Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1450: Apologizing with a Heavy Heart
Just like that, Finn Morgan woke up, ate breakfast, and drove to the company.
Hailey Hale lay sideways on the wide, soft bed. She wasn’t sleepy, nor did she want to get up. She had no appetite, her mind was filled with thoughts of Jocelyn Morgan...
That lively and adorable sister, is she really never coming back?
Missing her smile, and also her chattering voice.
As she thought about it, Hailey couldn’t help but shed tears, blurring her vision, a surge of sadness welling up from deep within.
Because she’s pregnant, she listens to Dr. Shelby and tries to control her emotions as much as possible.
Gently caressing her high round belly, Hailey murmured softly, "Baby, Auntie will be fine. She hasn’t given you a name yet. She will definitely come back. Baby, don’t you agree?"
As her words fell, a beautiful smile appeared on Hailey’s lips, and the tears flowed again, soaking the pillow.
She doesn’t want to bring her sadness to her in-laws, if she wants to cry, she’ll cry alone.
Downstairs, Everett Morgan and Jasmine were dressed in mourning attire. Usually impeccably dressed, today Jasmine didn’t wear any makeup, not even lipstick.
She turned towards the stairs and looked, asking the nearby butler in confusion, "Hailey hasn’t gotten up yet?"
"Young Master said the Young Madam wants to sleep a little longer," the butler answered with a bow, "I’ve already sent Jane to wait at the door."
Jasmine nodded reassuringly, "Alright, let Jane take good care. When the Young Madam comes downstairs, help her warm up breakfast." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Okay, you and sir can go with peace of mind, I’m at home," the butler said with a kindly and steady face, "I’m waiting for her in the living room, not going anywhere."
"Okay." Jasmine nodded, trusting him, "Thank you for your hard work."
"It’s my duty." Having received news of Miss Morgan’s disappearance, the butler was also concerned throughout the night.
Jasmine took Everett Morgan’s arm in the black suit, and the couple walked outward.
The driver, seeing them come out of the living room, had already opened the back car door in wait, holding two bouquets of white lilies in his hand.
"Good morning, sir, madam."
Jasmine took the two bouquets of lilies, bent down, and boarded the car, with Everett behind her, sitting beside her.
Shutting the car door, the driver returned to the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and quickly started the car, heading towards the cemetery.
On the way, Everett Morgan and his wife exchanged no words, their eyes filled with a sorrowful expression.
After half an hour, the car stopped in the southern suburbs 30 kilometers away from the city center.
Each holding a bouquet of lilies, the couple walked toward the tomb area. Here, tall pines and cypresses, with a serene environment, made it an ideal resting place.
They went up the stone steps, finally arriving at a joint grave. Unsealed by cement, the spot was overgrown with evergreen grass, swaying alone in the cold winter wind.
Jasmine bent down, placing the lilies before the right tombstone, and Everett put the other bouquet before the left tombstone.
The name of a woman was engraved on the right tombstone, Wendy Lewis, Jocelyn Morgan’s mother. In the round photograph, the woman had a pretty face, smiling gently, wise and serene.
The man’s name, Chester Morgan, was engraved on the left tombstone. He was Jocelyn Morgan’s father, and Everett’s younger brother.
In the photo, Chester Morgan wore a long robe, seemingly gazing level with his brother, cold yet firm, peaceful.
"Brother, sister-in-law." Everett Morgan gazed at their photos, deeply bowing with a heavy heart, "I’m sorry. You entrusted Jocelyn to us back then, but we couldn’t take care of her well."
