Chapter 1419: Chapter 1419: The Two Who Spent the Night Together

Jocelyn Morgan’s situation was pushed to the back of their minds for the time being; after all, this wasn’t something they could solve just by trying harder.

Trevor had already done everything he could, sending quite a few people over.

Vera Ford hadn’t waited for Ian Shelby to come back tonight; she sat alone on the sofa out on the balcony, admiring the rain. The rain kept getting heavier, and it was a bit cold.

In the end she couldn’t hold out anymore and chose to go back to her room to sleep.

She believed that when she woke up, there would be some news circulating in the ancient town that would satisfy her—about a certain Jiang, a floating corpse.

The next morning, the rain had stopped, and a faint chill lingered in the air.

When Janelle Mills opened her eyes, the room was unusually quiet. The ceiling and walls in her line of sight were all wooden boards, and some water-grown plants were tastefully hung on them.

If she took a careful breath, she could smell a faint scent of wood.

Her memory was clear; she recalled what had happened yesterday, worrying about Jocelyn Morgan’s safety, and also about last night... when she and Trevor had slept in the same bed.

So she shifted her gaze slightly, and sure enough, she saw Trevor at a glance. He was lying on the other side of the bed, in exactly the same position as when he’d lain down last night.

Janelle’s gentle gaze lingered long on his handsome side profile; his nose wings were perfectly chiseled like they’d been carved with a knife. Her eyes even went a little unfocused, but only for a second.

Sigh, I wonder how Jocelyn Morgan is doing.

But Janelle Mills, you slept with your male god again.

Even though there hadn’t been any real progress in their relationship, she was already very satisfied. She liked him, and it showed in everything about her.

She had no idea how Trevor sensed her gaze. His eyes were still closed, yet he spoke softly, "Good morning."

It gave her a fright. "..." She instantly grew alert. Did he have a third eye or something?

Seeing that the girl hadn’t responded for a long time, Trevor, who had been lying flat, opened his eyes and then turned his head slightly. Their gazes collided.

"Good morning." Janelle blinked awkwardly, hurriedly added the greeting, then drew her eyes back. "Did you sleep well last night?"

Had he stayed up all night worrying about Jocelyn Morgan?

"Yeah."

Trevor lifted the quilt on his side as he got out of bed and replied to her, "The owner of this inn actually has pretty good taste. The bed is almost as comfortable as the one at home."

When he said that, she didn’t know how to respond. Comfortable?

Sleeping in the same bed with a woman—did he not feel even the slightest bit uncomfortable?

But she only pressed her lips together and sat up as well.

"What’s wrong? Is your foot any better?" Trevor put on his shoes and sat on the edge of the bed, turning his eyes toward her, his look and tone full of concern.

"Yeah." The girl nodded. "Much better."

Trevor stood up. "I’ll go wash up first. I’ll take another look at it in a bit and put some more medicine on it. Oh, right, what do you want for breakfast? You can order in here."

He picked up his phone and glanced at it. There was no message from Ian Shelby, and no missed calls either. A dimness flashed through his eyes.

Janelle, however, thought to herself, so he really isn’t going down, huh?? 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Anything’s fine for me."

Trevor stood up and asked in all seriousness, "What do you mean ’anything’s fine’?" There seemed to be a faint hint of displeasure in his tone. "You’re not taking my question seriously."

"’Anything’s fine’ means I’ll go with whatever you choose." Janelle hurriedly corrected herself and gave him a pretty smile.

Trevor’s expression eased quite a bit; the curve of his lips was attractive. "Then you go wash up first." He wanted to call Ian Shelby.

"You go first." The girl stood by the bed, staring at him like a lovestruck fool. "Hurry up, don’t waste time!"

Trevor glanced at her, then lifted his feet and walked toward the bathroom.

Janelle also let out a long breath! With two people sharing such a small space, it was really so... so awkward!
