Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 462 - 459: Eat
An eating contest?!
Is this some kind of joke?
The previous competition over cutting hair was already absurd, but the Sword Technique it tested was at least somewhat related to the Martial Dao.
But what was the point of an eating contest?
What did it have to do with the Martial Dao at all?
"Y-You... Are you deliberately trying to humiliate me?" After thinking for a long while, this was the only possibility the Golden-Winged Roc could come up with.
Mo Qi waved his hands repeatedly. "Don’t misunderstand. Everyone’s busy. I don’t have time to humiliate you."
"When I say eating contest, I’m not talking about eating plain old grains." Mo Qi paused, then continued to explain, "We’ll be eating Immortal Level Spirit Medicine! We’re competing on our ability to absorb and convert miscellaneous Energy, as well as our endurance!"
Mo Qi’s explanation made it sound grander, but it was still useless.
In reality, who would randomly eat Spirit Medicines for no reason?
No matter how strong one’s physique or how efficient their absorption and conversion of Energy, it was inevitable that impurities would remain, causing future problems.
"You know you’re going to die, so you’re trying to mess with me one last time before the end?" the Golden-Winged Roc asked with a frown.
"You’re overthinking it." Mo Qi rolled his eyes. "Cut the crap. I’m just asking if you dare to compete or not!"
The Golden-Winged Roc sneered. "Foolish human. Did you think a cheap trick like this could scare me?"
It was a descendant of the Ancient Divine Beast, the Three-legged Golden Crow. Although it couldn’t borrow the Power of the Sun like its ancestor, its bloodline came with a natural Light Purifying Power that could refine any excess, impure Energy in its body.
This was also the reason it could walk the Path of Speed to its very peak.
The competition Mo Qi proposed might be a trap for others, but for the Golden-Winged Roc, it was complete child’s play.
"I’ll compete with you in this so-called ’eating contest’. Hmph, you’ll pay a price for playing tricks!" the Golden-Winged Roc snorted coldly.
Mo Qi remained noncommittal, but his smile grew even wider.
"Alright then. The rules are simple. You eat the same Spirit Medicines as I do. If you can keep up and I stop first, I lose."
"If I don’t stop and you can’t eat anymore, you lose. How about it?"
The Golden-Winged Roc thought for a moment, found no flaws—it was very fair—and nodded. "Fine."
With a grand wave of his hand, Mo Qi made over a hundred different types of Immortal Level Spirit Medicine float in mid-air.
Seeing this, the Golden-Winged Roc strode up to the Spirit Medicines.
Mo Qi looked up, giving the Golden-Winged Roc a strange look. "You’re not expecting me to provide the Spirit Medicines for your side of the competition, are you?"
The Golden-Winged Roc’s expression froze. ’Isn’t he supposed to provide them?’
Mo Qi laughed, speechless. "Do you take me for a sucker? You’re insane! Besides, the Demon Race is so rich and powerful, don’t tell me you can’t even cough up this many Spirit Medicines?"
An awkward expression appeared on the Golden-Winged Roc’s face. It really wasn’t in the habit of carrying so many Immortal Level Spirit Medicines around.
In fact, aside from certain powerful individuals and professions—Alchemy Masters or merchants, for example—hardly anyone carried that many Spirit Medicines with them.
Mo Qi was able to produce them because he had previously extorted several hundred Immortals from the Hall of Envoys.
"Da Peng, take this and use it!"
Just then, Bai Fa tossed a Storage Ring to the Golden-Winged Roc.
The Golden-Winged Roc caught the ring, and with a sweep of its Divine Sense, discovered a mountain-like pile of Immortal Level Spirit Medicine inside.
It was overjoyed. After giving its leader, Bai Fa, a grateful look, it took out Spirit Medicines from the ring in the exact same quantity and variety as Mo Qi’s.
Seeing this, Mo Qi’s gaze swept over the Storage Ring without a trace of his interest showing.
