Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1336: Afraid She’ll Run Away
Carlotta opened the suitcase and took out a pink anti-loss strap, something often seen at stations when mothers are there alone with their children.
Without any warning, she directly fastened one end of the strap on Janelle’s wrist.
"What are you doing?!" The girl screamed in shock, looked toward her mother, eyes wide with surprise, "Mom!!"
Her mother calmly put the other end on her own wrist, with a long spiral cord connecting them.
"Childish!" Janelle was at a loss for words, unable to describe her mother’s behavior.
"Don’t underestimate this thin rope. It’s made with 59 strands of 404 stainless steel wire plus PVC core, coated with PU. Ordinary scissors in hotels can’t cut it." Carlotta said proudly, "And if you dare mess with the rope, I’ll get an alert."
"...Absolutely incredible!" Janelle looked at her, shook her head, then raised her thumb in admiration, "This is really something!"
"You’ve escaped once already, I must be prepared," Carlotta chuckled, telling her, "The rope retracts quickly, up to 15 times stretch, won’t hinder you from doing anything, max distance 20 meters."
"Alright, alright!" The girl resigned herself to her fate.
"Okay, I’m going to the room to rest, you’re free to do what you like!" With that, Carlotta carried her suitcase inside.
Janelle watched her mother’s back, feeling more at a loss for words than ever in her life.
Until she heard the door close, she curled up on the sofa, picked up a man’s profile with nothing better to do and took a look. After reading the densely packed three pages, she realized he was quite accomplished.
But thirty-five isn’t young.
And Sister Sterling takes good care of herself... They actually seem quite well-matched!
As a certain thought sprouted in her mind, Janelle couldn’t help but smile lightly, but soon she restrained herself.
"Hah, you like matchmaking right? Then let’s see you match."
She took out her phone and texted Trevor.
Roughly conveying this—
She would accompany her mom to a matchmaking tomorrow, and would send him the address, hoping he could come and rescue her on time.
After sending the message, a minute passed, with no reply from Trevor.
Janelle sent another message, telling Trevor she was strapped with an anti-loss strap by her mom, and wondered if he wouldn’t leave her to suffer.
Two minutes passed...
Still no reply from Trevor.
Janelle panicked, uncertain if he would help, it was really annoying!
Not until four in the afternoon did Trevor reply, with two words: Sure.
A weight finally lifted off the girl’s chest.
He agreed! That’s great!
So that night, Janelle didn’t suffer insomnia.
She slept peacefully, without any thoughts of escaping.
Carlotta, having flown all night, was actually exhausted, and several times secretly opened her daughter’s room door, checking her steady breathing as she slept, then returned at ease to her own room.
If the wristband was removed, it would set off an alarm, so Carlotta quickly fell asleep too.
The task of arranging her daughter’s marriage should not fall into Nathan Mills’ hands.
Next day morning.
Mother and daughter got up, washed up, and had breakfast at the hotel.
Janelle wore a purple fitted dress, elegant and graceful, which she bought the day she was with Simon and Cecilia.
Carlotta was in a good mood as well, heading out with her daughter.
"Going out this early?" Janelle asked, "Isn’t it a lunch meet-up?"
"We can chat a bit before lunch, get to know each other," Carlotta was actually impatient, "Let me tell you, Julian isn’t against matchmaking, so he might take a liking to you."
"So he’s used to matchmaking, right? Can’t find anyone suitable? Can’t be bothered to argue with the family’s arrangements? Heh, doesn’t even ask if I like him!"
"Why do you think like that? This is his first time matchmaking."
Janelle took the opportunity to ask, "I’m almost ten years younger than him, right?"
"Isn’t it normal for men to be older now?"
"What if it’s the woman who’s ten years older? Is that normal too?"
Carlotta responded without hesitation, "In today’s society, even relationships with huge age gaps like grandparent-grandchild love are normal!"
