This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist
Chapter 1369 A Toast Before Doomsday
Golden lightning and white Vine intertwined, forming a massive white gold chain that wrapped around the world and dragged it out of the dock.
Whenever BS Rita pulled a world free, the ship would fall quiet for a moment.
The gods stopped playing.
The Starsea players discussing game rewards and Quiet Mountain intel also stopped talking.
Everyone quietly watched one world after another break free from the war sequence.
It was a sight they somehow never tired of seeing.
Even Mistblade, Maple Syrup, and the others who had been teleported to Rita’s side during Graveyard of Bones were the same.
They had already watched it nearly a hundred times.
Yet when the scene unfolded before them again, they still could not look away.
The person standing at the bow pushed the tiny world in her palm into the ship.
It joined the hundred plus little worlds drifting among the Starsea players and gods.
Beneath chaotic Starsea’s night sky, those worlds looked like lamps that would never go out.
Perhaps this was why the Starsea gods looked so relaxed and happy.
So war could actually end one day.
Everyone had already learned the news from the battlefield chat.
In the near future, Starsea would either perish together with Quiet Mountain, or face that unknown disaster together with it.
But the war had ended.
Even if doomsday was coming soon, that was fine.
The war had ended.
No one had to face one another with twisted hatred anymore.
Everything before them truly did resemble a Doomsday Party.
Sea Pony crouched on Crab’s head and stretched out a tiny hand to touch a passing world.
It said to Crab, "It would’ve been nice if Hippie were still here. I never even got to see your homeland."
Crab replied lightly, "It’s about the same as Marmang and BS. Just another sea."
Mud Bears sat at the stern holding a honey jar, lost in thought.
A shadow suddenly fell over Autumn Deer.
Before he could look up, several enormous sacks were thrown in front of him.
The openings spread wide, revealing piles of Little Bear Cookies inside.
Autumn Deer’s eyes widened.
He threw himself over the cookies in a slightly awkward rush.
His movements were large, but his touch was extremely gentle. He made sure not a single cookie fell out of the sacks.
Then he lifted his head and looked at Maple Syrup standing before him.
A low sound rumbled from his throat, somewhere between a whimper and a warning growl.
Autumn Deer and the orange owl stared at each other in silence for a long time.
In the end, neither spoke.
One would never forgive the orange owl.
The other would never admit fault or apologize.
But the war had ended.
Ended so suddenly.
Ended so abruptly.
It was beautiful enough to bring tears to one’s eyes.
Beautiful enough to make someone let the other party go, and let themselves go too. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Divine Game was still continuing, but so what?
At least their worlds no longer had to live in constant fear.
If tomorrow was doomsday, then today was for raising a toast.
Maple Syrup turned and left.
Behind her came Autumn Deer’s small whimper.
"There are still over twenty thousand missing..."
"..."
Maple Syrup snapped irritably, "Go find BS Adjudicator. They’re with her."
Autumn Deer stopped talking.
He silently hugged the little bears he had recovered, calculating in his heart how many honey jars he was still missing.
Just then, a little robot ran up to him.
Mud Bears recognized it.
This was that Adjudicator’s pet, B80.
B80 said, "Savior of Starsea, Guardian of BS, Catastrophe of Quiet Mountain, my great master BS Rita said the Little Bear Cookies in BS will take some time to return to you. She has already allocated funds for people to buy them back. However, the hateful BS Council said procedures must be followed, so it will take a little time."
Mud Bears let out earth shaking sobs.
"Oh heavens! Praise the Savior of Starsea, Guardian of BS, Catastrophe of Quiet Mountain!"
From far away came BS Rita’s furious, embarrassed roar.
"That’s enough! Stop talking nonsense!"
Deceitful Bloom flicked her fingers and tossed an Eight Dot into the center of the table.
She withdrew her gaze and mocked, "She can actually blush. What a miracle."
The captain said gloomily, "The real miracle would be you blushing for once when you peek at my tiles."
The moment he finished speaking, a sob came from beside him.
A Devon Rex cat crouched next to him.
It was Crispfang.
Crispfang scratched hard at the captain’s pant leg.
"Do you think if we go find Maple Syrup now, she’ll turn us into cookies too?"
The captain said, "...I’m not like you. I don’t have that kind of kink."
Crispfang ran off.
He crouched in front of Maple Syrup, who was walking away quickly, and waved a paw at her.
"Hello, I’m the captain."
The next second, a spear thrust forward, lifted Crispfang high into the air, and flung him back.
He smashed straight onto the mahjong table, landing almost beside the captain’s face.
The captain had only dodged just in time.
Holding a tile, the captain widened his eyes and hurriedly played it.
"I won!"
Deceitful Bloom, Foolishness, and Graffiti threw Crispfang, who was wildly flailing on the table, back off.
Then they swiftly mixed up all the tiles.
"Ah, it’s all messed up. Start over."
"Start over, start over."
"Exactly. There’s no evidence now. You can’t just say you won out of nowhere."
Bitter Chalice and the drummer were fishing along the edge of the deck.
Several vice captains crouched nearby to watch.
Quex was asking Mischief questions.
Meanwhile, BSCicada seized the chance while BS Rita was not busy and stopped her.
"When can you bring Smoke Tune onto the ship too?"
Rita said, "She won’t come."
BSCicada grew irritated at the mention.
"I searched for her in BS for ages earlier and couldn’t find her. Where does she usually go?"
That was also why she wanted to board the ship.
BSSmoke Tune held a position in BS, and not a low one either.
BS was also impossible to order around like Dawn.
She could not command BS to locate Smoke Tune for her.
So she had to find BS Rita first and have her help locate Smoke Tune.
Rita said, "Why are you looking for your sister all day? The game just ended. Don’t you have things to do?"
BSCicada silently inhaled.
"...It’s exactly because the game ended that I want to see how she’s doing!"
Rita scratched her chin and avoided BSCicada’s gaze.
Of course she knew where Smoke Tune was.
But how should she put it...
BSCicada took a deep breath and tried to make her tone gentler.
"I just want to know whether she’s happy in BS. When I merged Dawn into BS last time, everything happened too suddenly. I didn’t even get to properly talk to her."
Rita said, "Uh... do you know BSSanchez?"
BSCicada frowned.
"Who?"
Rita tried to keep it as brief and clear as possible.
"Someone who traded intelligence and emotional intelligence for combat instincts. BS Shadow.Q said she stopped Smoke Tune when Smoke Tune went out to buy coffee not long ago and challenged her to a duel. Smoke Tune instantly defeated her. Since then, she’s been following Smoke Tune around everywhere.
"Basically, she’s taking Smoke Tune around to have fun. Sometimes Smoke Tune also stays at the White family home. The White family’s morals are questionable, but they know how to behave. Don’t worry. As long as Smoke Tune is in BS, her life definitely won’t be bad. Everyone is pretty friendly."
The sky fell.
BSCicada stared at her in disbelief and questioned:
"...How could you? How could you let her stay out overnight?!"
Rita: "..."