’An unexpected delight!’
The Demon Race was different from humans. Human Cultivation relied on all sorts of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Objects and Treasures, but the Demon Race placed more importance on their own bloodlines.
Aside from a few specific Spirit Medicines, the Demon Race had very little demand for Spiritual Medicines and Treasures.
Furthermore, due to their different biological makeup, it was very difficult for members of the Demon Race to succeed at Alchemy or become Alchemy Masters.
Therefore, the Demon Race’s reserves of Spirit Medicine were extremely abundant.
Mo Qi licked his lips. Even through the Storage Ring, he could sense the aura of a massive quantity of Spirit Medicines inside.
’If I can get my hands on this Storage Ring, I’ll be rich.’
"Let’s hurry up and start!" The Golden-Winged Roc warily put away the Storage Ring and urged him on.
"No problem." Mo Qi retracted his gaze and reached for an Immortal Level Spirit Medicine.
"You’d better watch closely. Don’t go eating the wrong medicine after me," Mo Qi reminded him nonchalantly, then stuffed the Spirit Medicine in his hand into his mouth.
His movements were fast. With both hands working at once, moving left and right, he swallowed one Spirit Medicine per second on average.
"Hmph, childish! I’ll show you what true despair is!" The Golden-Winged Roc followed close behind, picking out the same Spirit Medicines and tossing them into its mouth, its speed not falling behind in the slightest.
Instantly, dense Spiritual Energy and a treasured glow began to leak from the corners of their mouths.
A refreshing medicinal fragrance filled the entire island.
Immortal Level Spirit Medicines weren’t a dime a dozen; every single stalk was exceedingly precious.
But right now, Mo Qi and the Golden-Winged Roc were chomping them down one by one like radishes.
"What a colossal waste of treasures!"
The Immortals swallowed their saliva frantically. Even with their status, none of them had ever been so extravagant.
"If these Treasures were given to a decent Alchemy Master to process, how many experts could be trained!"
"Exactly! For them to just be swallowed whole like this... it’s a shameful waste!"
"That’s not the main point. The real question is, even if that brat Mo Qi wins against that bird, what will happen to him? With so much miscellaneous Medicinal Power accumulated in his body, no matter how talented he is, he can’t withstand being tormented like this!"
For a moment, the Immortals fell silent.
On the Demon Beasts’ side, the Three-headed Thunder Tiger looked at Bai Fa and asked, "Boss, this human is insane. Competing with Da Peng on their ability to withstand Spirit Medicines... he’s simply seeking his own death!"
Bai Fa remained noncommittal. "If it’s just a competition of refining Spirit Medicines and withstanding Medicinal Power, I’m not worried about Da Peng."
"Huh? You don’t think that human has some other motive, do you?" This time, it was the Armored Profound Turtle who spoke.
Bai Fa shook his head. "I don’t know. But this human gives me a very strange feeling. I can’t shake the sense that his motives aren’t pure."
"Niu Tou died because of his own carelessness. Aren’t you overthinking things, Boss?" The Three-headed Thunder Tiger shook his long blue hair, which scraped against the air and created dazzling sparks.
"Perhaps," Bai Fa said, not elaborating further.
The competition between Mo Qi and the Golden-Winged Roc continued.
Ten Immortal Level Spirit Medicines... twenty... thirty... fifty!
By the time both of them had swallowed fifty Immortal Level Spirit Medicines, the crowd’s focus was no longer on the issue of miscellaneous Medicinal Power, but on whether the two would be blown apart by it.
Mo Qi’s expression was relaxed as he picked up the fifty-first Spirit Medicine, ready to eat.
Forget fifty stalks; even if it were five hundred, five thousand, or fifty thousand, Mo Qi could still eat them all without batting an eye.
Because he didn’t need to consider the problem of Medicinal Power at all.
The Chaos Scripture was like a bottomless pit; no matter how many Spirit Medicines came its way, it would take them all in without exception.
