Chapter 1361: Chapter 1361: Janelle Faces Trevor Alone

Outside the window, the last glimmer of twilight faded away, and the city lights began to glow. The nightfall of early winter always arrives quickly.

The large curved glass window was clean and bright without any glare, and standing in front of it, one could take in the bustling nightscape.

Trevor arrived early; it was a matter of etiquette.

He set aside work, leaving everything to Simon, and glanced at the time, estimating that Janelle and her mother had almost arrived.

For some reason, Trevor felt a bit nervous. After all, he was meeting Janelle’s mother.

He treated the meeting with caution.

Thinking of Janelle Mills, images flashed in his mind like a film: their first blind date, meeting again in Eldoria, until she dragged Jocelyn to him...

Unconsciously, he had spent quite some time interacting with her.

She was straightforward and sincere; her every movement, her every smile, her every word and action had left an extraordinary impression on Trevor’s heart.

Agreeing to play her boyfriend for the blind date was because Trevor didn’t dislike her.

"Mr. Trevino, shall we serve the dishes now?" the waiter at the door asked with a reminder.

Trevor snapped out of his thoughts, glanced at the time again, and then turned to her, "Yes, please."

"Alright, Mr. Trevino." One of the female waitresses smiled and nodded before walking away.

After a while, a taxi stopped downstairs, and the driver reminded the girl in the back seat that they had arrived, only then did Janelle come back to her senses. "Oh, okay." She paid the fare and got out of the car.

Trevor had mentioned the 58th floor in his text message. She looked up at the towering skyscraper before her, feeling distressed, and walked into the mall lobby on the first floor to take the elevator upstairs.

She was alone in the elevator, and Janelle’s mood was noticeably down, heavy.

She sensed the calm before the storm.

Pressing her lips together, she wondered, how was she going to explain it to Trevor later?

This was a meticulously arranged dinner by him during his busy schedule; he was helping her out, yet her mother didn’t show up.

In the window-side private room on the 58th floor, Trevor stood with his hands behind his back, looking poised, his dark eyes shimmering, noble yet cold.

Upon hearing footsteps, he turned his gaze.

"Good evening, miss, please come in." The waiter at the door respectfully greeted.

Janelle Mills entered his line of sight, with no one else behind her.

After she came in, she saw that the dishes were already served, more than a dozen courses, evidently well-prepared, with the aroma of food filling the air.

She felt moved, yet guilty, her expression a bit complex.

Janelle’s mother didn’t come, and Trevor wasn’t puzzled. Instead, he waved his hand towards the waiters at the door.

The waiters understood, bowed respectfully, and left, carefully closing the door behind them.

Janelle stood a short distance away, filled with grievances she wanted to share, yet found herself without the status to do so, unsure where to start. "I’m sorry, I let you prepare in vain..."

Trevor noticed her teary eyes and took steps towards her, stopping in front of her, "What’s happened?"

His gentle voice was like a breeze in spring; rather than curiosity, it was more of concern.

The girl looked up, holding back her grievances as she explained to him, "My mom was supposed to come, but..."

She didn’t know how to continue; adult matters were inherently complicated.

She just sighed, "Trevor, I didn’t lie. It wasn’t me who arranged this, it was my mom."

Of course, he believed her. When he took the call from her mother, she was still sitting in his car.

"What happened?" Trevor wasn’t at all in a rush, asking patiently, "Let me see how to sort it out?"

Janelle looked up and saw sincerity in his dark eyes.

She thought for a moment before telling him the whole story, including the content of the call from her father.

"My dad said that Uncle Dalton called him, and now both parents think we’re together."

After speaking, she looked up, her face full of apology, "Sorry, I didn’t expect it to trouble you. I’ll go back and explain everything to my parents."

"And then?" Trevor asked directly, "Will your mom drag you to meet Julian Hawthorne again? Becoming a sacrificial pawn in your parents’ war?"
