One night has passed, and still there is no news of Jocelyn. Ian Shelby’s heart has been hollowed out along with it.

Gazing at the mist-shrouded river, his eyes are as black as an ancient well, unfathomably deep.

"Dr. Shelby! The culprit who hurt Miss Morgan is here!" Trevor’s men shout at Ian Shelby’s back, dragging Vera Ford as they speed up!

Ian Shelby hears the call and turns his gaze, seeing someone pulling Vera Ford towards him through the heavy curtain of rain!

Vera Ford struggles to break free, too guilty to meet Ian Shelby’s eyes.

"Dr. Shelby! It was her who pushed Miss Morgan into the river!"

Trevor’s men loudly report, "She confessed to Miss Mu personally! Then tried to kill and silence her, pushing Miss Mu down too! Luckily, Mr. Trevino rescued her in time!"

Upon hearing this, Ian Shelby’s body stiffens, the umbrella in his hand drops to the ground, his astonished gaze fixed on Vera Ford.

Vera Ford is dragged over by Trevor’s men, soaked to the skin, trembling from the cold, with injuries to her abdomen and chest, and her face swollen from being hit.

"Dr. Shelby! It was her who pushed Miss Morgan into the river!" the men shout with rancor!

Police officers quickly arrive at the scene.

All of Ian Shelby’s faith collapses in an instant. He rushes forward, grabbing Vera Ford’s shoulders, asking through gritted teeth, "You pushed her down?! You wanted Jocelyn dead?!"

"I didn’t! It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me...!" Not wanting to go to jail, Vera Ford became intimidated upon seeing the police around.

"It wasn’t me!" she immediately denies, her tone utterly resolute, "Let go of me! I didn’t! Let go!"

But Ian Shelby seems about to crush her!! His eyes blaze with vengeful fury!

"Then why are you here?!" Amidst the torrential rain, Ian Shelby shakes Vera Ford’s shoulders strongly, his gaze virtually manic, "I’m asking you! Where is Jocelyn?! Vera Ford!! Where is Jocelyn?!!"

"It’s not me, it’s not me, it really isn’t..." Playing the weakling, Vera Ford delivers her best performance, "I don’t know, Ian, you can’t wrong me just because you dislike me for liking her."

"You lie! You admitted it in front of Miss Mu!" Trevor’s men can’t stand it anymore, "You even wanted to silence her! You pushed her down!!"

Vera Ford stops resisting, unable to break free from Ian Shelby’s nearly frantic grip, letting him shake her madly, almost causing her to be concussed.

Ian Shelby pulls her up again, sorrow enveloping his entire face, dangerous light bursting from his eyes, "Is Jocelyn’s disappearance related to you?!!"

Ian Shelby’s anger pierced her!

Those eyes are like sharp knives, stabbing directly at Vera Ford’s heart!

That is Ian Shelby’s love for Jocelyn Morgan! And this love pierced Vera Ford’s heart!

So, she lets him shake her, question her, hate her...
