He grinned and nodded, wrapping her in his arms. "Yes. Did you really think you could run off tonight? Even if you tried, you wouldn’t get away."

"Hmph, why would I run? I’ll sleep on the bed, and you can sleep on the floor," Mu Wan retorted with a smile, but her body was already growing hot. After so long, it felt like time for things between them to finally progress.

"That won’t do. Tonight, we both sleep here. It’s been over a year. Do you have any idea how much I’ve missed you?" Lin Kuang murmured, holding her tightly.

"I’ve missed you, too," Mu Wan replied softly, embracing him back.

"Then what are we waiting for? Time for bed!" Lin Kuang chuckled, pushing her down onto the mattress.

Before Mu Wan could say a word, he was already on top of her, his lips swiftly and assertively claiming hers. She let out a muffled whimper or two, but when she realized she couldn’t escape the scoundrel’s grasp, she gave up the struggle.
