Has someone outside already fully left their player identity behind?"
"Mm."
Rita answered, but her thoughts drifted to QM Foolishness.
The duration of each divine will’s appearance varied, but most were around five minutes.
Byme had the longest, a full five minutes and six seconds.
Lynx Duke was shorter, but still more than four minutes. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Only QM Foolishness had just three minutes.
Was that because of the gem eye Starsea Foolishness had forced upon her?
She thought it, and then asked.
"Oh, that has nothing to do with those things. Under normal circumstances, we can awaken for at most five minutes each day. But we each reserve a small portion of that time for the being most special to us."
The King explained, "The time reserved can only be seen by the one we miss. If they appear in Graveyard of Bones during that window, we can sense each other immediately."
The hairless cat frowned for a while, then found a comparison. It raised a paw and spoke with solemn devotion.
"I call it waiting. Whether the other side comes or not, we set aside a few seconds, or even a few minutes, to wait for their arrival."
After giving such a detailed explanation, the King looked at BS Rita, expecting a grateful look.
Instead, he found her standing there, lost in thought.
The King stood up in displeasure and patted her knee with one paw.
After snapping her back to herself, he asked in confusion, "Who did you think of this time? How many people have you met in Graveyard of Bones?"
"Beacon Byme. Do you know her?" Rita asked. "Why can she awaken for five minutes and six seconds?"
What she actually wanted to ask was why Byme had not reserved all her time for Deceitful Bloom.
But she stopped herself at the last second and changed the question.
"Oh, I know her. Most wills in Graveyard of Bones know her. Even if our times do not overlap, we have our own information network. She is the exception."
"How so?"
"You can think of soul fire as the embodiment of emotion. Her soul fire... her soul fire..."
The King actually stumbled over his words.
After thinking for a long while and failing to find the right adjective, he simply gave the conclusion.
"Order Clock is extremely fond of Byme’s soul fire."
Love, hatred, resentment, regret, grief, joy.
There were so many emotions in the world. In Order Clock’s eyes, there was no right or wrong among them. Only whether their temperature was high enough.
"According to what I heard, she originally used all her time for waiting. But era after era passed, and the one she waited for never came. To see other gods or divine wills, she slowly began appearing. Later, her appearance time grew longer and longer."
"Everyone knows her waiting will never have a result."
The King did not say it too clearly. He did not seem to like discussing other people’s private matters.
But Rita understood.
The longer Byme failed to wait for Deceitful Bloom, the hotter her soul fire burned.
Order Clock gave her more time, making that hopeless waiting even longer.
Rita forced herself to pull away from those thoughts.
She knew what she needed to know.
She had been in the King’s Burial Ground for less than three hours. Thinking of the situation before she entered, and the information she had gained in the Demon Tavern, she said, "I should go."
The King widened his eyes. "You ask your questions, then just pat your butt and leave?"
Rita obediently sat back down.
Before the King could nod in satisfaction, she smoothly tossed out another question she had just thought of.
"You said you have an information network. Then do you know who appears from 3:10:38 a.m. to 3:15:19 a.m.?"
The King’s expression instantly turned serious.
"Why are you asking about that person?"
"Byme gave me the location. At first, I thought she wanted me to get stronger, but the more I thought about it, the more it felt wrong. Is the being buried at that time very powerful?"
"Whether they are powerful is one thing. The main point is that they are very special."
The King explained, "The divine wills buried here have an unspoken understanding. After Graveyard of Bones starts, even if an opposing player enters our Graveyard of Bones, we will not trap them for too long."
"But the place you mentioned buries an ancient will from Quiet Mountain. They do not care much for rules. Normally, they will not bother with players. But if a BS player actively finds them and wakes them, they will trap that player in their Graveyard of Bones until the game ends."
"Byme is trying to hurt you!" Nivalis said angrily.
But she could not understand it either.
"If she asked around about you, she should know you are the most important player in this timeline. Why would she drag you down?"
"Because she is unhappy," Rita said, helpless and wistful.
"Because Deceitful Bloom favors you? Did she even ask properly?" Nivalis was furious.
"No. She is not that childish."
Rita had only noticed something wrong after hearing the explanation about time.
Extra Chapter Rita could self-destruct just to make QM Rita never dare summon her again. She knew she was only an Extra Chapter summoned by QM Rita. She had no future.
What about Beacon Byme?
After "recovering" her memory and looking back on that endless waiting, how did Byme feel?
Would she keep waiting?
Or would she destroy herself, placing hope in another timeline where Deceitful Bloom and Byme might reach a better ending?
In the end, Byme did not care which timeline it was.
She only cared about Deceitful Bloom.
The moment Byme sacrificed all Vineborne while Deceitful Bloom was in Graveyard of Bones, she successfully left behind the Deceitful Bloom in her heart.
After that era ended, no matter how many timelines split off later, no matter how light or dark those timelines became, and no matter how they were pruned, Deceitful Bloom was still that one Deceitful Bloom.
She might grow new branches.
But the first story could never be changed.
